Double vaccinated and positive: covid progression thread

AvaCallanach · 22/07/2021 09:18

Hi. I can't see a thread like this elsewhere. I thought maybe those of us testing positive after being fully vaccinated might make a symptoms and progression thread for others.

I am fully vaccinated with Pfizer since mid May. In my early 50s and in the obese category (size 16).

I caught covid from my child - obviously prolonged contact.

I have had it for a week.
First couple of days: headache, tired, low energy, no appetite.
Now: like severe head cold. Worst parts are the congestion in my ears which I am probe to anyway, decongestant isn't helping much, and it makes me dizzy. Also night time cough, episodes of alternate blocked and runny nose, sinus pain. I slept better last night so am hoping I am over the hump. I would class it as mildly to moderately unwell but going on for a long time.

Anyone else tested positive after being fully vaccinated want to share?

Day 3 or maybe as far as day 8 (no way of knowing is there?!). I am much improved today. I had a dreadful night and was popping paracetamol like sweeties but am lighter today and breathing easier.

ConnectedToSandsview · 24/07/2021 14:26

Saturday: negative PCR (pre flight)
Monday: negative PCR (on arrival)
Tuesday: diarrhea
Wednesday: exhaustion hit me. Later in the day, full body aches.
Thursday: sore throat, streaming nose, headache. Positive PCR test
Friday: taste and smell went.

It took maybe 8 days to be able to stay awake for more than 3 hours at a time. Throat was bad for the most of it too, and my nose didn’t stop leaking all day.

Taste and smell came back after around 14 days, but they’re still not ‘right’ - I can taste, but I know it’s not full if you know what I mean.

It’s now 6 weeks and I can walk around a supermarket without needing a nap when I get home.

My cough started in week 3. Only between 2am and 4 am, but I’m constantly coughing for all that time every single day.

Also, I had a negative PCR on day 8 after the positive, then positive on day 10, negative day 12, positive day 14, and a negative each week since.

I'll join! Negative PCR to travel on 22nd. PCR on arrival 24th has come back positive. Double jabbed AZ two months ago. No symptoms... yet 😳. Just petrified. Reassurance gratefully received.

HarrassedMumof3 · 25/07/2021 16:18

I'm in too. Doubled jabbed by June with AZ, 42 and fit/healthy. Positive test yesterday. Symptoms have been like a bad head cold, feeling dizzy and sick. The nausea is like morning sickness, with the metallic type taste too. Husband and kids all testing negative so far.
Quite surprised how bad I feel given the jabs!

Scarecrow2016 · 25/07/2021 18:59

I'm now on day 4. Seem to have different symptoms each day. Cough has properly kicked in now and I'm breathless but its the mild side and only when I talk. Cold like symptoms. I dont feel terribly ill but I wouldnt want to do a days work.

Sorry to hear that some of you have a positive whilst on holiday.

Anyone else staying up each night to watch the isolation test and trace timer move down a day?

Scarecrow2016 · 25/07/2021 19:01

Get some paracetamol or co-codamol in as I found the headache to be a bit full on.

TeaAndBisquits · 25/07/2021 19:10

Hey All!

I'm double jabbed as of April with the Pfizer and mid 30's.

Positive PCR today (swabbed yesterday) and negative LF tests previously. So I'm guessing I'm technically day 1.

So far, I've got no symptoms so I'm hoping they stay away. My husband is also positive and has a head cold and a slight fever.

I hope all suffering feel much better soon.

JemimaMoon · 25/07/2021 19:28

So glad to have found this thread. Have a mild headache - could be the stress of it all! Hope everyone ok.

Getawaywithit · 25/07/2021 21:44

Day 4 since testing, may e as far as 9 for mild symptoms - cough is really annoying today and I am hot and cold and cold and hot. But could be worse..!

DeathWinsAGolfish · 25/07/2021 21:51

@JemimaMoon & @ConnectedToSandsview are you both out of the country having to isolate in a hotel?

JemimaMoon · 25/07/2021 22:01

Out of country but not in a hotel. Alone in a friend's house.

palindromeam · 25/07/2021 22:07

I'm on day 9. Had 2nd az at the end of April - exactly 12 after first dose. Late 40s, not over weight.

On fairly high steroid inhaler for chronic lung condition, not asthma.

Caught from 10 DD prolonged close contact.

I was very short of breath days 2-5.

Headache, sinus pressure nausea.

First day I am not nauseous today. Sinus are a bit better.

Slept a lot today. Probably did too much yesterday. (Cleaned the downstairs of the house plus bathroom).

I'm moving like I'm an old lady. Takes conscious effort to get up each step.

I am not enjoying it.

DeathWinsAGolfish · 25/07/2021 22:26

@JemimaMoon thank goodness, I'm hearing not very good things about enforced hotel quarantine.

carolinesbaby · 25/07/2021 22:31

@Booger123

Would you say that you had tinnitus? Also the breathing, not a bad cough but a kind of wheeze. Headaches around the eye coming up from the sinus area?
Barring the breathing issues, this describes me. I had Covid at Christmas, presumably Alpha/Kent variant, and was not vaccinated at the time. It was exactly like a terrible head cold, which developed into a secondary ear infection and resulted in a burst eardrum. I have had awful tinnitus and recurring sinus headaches ever since.
JemimaMoon · 25/07/2021 22:46

How long after positive test did symptoms begin for people? Or did you have them when you tested?

ConnectedToSandsview · 26/07/2021 06:24

@DeathWinsAGolfish thankfully not, this was my journey home. I don’t live in the UK so we have different testing days after arrival back in the country.

My friend is currently stuck in a hotel in Denmark though - her pre flight pcr for coming home as +ve. She’s quite happy with the service so far though, and it’s all free.

AvaCallanach · 26/07/2021 08:54

I had a positive test on the Thurs, unbeknownst to me (rest of family were offered to do a PCR after my DD tested positive) I felt fine on Thursday but chills during Thurs night and woke up Friday with sore eyes and low energy. However the real coldy symptoms started 3 or 4 days after that.

Thanks AvaCallanach. I had a shock positive test on Saturday lunchtime. Still asymptomatic for the moment. Anxiety is the worst!

Getawaywithit · 26/07/2021 13:25

Day 5 or 10 for me today. Cough is dreadful. Taste hasn’t gone but it isn’t right - kind of dulled. I just ate a packet of beef crisps that tasted like ready salted, for example.

Iknowtheanswer · 26/07/2021 13:45

Day 15 here. I'm double jabbed with AZ by early June.

Started with a blocked nose, DH then had a temperature so took a lateral flow which was positive, so I took one too, also positive.

It's just felt like a sinus cold, no temperature or headache. I'm coughing up gunk now, but haven't had a dry cough at any point. And I'm shattered. I'm back at work, but struggling to stay awake today.

JemimaMoon · 27/07/2021 07:00

How is everyone doing? Still asymptomatic here. All very strange.

AvaCallanach · 27/07/2021 07:39

Feeling 90 percent better here. Still low energy and whilst I can breathe fine, still can't smell anything. Though I put my head over my dh's pickled onions and got the faintest hint so that's a slight improvement so I think my sense of smell is there at about 1 percent of normal. This is enough to give me some sense of taste it seems. Again, muted, but it's not completely absent.

The final child has tested positive here, too. So that's the whole family.

Glad you're on the mend. Hope every else feels better soon and can manage a bit of summer holiday!

Scarecrow2016 · 27/07/2021 09:26

I'm on day 6 and feel fine now. Bit of a cold and still have the cough but physically feel fine. Hooray for vaccines.

JemimaMoon · 27/07/2021 10:28

Absolutely 👍🏼
