Letting it Rip

Why does covid rip rather than spread?

Does flu rip too?

Covid always seems to be ripping through something.

OP posts:
Nonmaquillee · 09/07/2021 11:13

Oh, but is it SAFE?

MarshaBradyo · 09/07/2021 11:13

Laughing at this

😂

Blended as in we’ll let nae fucker who isn’t a KW dc in a school again

(Not calling dc above just using to represent general ambience at the time)

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 09/07/2021 11:14

It should be called Antisocial Distancing. As in...don't go near people. Social implies getting up close and personal.

And Zoom. Its just one video calling system. There's loads. They've been around for over 10years...

GoldenOmber · 09/07/2021 11:14

‘Covid secure’ always makes me imagine bouncers on the door ready to turf it out.

“You’re not coming in, you’re covid.”
“No I’m not! I’m a common cold coronavirus, look, I’ve got ID and everything!”
“That’s your older sister’s provisional driving license, covid. Recognise that spike protein anywhere. Out you go, sonny.”

CloudPop · 09/07/2021 11:14

@Aroundtheworldin80moves

Its because people 'flock' places
Hordes of them
CrunchyCarrot · 09/07/2021 11:15

It rips because it has a nasty spike. Grin

IcedPurple · 09/07/2021 11:15

The most commonly used phrase of all - social distancing - also puzzles me.

Distancing, OK. But 'social'? What's 'social' about sitting on a bus or standing in the queue at Tesco's? Maybe it's just me, but I don't get up to much by way of social activities in such contexts.

TheKeatingFive · 09/07/2021 11:15

Blended in the sense that it’s a blend between learning and not learning.

Too true 😆

AtomicBronde · 09/07/2021 11:16

We’ll be farting Covid bubbles soon! Let it rip!

Mulhollandmagoo · 09/07/2021 11:17

I think it just makes things sound more exciting!! I am with others on here who now HATE the word bubble, it makes me cringe!

TheKeatingFive · 09/07/2021 11:17

Oh god yeah COVID secure

What a load of total shite

And the only 'pods' I'm interested in are my delicious but very environmentally unfriendly Nespresso pods.

Let’s not forget slides!

MarshaBradyo · 09/07/2021 11:21

People that casually drop SD in in a list of what they want

Masks
Ventilation
Rota - remember sodding rotas they took over for a while
Small classes - oh and where might the students go ah yes that lovely empty purpose built set of buildings just nearby

SD

And consign large amounts education and livelihoods to dustbin

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 09/07/2021 11:24

Next slide please……

@GoldenOmber I’m tickled at the thought of
People throwing their children through the school doors, is this the new tuck and roll when throwing them out of the car when you’re late??? Grin

That one annoys me too.

I've seen so many posts over the past few weeks from people saying "I think they should keep masks mandatory. It's not a big deal is it?"

OK. I don't like masks and won't be wearing one when it's not mandatory, but it's a reasonable point. Masks aren't a huge deal on buses or in shops, if everything else is back to normal.

But invariably, they'll add that they also want 'social distancing' to remain, as though it just meant standing on yellow markers in the Tesco queue. SD is a very big deal and so many aspects of normal life unworkable, and of course unprofitable for many thousands of people whose businesses are affected. But they say it as though it were just a minor 'mitigation'.

Letting it Rip

Emotive language sends some into anxiety and hysteria Hmm some love drama

Use of factual language and perspective is IMO better.

TheKeatingFive · 09/07/2021 11:28

Oh I know.

There was a post a while ago that said something like ‘SD doesn’t cost anything’

I was about to spontaneously combust

TheTallOakTrees · 09/07/2021 11:29

I remember lurking around some of the more over the top threads when x were thrown under the bus Confused

CornishYarg · 09/07/2021 11:29

Can I add my dislike for the phrase "You do realise that..." at the beginning of posts on here. It's said in such a patronising way that it's clear that the author believes that the person it's directed at has the mental capacity of a pea and doesn't realise anything at all.

I hate that phrase, and not just on the Covid boards.

So patronising and supercillious.

Invariably the reaction to their banal piece of 'information' is 'Yes, thanks, I DO in fact realise that..."

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 09/07/2021 11:33

Long covid

As if post viral fatigue was never a thing before covid, I wish they would just call it what it is instead of using it as another excuse to never be allowed to do what we want ever again. Give me the rage
