How many of you will comply?

I am interested to know if people will comply or not if they bring in Restrictions again about not mixing households, not seeing family or lockdowns etc again.
So many people I've spoken to are pretty much all of the same mindset of 'Fu#k that I'm not not seeing my family again, enough is enough and we have to get on with our lives now'
I also read this a lot on comments of articles where people are saying no they won't do it again and not see their loved ones or be told what to do over Christmas etc.

What are everyone's overall feelings as things stand right now?

I have to say, looking at this from outside the UK, it looks astonishing and perplexing that, with your case numbers where they are, so many people are so adamant they would fail to comply with basic and easy to stick to public health measures, which are working well in other countries. Surely wearing properly fitted masks and social distancing are not hardships? Not seeing relatives is obviously a tough one, though, and I sympathise there (I have not seen my own elderly parents for 2 years).

InFiveMins · 23/10/2021 09:23

Nope, won't comply.

But why?

The day to day lives of the overwhelming, massively and hugely and enormously overwhelming is normal. Might get covid, and overwhelmingly people get mildly, and pretty much back to normal in couple of days.

So for many many many many of us….. it isn’t an issue. So why would we want to introduce restrictions?

theDudesmummy · 23/10/2021 09:29

But why what? Why masks? I would say why not?

SapereAude · 23/10/2021 09:30

@Reallyimeanreally2022

The government isn’t even remotely hinting about another lockdown. Not even remotely hinting.

It won’t happen!

But funny to read some of the frothing . Me comforting that massive majority are saying that they wouldn’t comply even if introduced

This is what's so ridiculous! Nobody has said that any of the restrictions are going to be introduced. Even the clickbait news articles are hypothetical. If they are introduced, may be necessary etc, yet we've got thread after thread of people saying "I'm not doing it" Well, good. Cos nobody's asking you to, you aubergine. Grin It's as if they skim read the main words and apply their own "lockdown starts on Monday" interpretation.

Because I don’t want to abide my make up And I find them a tad annoying

Simple as that

There are a lot of "tad annoying" things we have to do or choose to do for the common good.

What do you understand social distancing to mean?
TerraNovaTwo · 23/10/2021 09:38

I won't comply.

Common good…. Wearing a mask? No. Because “common” means majority. And majority aren’t remotely impacted by covid.

I’m not doing it. Along with most others on this thread.

And thankfully it would seem… the gov too

theDudesmummy · 23/10/2021 09:41

Here we keep 2m apart in most settings. Nearly everyone complies. If I am in a setting where it is not possible (eg I recently went on a plane and on a train) then I wear an FFP3.

jgw1 · 23/10/2021 09:43

I am still at a loss as to what we are supposed to be complying with.
Freedom day has passed, Boris has quite clearly stated and demonstrated by his actions that the pandemic is over and we can resume normal life.
Life is good.

theDudesmummy · 23/10/2021 09:44

But my comment wasn't really to try and change anyone's views. It is very evident that many people are now pretty entrenched one way or another (including me). I was just expressing surprise about the UK situation, as seen from outside.

And yet still best part of 3000 cases yesterday

Reallyimeanreally2022 · 23/10/2021 09:46

Yes someone will come along and say

Life isn’t good for me

As though everyone pre covid had great lives Grin

I do wonder if there is an alternative reality where the stats and rules of physics don't count? UK has seemed to slip into it.
The vast majority of the world are doing certain things to make sure that the least amount of ppl get infected and/or die. BAsed on a very wide consensus of 1000s of scientists and public health experts.
And yet some ppl here are actually happy that UK does the exact opposite. Because we must be right and everyone else is a moron.

Mask debate is the stupidest one ever. I really wish people would start protesting so vehemently against footwear. I hate shoes. I hate seeing shoes on other people. It makes social interactions so much worse when someone has an ugly as fuck loafer on. It has even slowed down the mental development of my child when around age 1 had to make him wear one. I felt like a total fascist, but society made me do it.

We could do the same for scarves. OR hats. Or underwear. Or clothes in general. seatbelts, hazmat suits in hazardous conditions, plasters on wounds, glasses,.....

theDudesmummy · 23/10/2021 09:46

Yes, I know (sigh). But not many in my area. I suspect things are different in the cities, less compliance etc.

theDudesmummy · 23/10/2021 09:47

That answer was to @Reallyimeanreally2022

theDudesmummy · 23/10/2021 09:48

@TheSunIsStillShining I couldn't agree more.

Dancerinthedark01 · 23/10/2021 09:53

But why what? Why masks? I would say why not?

I’m not sure they really do much. Do they?

Personally, they make a chronic condition I have worse. I don’t consider myself exempt but suppose I must be.

I think they’re dirty bits of material and believe it’s unnatural and probably unhealthy to strap them to our faces.

You surely should be aware by now that the correctly and widely held view amoug our great government is that the British are special and unique and the normal rules don't apply.

complying with: common sense. The UK people - in general- are lacking. In a pandemic a made up construct of Freedom day is meaningless. Why is it so hard to see? It's like me declaring it is summer. Or better yet: Boris will declare that in the UK the next 3 months will be summer! Will it be? no. And he also demonstrated painting, running in a shirt and shorts and many other things, should all be followed, because Simon Boris says?

How the fuck is wearing a mask and keeping 2m distance in a public setting is changing anyone's quality of life so drastically. Even before covid the personal space should have been respected
Nobody wants you to sacrifice your firstborn on an altar.

Life can be perfectly good and normal if you have a mask on. It doesn't stop you in anything. And you will not get to the front of the queue by breathing down someone else's neck. The distance to the till will be less, bu the time it takes to checkout/pay stays the same.

They’re only dirty if you’re not washing them.Confused
