Masks reducing where you are

Are the number of people wearing masks where you are gradually reducing since "freedom day"?

It's been less than 2 weeks, but already noticing more and more people going maskless. I tend to go to the same shops at roughly the same times, first time I went on 19th vast majority still wearing masks. Been a few times since then and more and more without masks. This area is fairly low infection rates and pretty high vaccination rate.

Wondering if the reduction of cases is helping those who were wavering before deciding to ditch it.

I actually counted while standing in the queue to pay at Sainsbury's today.

Approximately 2/3 masked, 1/3 unmasked, so definitely lower than before but still more masked than not.

@harridan50

Went into birmingham today. Lots of people maskless both on the train in and in the shops. The reality is it is the vaccine breaking the viral chain not bits of cloth over faces
The reality locally depends on the local population where you are, and various demographic factors associated.

Well I went shopping again tonight, M and S and Sainsburys again.

Not one member of staff in M&S wearing a mask, a few in Sainsburys but not many. Customers probably 50/50 mask no mask in both. And varying ages and sexes, so no overall pattern.

I have been to two shops today. One is a cafe / bakery + no masks at all (except me). One is a spar = no masks at all except me. I was a bit gobsmacked. It makes me feel pretty uneasy. The spar was quiet so not so bad, the cafe was very busy at the deli counter thing. I was in and out but no way would I have wanted to leisurely have a coffee!

I am not yet double jabbed and It is annoying me that everyone seems to believe that everyone is now. I am mid 30s and still have a week to wait for it!

I am in the north west.

@PipPippin - this seems quite late? Have you waited the full 12 weeks? You’ve been able to bring it forwards to 8 weeks for a while now!

I stopped wearing mine on the day we were allowed to and at our local Morrisons that day there was only a handful without masks and a few staff wearing them as chin hammocks.

Today it's about 2/3 wearing masks, none of the staff were.

At the weekend we took the kids to a soft play and only one person had a mask on, he wore it for about 10 minutes then took it off.

I've been pleasantly surprised to see almost every customer in the local Co-op is still wearing masks and quite good about allowing others space too.

First few days it was no different. Now mask wearing is very much reduced.

I went to a local museum yesterday (inside). The tour guide said masks were entirely optional and only about 1/3 wore them (all older adults)
