The cold that's going around

I currently have some symptoms. It's mainly a sore throat, a sinus drip at the back of the throat, a cough. The symptoms are very mild. I have a pcr booked for tomorrow so I will be able to establish is the next two days if this is covid or not.

There's a cold going around. Did anyone here experience that cold? Or any family members? What was that cold like for you?

I'm just after experiencing a dose of diarrhea and I think that's unusual with a cold. Makes me think now that this is covid.

Did anyone else experience diarrhea with that cold?

I have The Mega Cold.

I have tested to be sure it's not Covid. I was worried the booster would balls up results but it's just a no.

This morning I woke up and realised, it's like the last Mega Cold I had which was ten days! It's really sinusitis. I'm a SAH at the mo so at least I don't have the stress of letting the office team down...

I wish I could hurry it along. I did use Otrivine the first two days but now I am thinking to avoid it because of rebound issues.

I have chronic health issues and used to get this sort of thing two or three times a year so mustn't grumble....she says, grumbling. Last had this in 2018.

Terrible if managers are pressuring people to go to work with this.

Forgotten what day I'm on with this bloody cold. And yes it is a cold, had more than one negative pcr over the last few weeks.
Did think I was getting over it and them yesterday I had a horrendous sore throat. That's now gone, the rivers of snot have finally cleared up and I "just" have an occasional chesty cough.
Seriously though, everyone I know who has had covid hasn't been as rough as I've felt the last few weeks

Poor you I am worried it's going to turn into that

Are you taking any decongestant stuff? I am never sure if those help or hinder.

Princessoftravels · 15/11/2021 16:17

I have the super cold at the moment. Started with runny nose last Wednesday, felt fine but by Thursday I was feeling rough. PCR negative, LTF every day since and all negative. It moved on to an extremely sore throat, chesty cough and general malaise and lose of appetite. Not sleeping as throat is so sore and I start coughing as soon as I lie down.

I guess the price of not having a cold for 2 years!

DaisyNGO · 15/11/2021 17:45

Princess oh I don't know, I used to get these lots.

Though this time I am so irritable, you'd think I was on day 14, not day 4!

Peri + super cold = godzilla grump? 😂

The "lying down and coughing" is annoying. I found a pack of Tyrozets but it seems silly to use them as my throat doesn't actually hurt...and .i gather they stopped making them?

In some ways I'd like to do another PCR but then I'm just being wasteful.

Dillydollydingdong · 15/11/2021 17:50

I've got the cold, and yes I had a bout of diarrhohea. Just one though. Lots of sneezing and coughing.

Pushkinia · 15/11/2021 18:18

I had the cold and I had diarrhoea with it as well as altered taste. LFT and PCR both negative, it was just a stinker of a cold.

Princessoftravels · 15/11/2021 18:19

@DaisyNGO I bought night nurse this morning and took it there and then so I could get some sleep.

My neck is visibly swollen and I have no energy to cook anything or eat it. I’d like to wake up in three days time feeling better!

Jinnybean · 15/11/2021 20:16

I think I’m
Getting it! Had a bad back all day and then at 5 I just started aching everywhere and feeling like death warmed up. I’m so exhausted and my throat is starting to hurt. Iv had bad stomach ache today as well :(

Curtainpoleofdoom · 15/11/2021 20:28

Oh, DD 12 is a month out of Covid and we thought she’d got it again. Full of snot, headache, sore throat, diarrhoea came on here to see if she could possibly have covid again.

She’s just come to tell me that I one of her f at school, who she hang out with on Saturday does have covid. We’ve tested DD with a LF but she doesn’t have any testable symptoms. What to do? She missed her vaccination due to covid.

voxnihili · 16/11/2021 06:45

We all have it. DD (3) is on week 5, the rest of us on week 4. It’s relentless. I’ve never had a sore throat like it. DD is frequently being sick from coughing so much. The doctor has now prescribed her some antibiotics in case there is an underlying infection but I don’t think there is. She’s still bouncing around like normal but me and DP have been quite rough with it.

DaisyNGO · 16/11/2021 14:55

Mine is starting to seem more like sinusitis

I've done the laundry and hoovering and feel like I need a lie down!

Curtainpoleofdoom · 16/11/2021 19:46

Nope, it’s Covid, negative LF yesterday but positive today. Bloody hell it’s no time at all since she had it.

KittenKong · 16/11/2021 20:00

I feel like I’ve got a balloon stuck down my throat now. More the hacked off...

DaisyNGO · 16/11/2021 21:45

Curtain don't people test positive for a long while though?

Kitten oh dear, that's awful.

I have got an upset stomach now but it's probably just too much vit c, it was a sort of "try anything in desperation" move.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 16/11/2021 21:51

You can test positive for up to 90 days after having covid

I've just had the cold, felt worse than when I had bloody covid

Curtainpoleofdoom · 16/11/2021 22:43

Yes, I know you can still test positive after having covid. The trouble is she’s got new, testable, PCR worthy symptoms. What to do? I can’t send her to school and she had to get a pcr and isolate.

Inspirationpending · 17/11/2021 21:24

Week 3 for me too

Sinus pain, cough and snottiness gone
Sore throat just doesn’t want to quit and now have mouth ulcers Sad

Endlessly tested for covid and negative
Thrown so many vitamins at it don’t know what else to do
