Double vaccinated but had chills in the night. Slight headache this morning. DD has covid currently. This is positive isn't it?

Just to add my 2 pennies worth...
I think that's a negative, cannot see a 2nd line at all Confused

Thirtyrock39 · 17/07/2021 09:43

I can see a second line
You have symptoms so should be checking with a pcr
I've known a few double vaccinated friends who had positive pcr tests following a negative ltf so I would definitely be checking

lagerandblack · 17/07/2021 09:44

its negative

OhWhyDidTheyDoIt · 17/07/2021 09:45

I don't see how you ignoring anything that wasn't a strong line is proof of anything?

We didn't ignore anything that wasn't a strong line. There were lines. Or no lines.

OPs photo...no line.

If she is unsure surely she should just take another

Or book herself on for a PCR

Or not go to work if that is what she wants.

I just really don't know what she wants from this thread... confirmation not to go to work?

Whinge · 17/07/2021 09:49

OPs photo...no line.

I can see a line, as can many other posters.

I took the OPs post as asking for advice. I'm not sure why you seem determined to make out she only wants a positive test to avoid going to work. Confused

ihtwsf · 17/07/2021 09:52

It's very very faint.
Do another one.
Or just book the PCR test.

skyvv90 · 17/07/2021 09:52

There's clearly a very very faint line. I believe the literature says to take even the faintest line as a positive iirc.

I want to do the right thing (and am not due in work today, thanks).

Months back in April I posted a similar query of my son's test. Was told positives are strong and obvious so we visited grandmother - luckily outside and distanced. He then developed symptoms and tested positive on PCR 2 days later. So sorry, but I don't believe that they aren't a bit like pregnancy tests. As I am double vaccinated I wouldn't necessarily expect to get a strong positive, but on the other hand I could be infectious if it's a weak early positive.

@OhWhyDidTheyDoIt

If you want to justify taking a PCR test just fucking book one.

If you are desperate for the line to appear, apparently lemon juice causes a positive result...listened to too much teen-talk at work. Iron bru=negative though, so don't use that.

Lemon juice didn’t work when I tried it . 3 times
HaveANiceFuckingDay · 17/07/2021 09:54

I’d say that was negative . I can’t see a 2nd line at all 🤷🏼‍♀️

NotMyCat · 17/07/2021 09:56

I can see the line

cricketmum84 · 17/07/2021 09:58

I can't see a line. However it clearly says in the LFT test ordering website that an LFT isn't appropriate if you have symptoms.

If symptomatic then book a PCR. Especially as your DD is positive!

Hope you feel better soon.

Candyflosscrochet · 17/07/2021 09:58

There are symptoms, there's a positive case in the household, there's a line on the test, so just isolate and book a PCR.
Lft's are like preganacy tests, as in, a line is a line and therefore positive. It doesn't need to be as strong as the control line.
No wonder cases are rising extortionately if people are misreading these tests...you're better off not doing them if you don't know how to read them.

I have to do a daily LFT because of the study I am on.

I have now done a PCR so we'll see I guess.

@AvaCallanach ah I missed that bit

Fingers crossed for a negative then!!

PeonyTime · 17/07/2021 10:03

DS had a faint shadow of a positive on his lateral flow. If I hadnt seen 1000s of negatives through work, I'd have dismissed it. It was confirmed by pcr with a sample taken 4 hrs later.
I'd say that has a strong chance of being positive, and that you shouldnt go out and about today, given the trial you are on.
I'm guessing it also means pcr confirmation. Sorry.

PuppyMonkey · 17/07/2021 10:04

I find these threads fascinating as I can literally never see the line. Same with the Am I Pregnant threads.Grin

In fact, all these negative LFTs we’ve had in our house, maybe I’m just too crap to spot the lines. Blush

Wellbythebloodyhell · 17/07/2021 10:06

If you are already isolating why do you need to test anyway, you'll have no close contacts to inform, just stay home a bit longer

AvaCallanach · 17/07/2021 10:09

Because I am on a research study where I have to complete and report a daily LFT and if it's negative I don't have to fully isolate - can act like we're in lockdown and go to work, essential journeys, dog walk etc.

Nikki078 · 17/07/2021 10:11

I'd say negative but if you have a +ve case at home and symptoms yourself I'd book a pcr to confirm it.

tedsletterofthelaw · 17/07/2021 10:18

If it was just a routine LFT I'd take it as negative but as your DD is positive I'd book a PCR just to be sure.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 17/07/2021 10:19

If you look at page 14 the test line doesn't need to be dark to be a positive, much like a pregnancy test any line no matter how faint is a positive

Icantstopeatinglol · 17/07/2021 10:22

I would definitely book a pcr. Mine looked similar and got a positive pcr test result. My lft is attached.

I think this is a positive LFT?
Paddingtonthebear · 17/07/2021 10:22

In that document just posted I can def see the examples of weak bands. Can’t see it in the OP’s photo. It’s irrelevant anyway as it needs a pcr test to confirm

PandasCatsWolves · 17/07/2021 10:24

I had one like that. Did another 4 the same.
Got a negative PCR but it was the right thing to do.
