Double vaccinated but had chills in the night. Slight headache this morning. DD has covid currently. This is positive isn't it?

There’s a line. Plus symptoms plus Covid in the household! I’d say hugely unlikely to be a false positive in those circumstances.

Tatapie · 17/07/2021 14:36

Mine, DS was positive (pcr) at the time. Lft was stronger / clearer the next day and Subsequently confirmed by pcr.

I think this is a positive LFT?
Tatapie · 17/07/2021 14:38

Sorry about your birthday OP Envy

Tatapie · 17/07/2021 14:38

And about the green face, no idea why that went on

rainbowfairydust · 17/07/2021 14:50

Can anyone advise on my son getting a line like this... But about an hour after the test? We have done 3 tests and all negative at 30 mins but they get a line later on, about an hour or so after. I know you are supposed to discard them... But could this be an early positive? He is isolating from a positive case at school and is due a pcr in 3 days anyway.. But the faint line on the lft after the 30 mins are bugging me!

Darbs76 · 17/07/2021 14:54

Don’t have my glasses on so can’t see it but this is my son’s positive LFT. Confirmed by PCR the next day. Day 4 now and he’s starting to get better

I think this is a positive LFT?
Darbs76 · 17/07/2021 14:55

@rainbowfairydust - a friend told me they left her son’s LFT on the side and went out, when they got back 2hrs later a very faint line had appeared. This was confirmed by PCR that he did have Covid

AvaCallanach · 17/07/2021 15:00

I have just had an argument with test and trace. They are trying to reset the whole family's 10 day isolation period b/c son #2 has now tested positive. I understand that this should not be the case but they were insistent. Obviously ds2 needs to stay in 10 days but DD who tested positive on 12th doesn't, neither does DH who has no symptoms. Of course I couldn't find the PHE graphic whilst on the call. I am right, aren't I?

To clarify : whole family isolating 12 to 23rd due to 1st positive

Son will isolate 15-25 as he caught it later

But family members who haven't caught it or who were the first infected are allowed out after the initial 10 days.

Yes you are right!

The reason I know is because DS tested positive on Sun, and as long as DH tests negative every day on LFT’s he is able to have his chemo on Weds.

chesirecat99 · 17/07/2021 15:26

Yes, you're right about the rules but you will have to argue it with T&T as if they tell you to self isolate it's illegal not to do it.

DS had negative LFTs on day 1 and 2 of symptoms, then a very faint line on the evening of day 2 like yours. Positive PCR on day 2, very strong line on day 3.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 17/07/2021 15:29

Expect your DH to get it too! Our double vaccinated 18yr old brought covid into the house (he's CEV so not surprising really - he obviously didn't raise much immunity to the vaccination) anyhow it ripped through the other 10 members of the family within a week despite us confining him to his bedroom as soon as he got symptoms. If it's delta (which it probably is) you've no chance! Fortunately, DH and I are double vaccinated so only got mild symptoms - gastric upset and runny nose + headache & DD 20 (single vaccinated) got milder symptoms of the usual type. All others were really quite unwell - 17, 14, 11 (required paramedic attention - no underlying conditions), 9, 7, 4 and 7 months.

Tatapie · 17/07/2021 17:00

@AvaCallanach don't bother arguing with t & t, you are correct but the computer system can't handle households. I'm in this position and was contacted by my local Covid team when no 2 in house was positive, they said they can't work around the contact notification etc but just to ignore!!!

Summersdreaming · 17/07/2021 17:36

I got the same text on Tuesday saying I could do a LFT each day and not isolate after DP tested positive.. thankfully I did a PCR on Tues or I'd have been spreading my covid all over the office, attended a wedding and been to Great Yorkshire Show this week whilst positive.. well until my symptoms started at least. Every LFT I've done has been negative.

GinPink · 17/07/2021 17:51

Sorry about the positive pcr OP Thanks this thread is another example of people on Mumsnet being angry as fuck over things for no reason! Well done for checking and doing the right thing.

Bleddyansum · 17/07/2021 17:59

Summersdreaming who was the text from? Public Health England contacted DH, it certainly isn’t as lax as that!

jumpbounce · 17/07/2021 18:01

Given the amount of people on here who think it has to be a blazing obvious line to be positive does nobody read the instructions on the tests kits? Where it says about faint lines being positive and even shows illustrations!

gamerchick · 17/07/2021 18:05

@Bleddyansum

Yes you are right!

The reason I know is because DS tested positive on Sun, and as long as DH tests negative every day on LFT’s he is able to have his chemo on Weds.

So if he tests positive he just isn't allowed his chemo?
Summersdreaming · 17/07/2021 18:08

Yep Bleddy PHE Daily Contact Testing Study. Sorry I don't know what you mean about lax, do you mean if I'd signed up and told them I had events planned I wouldn't have been able to take part?

Just to be clear I isolated from dp testing positive, so no spreading!

Bleddyansum · 17/07/2021 18:17

gamerchick
No - he was due Mon but put forward to Weds, as that will be his 10 days up. If he tests positive between now and then he will have missed a whole cycle as he needs every 2 weeks.

This is why I’m all for LFT, DS had a faint line too same as OP. We are extra cautious, as he is a weak link and was testing daily. No symptoms, double jabbed as are we, so lucky to pick it up early enough (hopefully).

Bleddyansum · 17/07/2021 18:28

Summersdreaming
You get assigned one of 2 groups, and can’t choose.
The going out one has to take a PCR and LF on first day, then LF every day and if clear can go to work (you have to inform work you are in study) or essential activities. PCR at end of study, or as OP has done take one for positive LFT.

I also had this argument with T&T two weeks ago. Ignore the dates on their later texts and go with the original 10 days. It’s absolutely ridiculous that their software can’t handle household groups, and people get blunt tool texts that keep extending their isolation periods. It’s not illegal to follow the actual procedure laid down in law, instead of their misunderstood made up one!

Luckymummytoone · 17/07/2021 20:52

I can’t believe so many people can’t see a line!
There’s a definite line 😑

Ah OK, not just do a LFT and carry on as usual then!

Fingers crossed your husband can get to his chemo apt!

AvaCallanach · 18/07/2021 09:47

Update: today's LFT absolutely clear positive (attached) ohwhydidtheydoit maybe you need to learn from this that LFTs can indeed be like pregnancy tests.

I think this is a positive LFT?
