What's actually changing tomorrow?

LifesTooShortYOLO · 18/07/2021 20:10

Like really?
As far as I'm aware many restaurants, zoos attractions and supermarkets have made a social media statement saying they will be keeping restrictions on place ie booking online before, cashless, social distancing and masks are advised.
So WHAT IS actually going to be different from tomorrow?

Hopefully not a lot really.

I am very happy to live by the current rules and restrictions (because let's face it they are really not that strict) and would hope the vast majority of the population take a similar approach.

Darbs76 · 18/07/2021 20:15

Well you can probably order a drink at the bar in some places and go clubbing. None of which I’ll be doing

wendz86 · 18/07/2021 20:17

Most gyms round here are going back to full capacity for classes and using the gym.

It's freedom day don't you know, nothing is illegal do as you please, except be careful and do the right thing

SonnetForSpring · 18/07/2021 20:17

The government are sick of getting the blame for restrictions so they have absolved themselves of responsibility. Hopefully, there's enough smart businesses and people to maintain some level of defence against increasing covid cases. Nothing will change for me tomorrow.

Megasausagehead · 18/07/2021 20:19

Nothing.

Absolutely nothing.

SeaShoreGalore · 18/07/2021 20:19

No masks!

notacooldad · 18/07/2021 20:20

I'm no type sure. I still can't travel freely to different countries.
However I have been going to hairdressers, the cinema, pubs and restaurants, gigs ,meeting friends, having beauty treatments, had afternoon tea out, stayed in hotels and so on. I'm cycling, walking, going to the gym, running and going to yoga.

I'm happy doing what I'm doing.

TooWicked · 18/07/2021 20:21

No legal requirement to wear a mask or socially distance.

No limit on how many people you can meet up with or where.

You can have a drink standing up at a pub, gyms can restart classes.

No limit on number of attendees at weddings, funerals, christenings, parties, etc.

No limit on the number of visitors a care home resident is allowed.

Lifting of the “work from home where possible” instruction.

That’s just off the top of my head. I’m sure there’s more.

Pan2 · 18/07/2021 20:21

People on public transport who are particularly vulnerable are seeing their chances of serious illness massively increase.

Is that the sort of thing you mean OP?

  1. Vaccines are not 100% effective
  2. Masks protect other people from risks of infection from the wearer.

Two facts people seem to struggle to understand.

Mummyme87 · 18/07/2021 20:22

A lot of gyms are increasing floor capacity and class sizes, mine is.

Clubs will be open.

You can order a drink at the bar.

Weddings and funerals are unrestricted

userxx · 18/07/2021 20:23

@AntiMaskersAreTwats

We’ll be able to identify the selfish twats more easily from their lack of masks Grin

And the judgemental twats with their masked tut-tuts and overly dramatic eye rolls.

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 18/07/2021 20:29

tomorrow is a liability shift. if it goes from bad to worse, it’s our fault not theirs.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 18/07/2021 20:31

I’ve just read Israel are reimposing lockdown after opening up for 4 weeks……

Whenthedealgoesdown · 18/07/2021 20:33

I'm going to see Tom Jone at Newmarket Nights horse racing on Friday, I don't think that would have been possible before the 19th even though it's mostly outside.

Whenthedealgoesdown · 18/07/2021 20:34

Also National Trust needn't be booked anymore

paxman · 18/07/2021 20:36

Schools not doing contact tracing from tomorrow

StCharlotte · 18/07/2021 20:40

From a personal point of view, DH can go to football again and we can dance at the two weddings I've got coming up.

ComtesseDeSpair · 18/07/2021 20:44

I’m looking forward to going to nightclubs with friends over the next three weekends. I’ve really REALLY missed partying.

Other than that - and restrictions removed for other large events / venues - I don’t think a lot is changing, in practical terms. I’ll still stick with a mask in shops and on public transport etc, not because I think they’re necessary for me personally but because they clearly make more anxious / unwell people feel safer and it’s a small thing I can do to support that.

Thewiseoneincognito · 18/07/2021 20:57

The pill poppers and coke heads get to go clubbing. I think that’s the biggest change. Once the severity of this catastrophic mistake becomes clear we’ll be reversing Freedom fairly rapidly.

LifesTooShortYOLO · 18/07/2021 21:01

@paxman

Ooh this is interesting what does this mean exactly? If someone is a confirmed case in the school class or year then the rest of the class won't have to isolate just in case?

The nightclub that we have owned for 14 years will be able to open for the first time since March 2020.

The support for nightclubs and a couple of other businesses that have been unable to trade at all since initial lockdown has been seriously lacking.

I’m not expecting us to be allowed to trade for long.

FindingMeno · 18/07/2021 21:05

What's going to happen is that loads of us who deal with the public in our workplaces are going to be faced with droves of people not wearing masks and not socially distancing.

AlfieandAnnieRose · 18/07/2021 21:06

All the above plus Libraries are re introducing their groups, venues eg soft play can now hold parties
