Ermmm... isn't the aim of being fully vaccinated to keep people out of hospital?? The whole idea is not to put the NHS under pressure, or has that been conveniently forgotten?

And it likely has kept many many many people out of hospital, seen as though the most at risk groups have been vaccinated now, it's not surprising that they make up a % of those in hospital, its not like its the case that young people are suddenly at high risk of being hospitalised so there's no reason the unvaccinated would start being huge numbers. During a much more transmissible 'wave' hospitalizations are proportionately low compared to previously which is great news and shows the vaccination programme is making a difference.

I'm double jabbed , but I know people who are refusing any of it. Will they be swayed if it turns out you won't be able to do anything much ?
Especially as they liked a trip out to the pub etc pre covid.
Is this just a way of making it mandatory by stealth ? We know how to get them to behave ?

I’m not vaccinated. This won’t make me get the vaccine. It just gives me more hatred for this shower of shite. Unlike them, I’ve actually followed all the rules, stayed home, isolated when told to do so, wore masks, got regular tests, been a keyworker....but now a negative test won’t be good enough. They can just fuck off.

This is not a proper freedom day is it?
Having listened to that it sounds like we are having a firebreak right now but restrictions could be back in August/September and all we can do is cross our fingers and decline JVT's invitation for beers in his garden shed

And no, I wasn't trying to be "goady" (nice try though). I wouldn't expect anyone to want minorities to be disadvantaged, but if they press ahead with this passport it seems likely to create more issues around unequal access and I'd like to know how that's going to be handled

I've just started watching the briefing after reading this thread that he looks unwell and I have to say he sounds a bit nasally like he's congested. I wonder if he can smell the bullshit he spouts or has his sense of smell totally gone?

I'm with you. We have literally behaved ourselves completely, not breaking any rules and we reserve our human right not to have a vaccine but that will mean alienation. I feel like I am in some sort of fucked up Hollywood movie. The world has gone completely to shit and I don't want to be a part of it anymore.

I'm confused by this conference. He said people would need to show vaccine passports to enter nightclubs but later he seemed to imply this might only be a possibility. Everything is normally leaked before the conference and all the commentators seemed surprised by the announcement. Did he just fuck up completely and say the wrong thing?

The other thing that confused me was that they seemed to imply that there wouldn't be enough tests if cases got too high. How will they track new variants if no one knows who has it?

I’ve just said to my partner, I’m not sure I want to be in a society that does this to people do totally get you feeling that way.

We pretend people have freedom and choice but if you don’t make the ‘right’ choice, they’ll force by coercion. If that doesn’t work, you’re forced out of society. When a test would be just as good as the vaccine, I find it sickening. If only it was a movie.

My partner is vaccinated and is equally as disgusted.
