Are they nudging us to plan B with the presser on Sunday the articles in the papers the headlines on Sky and BBC being the worst in Europe.

I can't see another lockdown happening but masks easy fix and work from home well for some.

Yep, today they issued the threat of how there will soon be 100,000 cases per day but aren’t doing anything “yet” and everyone watches as the case rate climbs and the covid reporting ramps up. After a week or two of everyone living under stress and suspense while they swing the narrative round to “well it’s lockdown or plan b to solve these ever climbing numbers and none of us want another lockdown” The masses rejoice at no lockdown and merrily accept the only other alternative offered and voila - vaccine passports introduced and we’re all apparently grateful for their arrival Hmm

Gosh, this is all getting very dystopian. It almost seems like it's not about the virus anymore but about how they can introduce all sorts of draconian rules under the guise of concern for people. Vaccine passports will just lead to a form of social credit system like in China. Is that really what people want?

Confused You're absolutely right! I'm in Italy and have had a Vaccine pass since June. No cases since schools opened in early Sept in our school (900 kids, 97 teachers) all green pass checked (teachers) and as 82% of 12-17 year olds are double vaxxed no masks in classes where everyone is double vaccinated. Pubs, restaurants, nightclubs, theatres all finally fully loaded, economy looking up. 66% of Italians happy with green passes, 22% neutral, 18% not happy. Highest Vax rate in Europe. Nobody talking about further restrictions here. 0.6% positivity rate. But my internet's been really slow. It'll be the government knobbling me I expect.

France has followed a similar story and yet, after a welcome break from constant scaremongering, just today they have started to mute a 5th wave and talk about applying the vaccine passport to ski lifts and more worryingly whether the covid pass becomes invalid if you don’t take the booster.

Yes, it becomes invalid here too initially if you don't have your second dose, and then if you don't get your booster. That's why they're ramping up the 3rd dose rollout.

So this evening was a tonal shift.

Step 1 in preparing the country to get ready for Plan B to be put into action.

My guess is that very few will heed the advice and we will continue on the path to chaos in the now familiar self fulfilling prophecy that is our lockdown strategy, which is putting off the smallest inconveniences until it’s too late and we end up in an even shittier situation.

If it wasn’t at the risk of thousands of deaths I would argue it’s probably best to let the situation get as bad as it possibly can to prove exactly WHY we can’t live with Covid and have a functioning society without any mitigation’s in place.

@Geamhradh would rather have that than worry about worrying about goverment controlling me because they want me to show a pass.
People seem to want it all ways
They don't want a lockdown , they want masks but not vaccine passports - well whats more effective?
They want wfh ( prob mostly people who can) as a large amount can't
When really we need masks in busy places , higher vaccine uptake, hand washing and prob some kind of circuit breaker to make the first 3 effective .
A combination is needed rather than just lets have masks and wfh ( many haven't gone back into the offices yet anyway )

Re masks. Look at other European country rates who have masks in busy places and SD and vaccine passports.

It’s clear what they do…. Protect people.

This would suggest the people are now signed up to a vax subscription where your movements will be restricted unless you take up each jab whenever your government rolls out the next one. Dont you find this a little controlling?
