Double vaccinated but had chills in the night. Slight headache this morning. DD has covid currently. This is positive isn't it?

I can't see the line

worktrip · 17/07/2021 10:26

I'd say yes, so get a par. Dh had all negative LFT but a positive PcR and had mild symptoms.

AntiMaskersAreTwats · 17/07/2021 10:26

@Terminallysleepdeprived

LFT tests can show positive for other viruses so I wouldn't assume it is covid given the very faint line. Get a pcr test before panicking
Now people really are just making shit up Grin If it went positive for other viruses what would be the point of them? Don’t believe everything you read from Covid spreaders on the internet Confused

Saw this on Reddit recently: www.reddit.com/r/CoronavirusUK/comments/ohh4r8/lateral_flows_in_action/

They were PCR+ but also did LFTs from first date of symptoms out of curiosity. You can see the test line fades as the days go on so perfectly plausible that it could be faint early in an infection as well.

gamerchick · 17/07/2021 10:28

have to do a daily LFT because of the study I am on

I did the same study. You have to take a photo of it anyway and that's a positive result.

I have now done a PCR so we'll see I guess

Good luck.

AvaCallanach · 17/07/2021 10:31

Yes gamer, I sent in the photo and ticked the "positive" box though I am not really sure. Did the follow up PCR as instructed. I will update the thread.

There's definitely a line on this, I can see it without zooming in. Faint lines do count according to the advice in the accompanying booklet.

Some of the responses on this thread are a bit worrying, especially the very scathing ones.

Hope you're ok OP?

It's a good study, although I thought I was going to start getting nose bleeds near the end.

Good luck for your PCR.

Mykittensaremyfriends · 17/07/2021 11:43

Yes it's positive I'm afraid. A friend and her whole family have had it recently and said that the lateral flow tests were really faint and could have been easily missed as being positive but a PCR test confirmed it and all went on to have symptoms.

Jackgrealishscurtains · 17/07/2021 11:46

I think that's positive. I have done tonnes of LFTs now (for work), all negative, and I have never had so much as a hint of a line - it's always completely clear that there is absolutely nothing at the bottom.

Sorry, that sounds like some kind of stealth boast, didn't mean it to! 😂😂😂

Wakeupin2022 · 17/07/2021 11:52

Let's put it another way to some posters.......

Any negative LFT that I have seen didn't look like that. No amount of squinting of gazing at it for ages would make me able to see a line.

This one I can see a line and OP also has some mild symptoms plus a child with Covid.

OP I am glad you have booked the PCR. Good luck whatever the result.

AvaCallanach · 17/07/2021 12:32

Make that two kids with covid. Just got eldest's positive PCR back.
Fucking hell.

My husband had one that faint last weekend and he tested positive on a pcr test.

Abraxan · 17/07/2021 12:43

@Paddingtonthebear

Crikey I would read that as negative.

These are positive tests I’ve seen posted online that look much more definitive

Any line, no matter how faint, is to be treated as positive. Imagine it as a pregnancy test - even a faint line counts as positive.

Op should confirm using a pcr,

Abraxan · 17/07/2021 12:44

@OhWhyDidTheyDoIt

I'd say negative. I saw hundreds of these useless fuckers during ridiculous school testing regime earlier this year.

A positive was clearly positive. It was a clear Y/N. It is not like a pregnancy test.

This isn't true and it says it in the information booklet plus online guidance. Any line, regardless how faint, should be treated as positive and confirmed using pcr.
olidora63 · 17/07/2021 12:50

Looks negative…I genuinely cannot see the second line

Fivetoomany · 17/07/2021 12:51

These threads are so annoying. I did the LFT training for testing in schools. No matter how faint the line, it is still positive!! OP you have a clear positive and need a PCR.

CarpeVitam · 17/07/2021 12:55

@OhWhyDidTheyDoIt

If you want to justify taking a PCR test just fucking book one.

If you are desperate for the line to appear, apparently lemon juice causes a positive result...listened to too much teen-talk at work. Iron bru=negative though, so don't use that.

Well aren't you a charmer! 🙄
BitchIAmFromChicago · 17/07/2021 12:57

Positive I’m afraid! Here’s mine.

No idea why it’s uploaded a pic of my gin too! 🙄

Okki · 17/07/2021 13:01

DD had a very faint line. She did another test an hr later and was definitely positive as confirmed by PCR. Hope you all recover quickly.

ImInACage · 17/07/2021 13:03

Mine looked like that OP,. A PCR yesterday was also positive.

I was rather thinking it was an apt expression of sympathy! It's my 50th birthday tomorrow :(

I had assumed the positive line would much clearer. I will look more closely at LFTs. DS1 testing daily as isolating as a close contact but DS2 at school and DH in busy workplace.

Motorina · 17/07/2021 13:44

Basically the more virus on the swab, the darker the line. Very faint lines are positive, and not unlikely very early in the infection of in vaccinated people.

Having said that, I can’t see any line on that photo. But, given the OP says it’s there, I reckon that says more about my phone than her test.

Get a PCR. And I hope you’re all on the mend soon.
