Masks back in Classrooms in secondary schools.

storminabuttercup · 02/11/2021 07:10

Our LEA have reintroduced masks in secondary schools, it's out first experience of this as DC us year 7. I'm absolutely not anti mask, DC willing wear one in shops etc and when moving about in school but is upset this morning about having to wear one all day, I'm guessing they will get used to it soon enough but I feel so sad about the whole situation, these kids have been through so much. It also makes me wonder if this is now the step before back to home learning.
I know we need to control the virus I'm not even complaining I'm just venting that this bloody thing is still here.

Shall we just accept nobody knows?

Marsha seems to think she knows...

FreshFreesias · 02/11/2021 18:24

I’m so glad that none of the children at the school next to me are wearing masks now.
It’s so cruel. Imagine having to sit in lessons all day with your breathing impaired for an illness that will barely affect you.

MrsHamlet · 02/11/2021 18:25

"Cruel" is ridiculously hyperbolic

MarshaBradyo · 02/11/2021 18:27

There is no evidence

I doubt it’s the case even with your spurious the media is suppressing child related stuff claim as we have been very good throughout at picking up signals

And you still can’t talk about what the issue is if it’s not the case

FreshFreesias · 02/11/2021 18:28

@MrsHamlet Yes cruel.
Why are the Covid Cultists so heartless.

noblegiraffe · 02/11/2021 18:28

There is no evidence

Ah, so you withdraw your claim. Ok.

Ha well you certainly put enough time in trying to argue something you had no evidence for.

Give over. And stop lying.

Why are the Covidiots so thick?

bumbleymummy · 02/11/2021 18:31

I know you're loathe to actually do any legwork when it comes to your opinions, but you can't make claims and then just say 'I don't need to provide evidence'.

But you’ve claimed that most children aren’t developing antibodies/immunity and haven’t provided any evidence for that. Confused

MarshaBradyo · 02/11/2021 18:31

Anyway since pp has finally admitted they have no evidence

The 75% is still worth remembering as a key factor

noblegiraffe · 02/11/2021 18:32

Ha well you certainly put enough time in trying to argue something you had no evidence for.

The thing you said I was claiming that I hadn't claimed? Ok then.

SuitcaseManor · 02/11/2021 18:33

We've just had an educational trip away where we had to wear masks all day. I took my son's 'Step Ahead' masks and they are so comfortable - I definitely recommend.

FreshFreesias · 02/11/2021 18:37

@SapereAude Why do the Covid Cultists call anyone not suffering from health anxiety “thick”.
Message to Covid Cultists; ‘people get other illnesses apart from Covid’.

noblegiraffe · 02/11/2021 18:38

But you’ve claimed that most children aren’t developing antibodies/immunity

I said antibodies. We know that only 17% of secondary kids had antibodies at any point from Nov to July and that 50% were infected by September. Some people were arguing that more children were infected from July to Sept than from Nov to July but that's not particularly convincing. To suggest I've not provided any evidence is, therefore, not true.

bumbleymummy · 02/11/2021 18:42

@MarshaBradyo I don’t think noble understands that if children aren’t actually developing immunity after infection, as she stated, then we would see a higher rate of reinfections among them.

As a sufferer myself of HA (am on the long running thread under a different user name) I'll ask you why you think it's ok to insult people suffering from mental health issues?
I'm also on the waiting list for an operation (since 12/11/20 actually) so know about other illnesses, ta.
What's your excuse for the thickness?

Yep it seems that pushing a point is more important than understanding what it means and what the issue is

Sorry... are you suggesting I'm a "covid cultist"? What does that mean exactly?

SapereAude · 02/11/2021 18:50

@MrsHamlet

You're a "Covid Cultist" and so am I because pp doesn't believe Covid matters. Advanced Search will tell you every box is ticked, from "hospitals round here aren't busy" last year, to "don't want the vaccine" (complete with foot stomping ) and medical experts somehow not noticing that children are all apparently "unable to breathe" (and are presumably turning blue and passing out in front of their teacher's eyes) because they are wearing masks.

Has also been known to say "you can't blame Trump" for Trump policies. Confused but that's another conspiracy rabbit hole they've been down.

I'm still waiting for Marsha to provide evidence that we're not.

Keen to see evidence that lack of antibodies following infection isn't anything to worry about. I know that lack of antibodies following vaccination was a concern.

MarshaBradyo · 02/11/2021 18:52

Why are you so fixated Noble

Does being incorrect get to you?

You made an assertion couldn’t back it up with evidence now going on about needing something from me. Tough really. Move on.

I’m not entertaining your fixation and inability to give evidence.

womaninatightspot · 02/11/2021 18:56

@Geamhradh

Agree with the comfort thing- don't use cloth/handmade ones- the papery surgical ones we've found the best after lots of trial and error. You can now get them in different colours (I've noticed most of our teens wear black ones) and as he's y7 he might still find the children's size a better fit.
I'd agree with this cloth ones are fine for half an hour or so but once they are damp they are difficult to breathe through. Either take multiple spares and swap them out or disposable.
noblegiraffe · 02/11/2021 18:56

You made an assertion couldn’t back it up with evidence

No, that was you. I don't think you understand that absence of evidence for a claim (which I didn't make) is proof of its negation (a claim which you did make).

MarshaBradyo · 02/11/2021 18:57

You are very needy Noble

Move on already.
