What's actually changing tomorrow?

Like really?
As far as I'm aware many restaurants, zoos attractions and supermarkets have made a social media statement saying they will be keeping restrictions on place ie booking online before, cashless, social distancing and masks are advised.
So WHAT IS actually going to be different from tomorrow?

Quite a lot is changing.

No legal obligation to wear a mask. Nightclubs open. No social distancing at restaurants and pubs etc so tables don’t need to be spaced. Gyms full capacity. No pre-booking needed at places like National Trust. No more school bubbles. No need to quarantine coming back from amber countries. And that’s just the top of my head.

Some are on at midnight tonight! Not going as I am far too old
Parker231 · 18/07/2021 22:17

@gardeninggirl68 - it is their premises so they can set the rules. From the local Facebook page their rules are supported by the local community.

gardeninggirl68 · 18/07/2021 22:19

they cannot legally deny entry. is the butcher shop?

Parker231 · 18/07/2021 22:23

It is most of the local shops - independent greengrocers, flower shop, deli, wine bar and bakery. May be more by now. Signs are on the doors and their website stating that to protect staff and customers, masks will remain in force.

Dollpiglet · 18/07/2021 22:24

I couldn't keep up with the rule changes since before we got put into tiers so I just gave up with it all. No idea we still had a rule of six!

Blessex · 18/07/2021 22:29

@Parker231 not sure that will be enforceable to stop people buying food without something that is no longer illegal to do

TheVampiresWife · 18/07/2021 22:33

The local community can support them as much as they like - if they deny service to someone with a health condition which prevents them wearing a mask, particularly now there's no law regarding mask wearing, they'll very quickly discover that discrimination isn't good for business.

Parker231 · 18/07/2021 22:41

I’m sure the exemptions for those who physically cannot wear a mask will remain. For everyone else masks remain which I support.

Parker231 · 18/07/2021 22:46

Waterstones bookshop and London Borough market are also continuing with masks.

You can't be exempt from a law which doesn't exist.

Waterstones have said they will be 'encouraging' mask wearing, that's all.
Gertie75 · 18/07/2021 22:50

I'm curious as to how shops plan to 'encourage' mask wearing, I was reading an article earlier which had statements from all the well known supermarkets and they all said they would still encourage it.

Does anyone work at the supermarkets and know exactly what the plan is? Will they be stopping people at the door or refusing entry or just have signs up saying it's encouraged?

The government have fudged it, so it's left to individual choice and common sense.
Blessex · 18/07/2021 22:56

@Gertie75 of course they won’t refuse entry. You can’t stop people buying food because they are disobeying a non existent law.

salemcat · 18/07/2021 22:57

Bugger all here thankfully.

Carycy · 18/07/2021 22:58

It’s lockdown 4.0 with a different spin. Everything is opening up but expect to get a test or call telling you or one of your kids has to isolate. So not really opening up as you are to scared to go anywhere.

Ohpulltheotherone · 18/07/2021 23:05

It will be interesting to see if GPs start getting their act together and offering future dated appointments and face to face… or whether we have to continue this ridiculous charade of triage by receptionist, submit photos and evidence by text message, further triage by GP, random withheld number phone call at any point during the day, told you don’t need an appointment and to “monitor”, repeat this 3 times before you can actually secure a face to face.

Have the face to face and resolved in 5 minutes.

Gertie75 · 18/07/2021 23:13

Our GP's have already sent texts saying that nothing is changing, nobody is allowed into the building unless they've had a phone consultation first and then invited by the gp for a face to face

PrettyLittleFlies · 19/07/2021 04:07

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow

I’ve just read Israel are reimposing lockdown after opening up for 4 weeks……
And UK expected to follow - or incur extreme sanctions for basically breeding new variants. What a cock up.
Florelei · 19/07/2021 06:36

You are wrong. Unless they are acting in a discriminatory fashion, private premises can set whatever rules they like as a condition of entry. Whether those conditions are actually enforced is a different matter.
TheFormidableMrsC · 19/07/2021 14:05

I had to pop to our local town this morning and was pleasantly surprised to see that most people are still using masks. I think people are aware that this is a monumental fuck up 🤷🏻‍♀️
