To wonder why people are still breaking covid rules?

I was outside earlier and I heard my neighbours son ask his dad if he could go to the shop, his dad said he didn't know as they're isolating and the boy told him he feels fine now and his dad let him go!

He’d be coming into contact with the cashier and other people in the shop, potentially vulnerable people.

Aibu to wonder why people still don't get it? In July 2021!

SnitchyBitch I can go in to my local shop and not be near a single person nearly every time I’m in there and then use the self-serve checkout

And you can still catch the virus from airborne particles, particles that stay suspended in the air for some time

Why, even now, does airborne transmission have to be explained over and over again

It's people like him that are why my family of five are currently all poorly with Covid. - you do know that there are literally thousands of bacteria and virus that can cause illness, even death? Covid is not even in the top 10 of those with highest death rate. It's not ebola!

Your family need to cope with viruses and bacteria - it's what we have an Immune System for.

You cannot stop them catching, or being ill with, bacteria and viruses.

Who will you blame if they get Noro? Or Flu? They will be ill, sometimes it's nasty. They will get over it.
Boost their Immune Systems, take Vitamins (high dose Vit C, Vit D and K2, ) and minerals, get fresh air and exercise, eat well. Get exposed to bugs.

DO NOT sit indoors, away from fresh air and sunlight, and people. Basically the opposite of what the Gov said in the beginning.

@rosie39forever

we went to DS6's Sportsday because that's what the school arranged
didn't go to DS5 & DD's because that's what their school decided to do.

neither has anything to do with Wembley or Wimbledon where you can only go in if you are either double vaxxed or have a negative test you did that morning.

So stop linking the two, they are unrelated.

JustGiveMeGin · 10/07/2021 11:32

With regards to businesses, any that require me to wear a mask after the 19th won't be getting my custom. Simples.

SpringRainbow · 10/07/2021 11:36

That is fine, but others will avoid businesses that don’t require masks.

Each business will have to decide what is best for them and their customers.

Wizzbangfizz · 10/07/2021 11:50

The rules are nonsensical and contradictory and will shortly be lifted and a return to personal responsibility and people going back to judging their own risk levels and acting accordingly will be back thank god.

The fetishisation of rules and restrictions by some on here is just beyond anything I've encountered in real life.

sadperson16 · 10/07/2021 12:10

@Sparechange, spectacular stupidity. I await further examples.

MercyBooth · 10/07/2021 16:55

My nephew has incredibly complex disabilities. A bog standard cold can put him in hospital. Nobody gave one single shiny shite about people like him before covid, and they'll go back to not giving a shite when this is over. The afraid are using people like him to hide behind, pretending they care about "the vulnerable" but actually the fear is for themselves

YY @LucilleTheVampireBat As well as using them as a tool to emotionally blackmail others.

MercyBooth · 10/07/2021 17:00

@Turkishangora That must have been incredibly stressful being pregnant at that time Flowers

CovidCorvid · 10/07/2021 18:15

I know someone who knowing she had covid travelled to a funeral and stayed overnight in a hotel and went to the funeral! She says you’re allowed to break quarantine for a funeral. Whether she actually believes that or was just fobbing off our mutual friend I have no idea. But some people are fucking bonkers!

Because we are over it! Because we have to live?

Inastatus · 10/07/2021 18:30

You really can’t think why some people may have started to break the rules after 18 months of restrictions?!

CheddarGorge · 10/07/2021 18:42

@ICECream821

I washed my shopping I isolated I kept my distance - when the government allows Wimbledon and Wembley to go ahead I’m not stopping my isolating kids going to their swimming lessons!
Wow... maybe you're the reason why my dd is bed bound right now and I'm sitting here with asthma terrified I'm going to catch it from her

If you think that of them @Hairwizard why would you want to behave like them? Confused

TheTallOakTrees · 10/07/2021 19:22

@rijks

He had symptoms if he said he felt fine ‘now’ so he shouldn't have gone to the shop whilst isolating for symptoms as he could spread it to others. The local shop to us is a tesco not a small corner shop.
Instead of asking us, what did the boy's father day?
Sparklingbrook · 10/07/2021 19:25

I think the OP is long gone. Confused

ICECream821 · 10/07/2021 20:57

@CheddarGorge really! Or do you think it’s fucking Wembley and everything else that’s open! Have you even walked around places? You should see pubs and restaurants in the evenings packed!

CheddarGorge · 10/07/2021 21:02

I don't know what it is. It's probably the friend whose house she went over last weekend who only now have said their ds was sick at the time and he went on to test positive. People are stupid

I haven't been out personally but yeah I think the football and Wimbledon and pubs etc are taking the utter piss

Hoppinggreen · 10/07/2021 21:56

Because we have had enough and a lot of it makes no sense anyway.
I flew home yesterday from an Amber country - I had to have a negative test before flying, as did everyone else on the plane.
I now have to quarantine for 10 days, which I am doing apart from taking my dog out (I can do this without meeting anyone) and have to use some very overpriced tests on days 2 and 8 while being phoned by someone who is calling me on my mobile so has no real idea of where I am.
Also my quarantine ends on 19th - when the whole concept of quarantine ends. Why am I potentially contagious on 19th but nobody is after that?
I am probably going to meet my friend on 18th before she flies home as she lives abroad and I haven’t seen her for 2 years.
Plus I am double vaccinated

Backofbeyond50 · 10/07/2021 22:57

MercyBooth

*@MilkTwoSugarsThanksThis is whats really got to me throughout this whole thing. DH has COPD and flu could be dangerous for him but no one gave a shit before.
The cognitive dissonance is stark

Equally though no one gave a flying fuck about kids like my dd2 who has not received a full time education since 2019 and missed virtually all of year 9 and the first term of year 10 due to anxiety and SEN and the thousands more like her.
Yet when schools closed during lockdown one and three it was the end of the world and. they will never catch up.
Equally all the poor people including children who missed out on cancer treatment at the start who were used as a means of saying how bad lockdown was suddenly no longer matter any more as the vaccine may not work or even be available to them.
Now isolation is ending for kids how on earth can the parents of these children protect them. O yes they can homeschool them which was so awful for kids.

Backofbeyond50 · 10/07/2021 23:05

Wel l know a family who had two kids isolating before Christmas but decided that since the other kids had to go to school she might as well take them on school run to local Primary and pop into local shop etc. The isolating kids were year 9 and 11 and no SEN. I know people don't advertise SEN but these kids are fully independent and volunteer etc
According to her staying home was pointless as the other kids had to go to school anyway.
COVID was rife in our area back than.
I think now we are do close to the lifting of all restrictions there will be even less compliance.

I feel like the ‘lucky’ or the ‘wise’ are living in their own world. Those who have been lucky since lockdown one to shut themselves away as they’re not frontline in shops/nhs etc. The ‘wise’ being the ones who think they know it all but have no idea of what it’s actually out there!! People are mixing - going to each others homes. Inside/outside - eating out in large groups. People are fed up!!! So why should my DC isolate cos a happy testing parent decides to do an LfT on an asymptomatic kid?
