@Lostinacloud oh right see no one mentions this , I did think it was strange as the french do normally stand up to it a bit more

user7667781 · 20/10/2021 11:05

Masks, please

Vaccination centres open more than 2 half-days a week, please

(plenty of NHS would be happy to work overtime in them, if allowed (previously the vaccine site staff stopped this for some reason)).

Thank you

user7667781 · 20/10/2021 11:07

And French-style health passports, please

They work and would have prevented thousands of people with no vaccines or only one vaccine from ending up in hospital and/or in ICU and/or dead. You would be surprised that the very sick in hospital generally don't have a particularly good reason for not being vaccinated or only having one vaccine and many of them dash to the vaccine centre for their first or second dose as soon as they get a positive Covid test result - but the vaccine doesn't work like that and sadly they are still the vast majority of people getting sick and dying.

I also think we need to remember than the nhs is often struggling and in general we need more beds / modern hospitals
My local hospital prior to covid had several code blacks or whatever they call it a year
In the 20 years I have lived in my town it has grown enormously with new developments etc yet the hospital is the the same size , even without covid we need more hospitals and bed for the population and all the money spent that could of happened and needs to still happen , we have a few small community hospitals and there was talk of closing them , yet for day surgery , out patients appts they help and I would think more
Also we have one part time minor injury unit , great for minor things but only open short hrs , every town should have a MIU and then leaves a and e free for more urgent things , we need more beds and modern hospitals - less large wards etc

worriedatthemoment · 20/10/2021 11:09

@user7667781 2 simple measures that could really help

herecomesthsun · 20/10/2021 11:24

@bluetuesdayy

The NHS are screeching for 'Plan C'. There are less people in hospital now than in September. They are 'at the brink' every winter. We shouldn't have to lockdown down repeatedly to prop them up
No , we should fund the NHS better and have medical managers that can do a proper job, job prioritising good healthcare and not cuts (ie "efficiency savings")
herecomesthsun · 20/10/2021 11:26

Oh and don't blame the NHS. Blame Us For Them and their ilk.

bluetuesdayy · 20/10/2021 11:26

@herecomesthsun that's not down to 'us / we' and yet we are the ones expected to make sacrifices.

Lostinacloud · 20/10/2021 11:32

Protesters all being instantly labelled as anti vax, anti lockdown and anti mask far right supporters is incorrect. That is what the government want people to think but the demographics attending the french protests couldn’t be further away from those stereotypes in the main part.
Also, for 13 weeks they have been entirely peaceful and respectful. It was only when the police were ordered in to spray tear gas and use brute force tactics over the last couple of weeks that made it look like they were turning unruly.

scooterbear · 20/10/2021 11:41

I've actually started to see how some people believe some of the milder conspiracy theories around Covid so ludicrous has our governments response been at every turn. It's certainly theoretically a great way to cover up issues caused by Brexit, issues caused by underfunded social care and NHS, force us more quickly into a cashless society, harvest even more of our data....every time I see a news story I think, 'but what's really going on'...I just don't trust either media or politicians anymore.

I thought it was silly to stop mask wearing in the first place, and wfh is something that can be fairly easily started again where it existed before. With rates as they are, and an apparent new variant doing the rounds I fail to see what the problem is in reinstating these measures immediately just to be on the safe (er) side?
Half our office is off with either Covid or the non Covid awful chest thing, me included. There are already 13 hour waits in a and e (had to take dd last week when she broke her foot) and 5 hour waits for ambulances... surely any measures that are pre emptive of things getting worse are a good idea?

The footage from July is also quite interesting.

Savid Javid press conference at 5pm. Here comes the threat that it can’t be left to continue as it is and that we can’t lockdown again so plan B is the only answer.
Then let’s hedge our bets and predict that by end of next week latest, plan b is rolled out.

So very predictable and so orchestrated.

Multiple trusts are in Serious Pressures this year and have been for months. We haven't even begun winter pressures yet and Covid is yet to ramp up alongside that and our staff are leaving in droves because of people like you and they way we are treated by patients, relatived and Exec management. We are 'Screeching' for fucking help before it's too late!!!!

But sure, give us that one free pizza for risking our lives over the pandemic and bang a pot on your doorstep again Hmm

Well that'll make Kwazi look a right tool won't it
SapereAude · 20/10/2021 14:47

@Ghoulette, beggars belief doesn't it.
I'm shocked at the anti NHS rhetoric on here in the last day or so.
Thank you for all you do. Brew

Lostinacloud · 20/10/2021 15:21

I’m not sure there is an anti NHS rhetoric, I think people are (rightly) frustrated that pressure on the NHS was entirely foreseeable and in fact has been happening for years and yet instead of addressing that problem and investing in the staff and service, the Government have done nothing and just continue to interfere in our lives and ask us once again to be severely restricted in our personal lives when we all know that it will be the same story after Christmas and then again next winter. The people of the uk cannot keep curtailing all normal life every winter forever more, the government needs to fix the capacity problem.

worriedatthemoment · 20/10/2021 15:27

@Ghoulette I don't think people are getting at the workers , just the nhs as an organisation and how it needs to change
I think most people who work for the nhs understand this
We need more beds , wether thats covid , flu or other illnesses and routine operations etc

By any objective measure, these vaccines are pretty poor. The side effects are high. Efficacy fleeting & weak. You've been sold a pup. Wake up!!!!

If you're talking about vaccines you do realise that the flu jab is sometimes only 40-60% effective? Are you anti flu jab as well?

worriedatthemoment · 20/10/2021 16:10

@scooterbear it does seem sensible to bring back masks and wfh where possible ( many still wfh or only in part in anyway )
Not all can wfh though easily but where possible , especially if coincide with half term

LoveFall · 20/10/2021 16:54

@Lostinacloud

According to Twitter, Austria, Italy and Holland and Canada also have regular protests against the vaccine passport. I’m sure there will be more but we only get to hear about protests these days if there are 20-30 protesters sitting in the middle of the M25.
By far the majority of Canadians favour the vaccine "passport." And masks in indoor public spaces.

I should say however that much of the Covid precautions and management is with provincial jurisdiction. I live in BC.

curlyfries · 20/10/2021 17:12

@Lostinacloud - so eloquent, totally agree with everything you’ve said!

marieantoinehairnet · 20/10/2021 17:18

They basically want to launch some unapproved drugs on us, absolute bunch of idiots
