Unvaccinated. Staying with friends.

I have chosen for now, not to be vaccinated with covid vaccine (waiting for MRI to clarify if I have a problem with my heart as something was found).

My friend has asked me and my family to stay with them for a week. They are vaccinated except the children. My partner and son has had covid.

I think I'm over worrying but do you think I should tell them I'm not vaccinated? Surely they wouldn't ask us to stay without asking if we are vaccinated if they were concerned?!

I have friends who have chosen not to vaccinate and many who have had it. It doesn't bother me at all but I know it does bother some people.

@Nextlevelnonsense

I would probably tell them, in case they have personal concerns. Give them the option.

Also unvaccinated here. MCAS, and follow Bhakhdi and Vanden Bossche, as opposed to conspiracy stuff. I do appreciate that everyone is entitled to follow their own science though.

You cite two sources of duff information, and have the cheek to claim you're not a conspiracy theorist? They're both equally awful.

I do appreciate that everyone is entitled to follow their own science though.

WTAF? You either follow science, or you don't. Following discredited people who give out misleading and totally duff information is not "following science". Do you follow Vernon Coleman, too?

Appreciate it's too late
But from my view
If vaccination status was indicative of a wider complacent view then I would be very wary
But I would not and have not judged people on vaccination status alone

Obviously the ship has now sailed. But it wouldn’t occur to me to consider whether a potential house guest has had the jab.
Bearing in mind no small children have had the jab we had three of DD’s little friends over this afternoon - that doesn’t concern me, nor would an unvaccinated adult

SingingInTheShithouse · 29/07/2021 00:15

Definitely tell your friend. I'd be pissed off if I had to ask.

If you pose a potential risk, or are more vulnerable because of their own unvaxxed DCs etc, then it's up to you to be upfront about that, not to put them in the potentially embarrassing situation of having to ask. If you genuinely have a valid medical reason for not being vaccinated, then I'm sure they'd understand.

Don't presume they don't care, they might just think you are sensible & presume you are vaccinated & don't know (if) there's a medical reason you're not vaccinated. I'm sure we've all had a few surprises amongst our friends

That's what my friend said. That their kids aren't vaccinated.

If you have heart conditions, I'd ask them to do an lft too, although they probably will anyway as a courtesy to guests staying.

They are doing LFTs and we are too. Thank you

@Marmitemarinaded

If you’re not getting vaccinated That’s your call

But FGS own it.

Tell your friend

I’m gobsmacked you’re asking

yep - so many people don't own their decisions. Up to you at OP not to get vaccinated but why so secretive. Some people care and others don't - she may have assume you have been - why not just say? Are you worried about her reaction?
Dozer · 29/07/2021 15:52

Covid is a far, far higher risk to your heart than the vaccine.

TheTallOakTrees · 29/07/2021 16:04

Unless you are an actual scientist how the heck can you follow your own science! So you follow people of a particular persuasion then, fine. Typical dumb anti vax / conspiracy person saying along with:

'do your own research' - dumb saying
'sheeple' dumb saying
'Big Pharma' - which ones - there are lots of big companies - all of them/some of them/
Following Vanden Bossche seems a new level dumb though since he is promoting his interests: "Anti-vaccine activists are promoting a veterinarian's claim that the only way to prevent a future COVID-19 vaccination-related calamity is through a product he claims to have invented."
