That is what they told me They wont mix them I did stand there and try to argue and then i gave up.

Lulu1919 · 20/10/2021 18:11

@TheSquashyHatOfMrGnosspelius

Should he not have added that the booster for over fifties is if you have been invited for it? I just tried to book it but have been knocked back because I haven't been invited for it yet.
I'm 53 and not been invited yet .....Dorset
beigebrownblue · 20/10/2021 18:12

Seemed to be saying that next week if you have not been invited you will be able to book then for booster jab.

MercyBooth · 20/10/2021 18:13

My GP is Virgin Care

Im not putting myself through a head fuck over this. It shouldnt be like that.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 20/10/2021 18:13

I read the other day that people were invited in alphabetical order - at least the first time around.

So if your surname is Zebedee, you're bang out of luck.

LandGirlJudy · 20/10/2021 18:14

What channel was it in? I looked on BBC one but not on here

beigebrownblue · 20/10/2021 18:14

@Poetrypatty

Government trying to blame the public again. What is the point of this press conference? Just saying how bad things might get but taking no steps to change anything Confused It just adds to peoples stress levels for no benefit.
I agree. Think they are just trying to cover their backs in case. And blame the public if it doesn't work.

It was on the news channel
herecomesthsun · 20/10/2021 18:15

I suspect it is regional. I have spoken to our GP surgery and I think they are struggling to get the invites out, whatever your surname begins with Smile

Dorset is not a million miles away from here.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 20/10/2021 18:17

I think I might change my surname to Aardvark. Work the system.

MarshaBradyo · 20/10/2021 18:18

I admit I don’t get the blame thing

I’d rather just get messaging on what to do than enforced, and make own choices

2389Champ · 20/10/2021 18:19

@wishingitwasfriday

“This is utter rubbish. It has been widely publicised that you could still catch and spread covid. It reduces the risk of you needing hospital treatment, hence the vast reduction in hospital admissions. Stop spreading rubbish and actually read news from reputable sources.“

It has now - but certainly not at the launch of the vaccine initiative.

I quite agree the jab has significantly reduced hospital admissions and deaths - which is brilliant and I’m very thankful for it - but that’s the point, whilst we’re not invincible having received it, we need to accept the risk and get on with life too.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 20/10/2021 18:21

@MercyBooth

I attempted to get my second vaccine and was refused it because i was told they cant mix them. My first was Moderna and the same clinic are now doing Pfizer. I was told "oh you can get it done here (mentions town an hours bus ride away and our bus services are unreliable and frequently dont turn up. or £35 taxi ride away £35 ONE WAY) Sorry Cant afford it They cant have it all.

How many people have experienced logistical problems like this. Instead of these problems being tackled they would rather scream "anti vaxers"

Well whoever told you that is lying, or misinformed. I had my booster last week. My 1st 2 were AZ and this was Pfizer....all 3 done at the same place.
MercyBooth · 20/10/2021 18:23

She would NOT do it.

MySaladDaysAreGone · 20/10/2021 18:24

Folks waiting for boosters - if you think you are eligible please try and book online. My parents in their 70s were patiently waiting for a Gp letter, before trying to book. I went on the nhs booking site and booked them in last night for 10 Nov. Please try it - it might not ‘let you’ but worth a go!

garlictwist · 20/10/2021 18:24

Not sure what the point of encouraging people to get their booster is when they are only offering it to a few people anyway. Everyone under 50 can't get it.

middleager · 20/10/2021 18:29

Lulu my mother is 75 and only just invited!
She tried to book online last week but couldn't, so you may have a bit of a wait.

savagebaggagemaster · 20/10/2021 18:29

It would be helpful to offer all school staff boosters IMO

DottyHarmer · 20/10/2021 18:30

Unless you are getting a third dose as a subset of cev people, you have to wait until six months past your second dose for a booster jab.

I don’t think this message is getting through, viz posters here asking about booster when they only got their second vaccine in, say, July.

PurpleDaisies · 20/10/2021 18:32

Most of us didn’t get our second doses until July and august.
RedRiverShore · 20/10/2021 18:34

Well whoever told you that is lying, or misinformed. I had my booster last week. My 1st 2 were AZ and this was Pfizer....all 3 done at the same place.

That is what you should have though, 2 the same, then a Pfizer, the poster you were berating couldn't get a second vaccination as it was different to the first. Maybe read posts properly next time

Greyeverywhere · 20/10/2021 18:36

My dad's 84 and not been invited yet!
He had the first two jabs as soon as he got invited but honestly he doesn't seem bothered that he's not yet been invited for this one.

worriedatthemoment · 20/10/2021 18:39

@savagebaggagemaster but they can't unless they had jabs 6 months ago and then would be age or cev so they would be invited

worriedatthemoment · 20/10/2021 18:41

@DottyHarmer no i think many think they should all have it now

whynotwhatknot · 20/10/2021 18:41

yes miles probably everyone will into next year
