How many of you will comply?

LifesTooShortYOLO · 21/10/2021 10:34

I am interested to know if people will comply or not if they bring in Restrictions again about not mixing households, not seeing family or lockdowns etc again.
So many people I've spoken to are pretty much all of the same mindset of 'Fu#k that I'm not not seeing my family again, enough is enough and we have to get on with our lives now'
I also read this a lot on comments of articles where people are saying no they won't do it again and not see their loved ones or be told what to do over Christmas etc.

What are everyone's overall feelings as things stand right now?

OP posts:

@jgw1

I am still at a loss as to what we are supposed to be complying with. Freedom day has passed, Boris has quite clearly stated and demonstrated by his actions that the pandemic is over and we can resume normal life. Life is good.
Have a read of the first sentence of the OP.
Dancerinthedark01 · 23/10/2021 09:55

How can the wearing of face masks be compared to the wearing of shoes?

theDudesmummy · 23/10/2021 09:55

I think @jgw1 was being sarcastic?

TheSunIsStillShining · 23/10/2021 09:55

I think they’re dirty bits of material and believe it’s unnatural and probably unhealthy to strap them to our faces.

Same goes for socks on feet. Ban them! Now! Abolish them all!

theDudesmummy · 23/10/2021 09:57

Why wear a dirty mask? I don't. Like I don't wear dirty socks or underwear.

theDudesmummy · 23/10/2021 09:58

All clothing is "unnatural"!

TheSunIsStillShining · 23/10/2021 09:58

@theDudesmummy

I think *@jgw1* was being sarcastic?
She specifically might have been, but the points made are too common - we see it on here, on the streets... People arguing against masks based on it smudging their make up is the new low....
Hadalifeonce · 23/10/2021 09:58

We are still wearing our masks in shops etc. And we test before we visit relatives. We are happy to do this to protect ourselves and others.

jgw1 · 23/10/2021 09:59

Have a read of the first sentence of the OP.

But Boris has been completely clear, after freedom day there not be the introduction of any more restrictions.
Boris may be many things, but he is a man of his word, he is our Prime Minister and we should listen and respect him.

theDudesmummy · 23/10/2021 10:00

Gloves now, my goodness those are an unhygienic prospect! Unless you wash them every day, like you would your hands. I think we should free ourselves from the tyranny of the glove!

Dibbydoos · 23/10/2021 10:00

There will be no lockdowns I suspect so tgats a mute point. It's more likely we'll be asked to Don masks again and since I haven't stopped wearing mine in enclosed places, thats an easy 'Yes I'll comply'. Point is if the infection rates continue to escalate and the nhs has to stop providing services because covid is taking up all of its capacity, then we're in the shit. So just Don masks, it's really simple to stop this before government intervenes. Stay well and safe everyone.

theDudesmummy · 23/10/2021 10:01

Still sarcasm...or not..?

jgw1 · 23/10/2021 10:01

complying with: common sense.

But common sense is not very common.
Take a walk outside and have a look at how people are wearing masks and they type of masks they are wearing.

One can only conclude that OP and those responding to the hypothetical feel they have reason to doubt the Dear Leader's honesty and/or competence. Difficult to imagine why!
theDudesmummy · 23/10/2021 10:05

"A man of his word". I think that clinches it that it was sarcasm?

LyricalBlowToTheJaw · 23/10/2021 10:07

@theDudesmummy, I don't know if you saw my post a few minutes ago, but I'd be really interested to know how you'd define social distancing?

TheSunIsStillShining · 23/10/2021 10:10

Have you seen people wearing gloves as well. What do they think it is protecting them from. And then they put their gloved hand on their mask, speading who knows what all over the place.

This is the man who single handedly got Brexit done you are talking about.

pawsbaws · 23/10/2021 10:20

No, won’t comply. Ticket to visit parents already bought and I’m not throwing that money away. Going regardless.

Kljnmw3459 · 23/10/2021 10:21

I'm all for restrictions to be imposed as long as schools and children's clubs can stay open! And hospitality businesses and shops have no restrictions, theatres, libraries, gyms and movie theatres have no restrictions and we get to see family and friends without restrictions, including care home patients. GPs surgeries open for face to face consultations. And no restrictions on public transport either. Or foreign travel.

pawsbaws · 23/10/2021 10:22

"Boris may be many things, but he is a man of his word, he is our Prime Minister and we should listen and respect him"

This is the funniest thing I have heard in 2021. Well done.

helpIhateclothesshopping · 23/10/2021 10:30

I would be quite happy to comply but as about 99% of the PPs on here are saying they wouldn't, I doubt my efforts would amount to much, especially as I work in a hospital and don't work from home. For us lockdown was a lot less stressful than normality, my kids preferred being at home and communicating with friends online.

SapereAude · 23/10/2021 10:32

@Dancerinthedark01

But why what? Why masks? I would say why not?

I’m not sure they really do much. Do they?

Personally, they make a chronic condition I have worse. I don’t consider myself exempt but suppose I must be.

I think they’re dirty bits of material and believe it’s unnatural and probably unhealthy to strap them to our faces.

If you're using a dirty bit of material then no, they aren't doing anything. That's why scientists recommend certain types of mask.

He got Brexit done as he promised and freed us from the yoke of foreign rule. No one else could achieved such a feat.
