I think this is taking covid rules too far.
AIBU?

I think you should suggest everyone holds their breath as long as the doors are closed

Good idea. All the way to the 18th floor

I thought people only talked loudly in lifts to try and cover the sound of their farts?

Maybe that's just me. Hmm

OverTheWater · 09/09/2021 19:30

Sounds like bliss. Think I might put that one forward in my office.

NCBlossom · 09/09/2021 19:30

Sounds very practical and sensible advice!

tanstaafl · 09/09/2021 19:31

But you have masks on ?

And why's that?

Yep.

well it does make sense, in covid terms, but one person only would be better.

FramboiseRoyale · 09/09/2021 19:33

Ours have a one person at a time rule. So I just talk to myself.

IceLace100 · 09/09/2021 19:36

I think that's daft tbh.

AntiHop · 09/09/2021 19:38

I think it's a sensible small measure to reduce risk of droplets being spread. I'd like to introduce a "no shouting thank you to the bus driver" rule. I know it's nice for the driver, but shouting spreads droplets.

Serious or satire? Cannot tell.

What's the point of going in to the office if you can't talk?

Sounds much better than the awkward smalltalk that some people try to make.
MissCruellaDeVil · 09/09/2021 19:41

Wtf😂

LegendaryReady · 09/09/2021 19:43

There's never any talking in the lift?

IcedPurple · 09/09/2021 19:43

Sounds mildly dystopian.

If you'd told anyone about this or similar stuff 2 years ago, nobody would have believed you.

theworstoftimes · 09/09/2021 19:44

@LegendaryReady

Exactly. But mandating it feels ridiculous.

Wonder what little control freak dreamt that rule up

I used to hold my breath in a lift up to my 8th floor flat.

The main, only, reason for this was that the lift doubled up as a urinal.

I would have walked but had my bike with me to get to/from work.

Perhaps if people speak downwards - which would also have the added benefit of minimal eyecontact!

Well no. Things change in a global pandemic. Wouldn't have expected the government - especially this one - to pay so many people to stay home either but that's global pandemics for you - complete game changers ¯\(ツ)/¯
theworstoftimes · 09/09/2021 19:49

'Global' pandemic 🙄
