I’m an anxious person and massive worrier.

My son started with a cough and cold last week.
He was tested and it was negative.

On Wednesday my husband and I have both started with awful colds.

I have a blocked nose, dry hot throat and I genuinely feel rubbish. I don’t ever remember feeling this bad with a general cold before but I’m not sure if anxiety is making me feel worse.

I have taken my temp this morning and it’s 36.8 - is that high for this time on a morning?

I went for a PCR yesterday. I’ve done lateral flows (have to do them for work) and they are negative.

I feel convinced my PcR will be positive.

We went to a busy restaurant and then supermarket on Saturday afternoon. I had my mask on but many didn’t :(

@Dandy008 - I hope you feel better soon and can make space to chat to people in real life about how you're feeling.

Haven’t read the full thread but Delta isn’t always picked up by PCR so if you feel really rough Op, ask for help if you need it in case it is Covid.

My husband has the same symptoms and has been for a PCR his has just come back negative too. I doubt we’d both not be picked up.

But thanks for the advice. I will :)

@Dandy008

*Well sometimes a bit of tough love is what we need.*

Lose weight. You've had 18 months knowing that being obese is awful for covid. A vaccination shouldn't be enough to make you think that being obese is healthy.

And sometimes kindness is just the better option.

It’s easy to sit behind a screen and offer tough love to a faceless stranger.

You don’t know anything about me, or my life.

I’m well aware how long Covid has been around, and not once have I ever though being obese is healthy! I certainly don’t use the vaccine as a reason to stay obese!

I had my baby boy last year shortly before lockdown 1. My husband works away and after his two week paternity, he was back working away, no furlough as he is classed as essential worker.

The plan had gone from having my mother in law helping out to being completely alone (mother in law CEV and was shielding)
I’m sure super mum will come along to say that’s no reason to gain weight, but hey…. I’m not super mum.

I struggled and I gained weight!

My husband was made redundant, I had to end my mat leave early to go back to work, we very nearly lost our house, it was a friggin stressful time.
I’m surprised I’m not an alcoholic, if it wasn’t for breastfeeding I might have been… food just had to do!!

So yes, I’ve gained 2 and a half stone since my son was born!!

Your tough love isn’t needed or wanted.

I’m making great changes and the weight will be off before I know it.

I came here for some Covid support not to be judged by narrow minded posters.

They're just excuses. I've also had an awful year. Truly awful.

But they're your excuses. So you hang on to them. And good luck with the weight loss. You'll feel better soon I'm sure.

@Iusedtobesoooomuchfun

I’m sure you did have a truly awful year, but hey, suck it up and get over it.

Hope that’s not too harsh :)

Not harsh at all. And it's exactly what I've done. Thank you Flowers

With regards to feeling awful with 'just' a cold, the trouble is we're all unused to being out and about and bolstering our natural immunity against the really common viruses like colds and D&V.

So now, when they do start doing the rounds, these usually 'I don't feel that bad really' viruses are really laying us low.

It's not unual for Covid to be everyone's first thought, we've been so conditioned to think it might be, but most likely it's just something normally 'not so bad' that's got you worse because your natual immunity to colds is almost non-existent.

You'll feel better soon, OP, but just up the TLC for yourself and dose up on day/night nurse and Strepsils and lots of liquids to keep yourself hydrated. Food if you feel like it, but keep up the liquids. And get some sleep! Flowers
