Dad is in hospital

My dad has been admitted to hospital with COVID this morning. Oxygen sats 85%, high temperature. He’s unvaxed (into all sort of conspiracy theories) but don’t get me started on that! He’s had COVID for more than a week now, how likely is it going to get worse? He’s 72 but no serious chronic illnesses, not obese.
Him and my mum live in a different country and I’m so worried. If he’s to get worse, when is it likely to happen?

Hi all, my dad is still in hospital. He is still in the same condition but it is not worse so it is a plus. His lung infection is 60% and he’s struggling to breathe so it doesn’t look too positive but at least he’s not on ventilation. He is also refusing a treatment with remdesivir which made while family quite frustrated but there is only so much we can try persuading him.
My thoughts are with you and your family OP Flowers That's good he's stable and he's in the right place.

Gosh that must be so difficult. Have you tried showing him success stories about remdesivir? Trump took it and sings it's praises so could be worth a try x

We had this all the phone calls and texts stopped for a while and things got worse in hospital before better. It was so scary and being far away is really extra difficult for you. You must feel very on edge, try to stay busy and distracted if you can whilst your wait for news. Hopefully you can sleep, I requested some sleeping tablets for short term use. Take care.

Thanks. My mum is very upset and in very low spirits. She feels better though and almost recovered from COVID as well as my sister as they are both fully jabbed with Sputnik. I guess my mom would have been in the same way as dad if she didn’t get her jab. My dad by the way was against her vaccination he almost refused her go. I am so glad she didn’t listen.

My dad is a little better thanks. He’s out of icu now and moved to the ward, still on oxygen. He is still very weak and can’t get up. Him and my mum are feeling very down and I can’t help them. I offered to come over but with the infection rates going rife there I am worried the country could be moved to the red list.

Hello, I'm so sorry you are going thru such a hard and stressful time.

I'm in hospital now with covid and pneumonia and on a CPAP mask. It's horrible but I'm being a good girl and doing everything I'm told. Obviously, I'm the patient but I can see how hard this is for my mum and little boy. Everyone needs to stay strong for each other, you can do it, chin up and great news your dad is back in a ward, that should be very encouraging news.

Great news that your Dad is a little better. It must be hard on your Mum being so far away and also hard on you. Does she have any other relatives or friends there.

My dad died last night. He was getting better and was out of intensive care but was admitted again the night before. And then he died.
He was all alone and nobody held his hand in his last minute and nobody kissed him goodbye. My family can’t even see him now as the health authorities would not give his body. They have a rule to bury the body the next day as an urgent matter.
I’m devastated
