Because no one wants to use them, what a waste of money.

I know lots of people who use them regularly, but only register every result with work/ school if they are asked/ required/ harassed to.

Lots of them did start registering results on the website but like others said found it more hassle than it’s worth so most have stopped.

We have a couple of boxes but only have used one. We did register that result but found it so much hassle that we both agreed that we understood why people didn’t want to do that twice and week, every week, for whoever knows how long.

enjoyingscience · 25/06/2021 11:47

Agree with everyone, we do the tests but I cba to log a negative.

I wouldn’t take the low reporting as necessarily a sign that the system isn’t working - almost everyone I know tests.

KateTheEighth · 25/06/2021 11:49

@MrsFrisbyMouse

It's pretty simple. They handed them out like sweets to kids (mine kept coming home with loads of them).

They also made the registering of them a pain in the neck - making you input the same information every bloody time - so people just won't bother to register negative ones.

If you want people to use a system, you need to design that system to be as easy and as intuitive for them as possible.

I agree with this completely

The registering is a PITA particularly if you are doing 2 or more kids and yourself

Why can't they make it simpler - perhaps an account for each person/household and you just scan straight in without having to input the same details every time?

CooDeGrass · 25/06/2021 11:52

Exactly

A household/family account for registering would be a massive advantage.

Anawi · 25/06/2021 12:03

Agree I do the tests but never register the results as theyve always been negative and frankly I cant be bothered, it's annoying enough having to remember to do the tests. I would bother to register it if I got a positive result. Pretty much everyone I know using them is the same.

NearlyAlwaysInsane · 25/06/2021 12:11

A QR code or link the tests with the NHS app.

I do register my LFTs but only on Zoe. With several of us in the household the idea of doing the registering so many times per week potentially is a right royal PITA.

TankGirl97 · 25/06/2021 12:15

I'm didn't actually realise that you're supposed to register negative lft's. I can account for a couple dozen at my house at least!

Hallyup6 · 25/06/2021 12:16

Never had an lft test but I did order a pcr test for my three year old. Absolutely fucking pointless as there was zero way she'd cooperate.

So yeah, I've wasted NHS resources.

fortyfifty · 25/06/2021 12:27

My DD has taken 2 a week for the past few months and only registered a few of them recently when she was asked to so she could do some volunteering. They have made it problematic to register a negative. Anyone who understands barriers and facilitators should have understood that many would go unregistered under the system they created.

Whiskyinajar · 25/06/2021 12:30

I do them twice a week for DS but long ago stopped reporting the constant negative results.

I’d only bother if they were positive,

chipsandpeas · 25/06/2021 12:34

i got a batch of tests posted to me but never used them yet

Thekormachameleon · 25/06/2021 12:37

I don't bother logging my results.
I don't see the point tbh and I've got better things to do than let the government know I don't have covid

Northernsoullover · 25/06/2021 12:38

gmailconfusion2 · 25/06/2021 12:39

I've had a couple that i've done and then realised they don't have a qr code or ID number on them

LemonSwan · 25/06/2021 12:40

I dont log them if negative. Ridiculous amount of questions.

Ugzbugz · 25/06/2021 12:42

I dont log my Ds on nhs website, I was then wasnt prepared to carry on when hardly anyone else is and how many people didn't follow rules etc so not bothered anymore.

HeronLanyon · 25/06/2021 12:48

I’ve only very recently taken LFT.
the booklet o got with them says you have to register positive results only.
So I have 2 boxes. Three have been used and have been negative. Not registered. The rest not yet used.
If we are supposed to register negative tests they need to change the pamphlet ! Ffs !!

Baileysforchristmas · 25/06/2021 12:49

@Ugzbugz that’s how I feel, why would you keep doing something that will penalise your life and not improve it 🤷‍♀️ Everyone needs to test regularly or it’s unfair on the people that do. It’s not a workable system.

No they don’t. Registering a negative test takes seconds as long as you log in to your account. You don’t need to re-enter any details; just scan the test strip and click that it was negative.

I test daily for my job and have to record on both the Gov site and my work system. It literally takes seconds .

NautaOcts · 25/06/2021 12:52

Combination of them lying around not being used, and lots being used but negative results not logged

HeronLanyon · 25/06/2021 12:52

Just chaeckef again nothing in the whole pamphlet says report a negative result.

SunSeaSurfGin · 25/06/2021 12:52

Does anyone else find that there's not enough liquid in the little vial and nothing drips out so end up using 2 vials

Catawaul · 25/06/2021 12:54

I only put them on Zoe because I get a prompt to. I didn't realise at first that I was supposed to log it on NHS but even now I know, I forget.

Akire · 25/06/2021 12:55

I tried to register my tests but it kept saying bar code not read or if it give you a code to input saying not accepted. So I gave up.

SunSeaSurfGin · 25/06/2021 12:57

If anyone has lost needs a replacement leaflet I have 100s of those. Each time we get a box work gives us a nice glossy version and there's a paper version in the box. Saying the exact same thing

I also have several of the tube holders.
