Letting it Rip

Why does covid rip rather than spread?

Does flu rip too?

Covid always seems to be ripping through something.

Also lots of ‘selfish’ people daring to drive 2 minutes round the corner for a non essential journey. Didn’t they realise the huge risk they were taking of causing a major pile and adding to the immense pressure already upon the emergency services and NHS.

FFS it's a virus, not Dinosaurs

My teen ds muttered that countless times last year Grin

Emails that end 'stay safe' get right on my tit ends.

I was actually going to wash my hands in sunflower oil then play with a chainsaw but now I'll reconsider.

There were people criticising older folks for 'popping out' to the corner shop to buy the paper in the morning. The 'argument' was that newspapers aren't 'essential' and the old dears were using it as an 'excuse' to get out of the house.

And no doubt the person who wrote that post would chastise others for being 'selfish' and not caring about others.

I hate it.

Also hate 'x to be SCRAPPED'. You mean 'ended?

MarshaBradyo · 09/07/2021 18:46

And ‘governments have kept their population safe’. I mean the whole lot of you amazing.

Plus of course now masks are optional we’re all drunk drivers without seatbelts.

I thought we were all like smokers who had to be banned from indoors Grin

"Stay Safe" makes me want to flippantly say "Oh, and I was really tempted to jump out in front of a juggernaut"

The buses seem to be having a quiet phase... I reckon that their suspensions are being upgraded to cope with all the school pupils and teachers that must no doubt be due to be thrown under them in September.

While the buses are enjoying a break from having people thrown under them, the wolves seem to have stepped in. Lots of people are being thrown to the wolves recently.

It'll be lions next. Thrown to the lions.

Never daffodils or bunnies, is it?

"Stay safe" “Keeping everyone safe" "Keeping you safe"

FFS it's a virus, not Dinosaurs. I don't need to be kept safe, I'll sort myself out, thanks. I've been looking before I cross the road for years, I've got plenty of experience.

I just got an email from work outlining all the ways they are 'keeping us safe'. Which means masks, SD, booking a place in the office, 'hybrid' working etc.

I felt like writing back and saying, "But I don't want to be 'safe'! I've spent the last year being 'safe'! I don't need you to 'keep me safe'!"

Which is silly of course. It's not all about me and they have to think of everyone and have regulations to follow. But these constant reminders of the need to be 'safe' aren't reassuing to me. Quite the opposite.

Love this thread.

I’ve been ranting about this for ages.

What bout ‘dishing out’ vaccines. Never given, always dished out.

PiddleOfPuppies · 09/07/2021 19:39

Ahhh, this is the MN I knew and loved. The humour is restoring!

I'm also averse to 'keeping my loved ones safe' and will actively avoid anywhere that boasts about being 'covid secure'.

TheVampiresWife · 09/07/2021 20:06

We're all forgetting to be grateful to the supermarkets for 'feeding the nation' and 'keeping the nation fed' in these unprecedented times. The big-hearted benevolent bastards they are.

(I mean the companies using this sort of stuff as a marketing ploy, not supermarket staff, who are all fantastic obvs for making sure I have been kept in wine throughout)

@Unicornish

"stay home" - so bloody American. It is "stay AT home" surely?
But “bloody” Americans don’t say “down the pub” ……
