Because no one wants to use them, what a waste of money.

@HeronLanyon

This is my page. Next page talks about how to register ‘result’. This page quite clearly connects registering with positives only. IMO !
That’s the page I read too.

The app keeps crashing on my phone - I have to open it about a billion times before it will stay open so I gave up with it and didn’t really look through it properly

PuppyMonkey · 25/06/2021 17:46

The next page is the 6th step you have to follow. Report your result. I’m sure it used to say “even if it’s negative” or maybe that was on the letter from school? I’m guessing people on here didn’t get a letter from school and/or didn’t read it either.

I only log if I need to for work etc

Letsgetreadytocrumble · 25/06/2021 17:50

I test twice a week for work and stopped registering on the Gov website after a couple of weeks, I just kept forgetting and then couldn't be arsed. I just inform work now.

AfternoonToffee · 25/06/2021 17:53

I register mine. I have to do the tests for work, I have an account and all the info is saved, I have some farty pants iPhone for work so use finger print to get in. I do have to put in my UON everytime. I also have to log on the work system (way more hassle) so I just do the two together.

I will have at least one spare test capsule as I had a dodgy swab. The codes are completely random so they don't even have a way of tracking them even they wanted to.

Streamingbannersofdawn · 25/06/2021 17:56

I can confirm that they are all in my cupboard at work (nursery). Our LA sent me 25 boxes of the things...we have three members of staff. I told them that was too many so they sent me another 25. Thank goodness you now have to order them yourself if you want them.

They also sent me 500 face masks...I'm good for the next few years I think.

HeronLanyon · 25/06/2021 18:02

Well they just need to change the guidance if they want us to report negatives. I am guilty of three unreported negatives and around 12 sitting in my kitchen unused.

Littleone638 · 25/06/2021 18:14

I used my last one from work on Monday before I took my child for a PCR test, and while I was at the test centre I saw they had some so I asked for some, they pretty much threw them at me, made me take more than I wanted and still wanted me to take more, but I didn’t have to sign for them or anything (I did when I collect them from work) so as far as anyone’s concerned they could be in a store room at the test centre. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But yeah I’m a bit shit at recording the results, i probably remember about 50% of the time.

99victoria · 25/06/2021 18:30

I've done a couple this last week because I've been working in a local secondary school. First time I've used them.

Really just doing it for my own peace of mind. I won't be logging the results

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 25/06/2021 18:32

@MrsFrisbyMouse

It's pretty simple. They handed them out like sweets to kids (mine kept coming home with loads of them).

They also made the registering of them a pain in the neck - making you input the same information every bloody time - so people just won't bother to register negative ones.

If you want people to use a system, you need to design that system to be as easy and as intuitive for them as possible.

Yep, that.

I do them twice a week for work. I stopped logging them last term and got a stern email from the boss - apparently they have access to who is logging them. It's a pain to have to open work email on a Sunday night to report to the Head AND have to log to the Gov.

VaccineSticker · 25/06/2021 19:01

I don’t know anyone who is logging the results.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 25/06/2021 19:07

@PurpleyBlue

My instructions tell me to register the result. It doesn't mention positive or negative. It just says result.

Are there two sets of instructions?

There might be more than that. I think there are two that were created here. One of which should have been retired. Mine still have the manufacturer's instructions in them which say to use when symptomatic...
Tradgarden · 25/06/2021 19:14

I had no idea you had to register them.

WrongKindOfFace · 25/06/2021 19:29

I’m also in the naughty corner. I did register then to start with but honestly it’s such a ball ache I have mostly given up.

The rest of the 600 million are on my kitchen table. I swear they breed.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 25/06/2021 19:34

My kids have not brought them home from school in ages, I've had to do a tour of the regional pharmacies to stock up. The 1st place only wanted to give me 1 box. 7 tests doesn't last a family of 5 testing twice a week very long!

Reporting doesn't have to take long, if you create an account it saves most of the info. Log on, scan QR code, tell it your result and go.

DarcyLewis · 25/06/2021 20:02

I've been testing 1-2 times a week but never bothered reporting a negative result.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 25/06/2021 20:51

I was given 4 boxes when I had a PCR test. I presume they're in a cupboard somewhere as I definitely haven't used them.

Warhertisuff · 25/06/2021 20:56

I've used quite a lot with myself and my children. I haven't religiously registered the results though (which were all negative).

BlondeCornish · 25/06/2021 20:57

Got loads of the bloody things here from my kids secondary school - they keep handing them out. Never used one, and no intention of starting

RoseMartha · 25/06/2021 21:04

My dc's came home with their first lot did one test then refused, (one of my dc is SN). Even after I contacted the school twice they still sent more tests home. We still have them.

When one of my dc had to isolate re school bubble burst. She did use one before she went back to school. School didnt want the unused tests back.

So we have a some of those 'missing' kits.

BarbarianMum · 25/06/2021 22:24

We have some too. I report the results to the school and to the Zoe app and just cant be arsed to report to the government too.

thesevenhillsofhome · 25/06/2021 23:09

There's 600 million in my cupboard! Secondary school keep sending them. Anyone want some?

ChocOrange1 · 26/06/2021 07:18

I wanted to do one test before visiting an elderly relative. They gave me 4 boxes full, so I have 27 tests sitting in the cupboard unused. I'm sure plenty of other prior have the same.

HeronLanyon · 26/06/2021 07:25

Further aspect of them - because of their awful rate of accuracy with false positives and negatives i did my first before seeing relative who’s just been through chemo. I didn’t trust the first negative alone so did 2 more over that morning. Statistically wildly meaningless but somehow it made sense. All negative. None reported following instructions in the box. If had been positive would have reported following instructions.

FflosFfantastig · 26/06/2021 07:30

Lots of employers are just sending them out whether you want them or not.
