One Vaxxed, negative PCR but SO BLOODY ILL

PollyPepper · 31/08/2021 20:17

DSD (14) tested positive yesterday having spent all weekend with us, the poor mite, she just had a bit of sneezing but tested positive on LFT when she went back to her mums yesterday. 4 days with her, substantial contact, long car journeys, hugging etc.

She had her PCR earlier today and results not back but assuming it will be positive.

Me and DH did PCR and both have come back negative, which tbh I am completely shocked by. I feel rough as a dogs arse, aching all over, like my bones are on fire, sore throat, sneezing, just been violently sick. Have sick bowl and tissues by my bed.

Should I do another PCR?? I'm isolating from work (emergency services so slightly different rules), have had one jab.

God I feel like shit.

Does anyone know if any 'normal' bugs are going around that could account for it?

I AM GOING TO SCREAM!!!

PCR test gas come back negative!!!

So that's ALL the symptoms, my whole household taken out and THREE positive LFT's but a negative PCR.

Which means I'll probably have to go back into work. As that's all they go on. I feel like crying.

No you have to isolate as you’ve had a close contact and you aren’t double jabbed

ssd · 02/09/2021 20:35

Thats unbelievable @PollyPepper

PollyPepper · 02/09/2021 20:41

I've just rung our Covid hotline and yes you are quite right @Siameasy as only single jabbed.

Crazy that if I was double jabbed though I'd be called back into work!

Just to be clear then:

  • x 5 positive LFT, all from different batches, very strong lines.
  • 5 household members positive on PCR and numerous LFTs
  • Every symptom going, feeling absolutely terrible

But PCR negative??

I just don't get it Sad

Another one booked for tomorrow.

I feel like people think I'm lying about how ill I've been and that i've been lying if PCR is negative again Sad

OP posts:
ssd · 02/09/2021 20:43

Aren't they just 70% reliable though? You are obviously in that 30% Grin

Ringsender2 · 02/09/2021 20:48

I had something a few weeks back that I thought could be delta. Really runny nose, puking, diarrhoea, sooo tired, sore throat, spiking temp. Lasted about 3 days, but first 1.5 days were worst.

Had a pcr test scraping sore throat cells.

Was negative. I think there's something else nasty going around. (I'm double vacced, but hadn't been in a festy-pit of germs like you have)

Hope you're feeling better soon, and the rest of your family are ok

PollyPepper · 02/09/2021 20:55

But @Ringsender2 all my LFTs have been positive and all my household are positive, plus i have very typical covid symptoms. It's all just so bizarre and I wish I knew either way, the constant testing is exhausting and I just want to get better Sad

@ssd - sorry do you mean the LFT's are only 70% or the PCR's?

OP posts:
ssd · 02/09/2021 21:07

I read somewhere that pcrs are only 70% accurate and lfts aren't worth doing. But i could be wrong on the pcr bit

Siameasy · 02/09/2021 21:13

I have Covid (day 15) and am still ill now but initially I tested because my DD had a temperature and then my DH started getting “a cold”. I had the least significant symptoms-a slight scratchy throat but on day 12 I became quite ill.
Yet repeatedly throughout they’ve both tested negative; DH tested pretty much daily. He even tested today!

ssd · 02/09/2021 21:17

I wonder if the pcr tests have been tweaked to pick up the many delta symptoms that are out there?

PollyPepper · 02/09/2021 21:32

@ssd I'm wondering the same thing, I'm certain this would be the Delta variant with all the symptoms I have, and I don't think its been updated since that began transmitting?

DH has bought an oximeter thing which shows my oxygen levels at 94% so gonna keep an eye on that. Confused

OP posts:
Siameasy · 02/09/2021 22:09

Yes that is the bottom end of normal keep an eye.
Seriously do absolutely nothing just stay in bed and sleep.

Siameasy · 02/09/2021 22:18

PS log your symptoms on the Zoe app I had some really odd ones
Hair loss, hot hands, stabbing pains in abdomen, sore eyes, sore scalp, crazy dreams, back ache agonising for one day then it left, the worst one is lungs on fire!

TheSunnySide · 02/09/2021 22:23

@ssd

I wonder if the pcr tests have been tweaked to pick up the many delta symptoms that are out there?

Surely a PCR test just picks up the virus, not the symptoms.

Fwiw when I spoke to TT&P the only symptoms they are interested in are the main three and your isolation starts from when you get any of those - not from your positive test date.

PollyPepper · 03/09/2021 09:14

@Siameasy thanks i will do. I've been having the back ache and sharp shooting pains, especially in feet.

Woke up this morning rougher than ever and taste and smell completely gone Sad

I can't be bothered to go through the pain of driving to PCR test site anymore, and DH is feeling very ill himself now, so have got a home one here and just going to do that. Ugh.

OP posts:
worriedatthemoment · 03/09/2021 10:35

How long did it take for you to get your pcr back ?

Sunshinesandice · 03/09/2021 10:52

I think 94 percent oxygen would warrant a call to 111 x

ssd · 03/09/2021 17:01

How are you doing @PollyPepper

Porcupineintherough · 03/09/2021 20:18

@Sunshinesandice

I think 94 percent oxygen would warrant a call to 111 x
94% is the bottom end if normal. 90-93% call 111/gp Under 90% call 999

^these are the figures for white people using a CE kitemarked oximeter who dont^ have pre-existing respiratory disease.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 03/09/2021 21:16

I can't be bothered to go through the pain of driving to PCR test site anymore, and DH is feeling very ill himself now, so have got a home one here and just going to do that. Ugh.

I just gave up with the tests in the end as was isolating anyhow. DH and DD had tested positive, I have the same or even worse symptoms with positive LFTs.

PollyPepper · 04/09/2021 13:06

Hi all, sorry only just replying. I'm ok, had ambulance out last night as oxygen went to 91% but all good now.

PCR test I did yesterday has now come back positive, so at least thats me covered for work.

Feeling quite out of breath a lot and dizzy.

SS10 has now tested positive on PCR, having always been negative on LFT. The tests aren't worth the boxes they come in.

OP posts:
Siameasy · 04/09/2021 17:00

Oh dear that is worrying must’ve been scary losing breath what did ambo say?

ssd · 04/09/2021 18:27

Gosh how scary for you @PollyPepper

PollyPepper · 04/09/2021 18:58

Ambo kept me on their oxygen thing for a while and it was much better by then. Said to call 999 if it goes below and remains lower than 93%.
I'm fit and healthy, but just came up to bed and the stairs totally wiped me out.
No taste or smell now so the one thing I could enjoy aka stuffing my face has gone now too Sad

Ugh. This virus is no joke.

OP posts:
ssd · 04/09/2021 19:11

Thats awful @PollyPepper

Really hoping you get a rest
and start improving soon Flowers
