Because no one wants to use them, what a waste of money.

We’ve got boxes and boxes of them that DD was bringing home from school.

DD has a disability that means she can’t do them, school knows this but continued to send home boxes of them every week.

DH and I do them but don’t register the negative tests - nothing in the pamphlet we got says we should and the app keeps crashing my phone so I’ve never looked at it properly

onthinice · 25/06/2021 13:04

I do two a week but don't register the results as they're Airways negative (would obviously log a positive). My daughter keeps receiving them all the time but rarely uses them (despite my reminding her). When she does do one we register the negative result with the school (if it was positive we'd log it too and then the school would have a call from PHE)

duckme · 25/06/2021 13:05

They're being used. Just not registered. I've used one on my son today. It was negative. But I'm not recording the result. I wouldn't if he was positive either. I'd obviously do the isolation and whatever. But until the government focus purely on deaths and not the number of positive cases, I'll not be registering any result. And I wish more people would resist the call to test every 5 seconds.

onthinice · 25/06/2021 13:05

Also we got a box that had everything but the solution pipettes in it, so had to bin the lot as that's kind of a crucial component!

Saucery · 25/06/2021 13:10

I’m using them but not registering Negative results (have had no Positive ones). The system kept crashing, you need the same info every time and it takes ages. Then you get an email and a text message telling you exactly what you’ve just spent 15 minutes inputting everything to tell them!

BatshitCrazyWoman · 25/06/2021 13:11

I have to log my negative result to visit my adult son who lives in supported living - I show them the text I get.

EvilPea · 25/06/2021 13:13

Yes we’ve had a few duff boxes as well. Not enough liquid, missing bits, faulty droppers.

I’d register those, that is a waste of nhs resources

PurpleyBlue · 25/06/2021 13:15

I think they could do without giving you the whole kit each time. I don't need a leaflet every time.

Also I don't want to have to keep confirming details everytime. It used to remember what school it was linked to but now it asks everytime.

PurpleyBlue · 25/06/2021 13:17

Santastealer mine used to remember everything but now I have to confirm the school everytime

megletthesecond · 25/06/2021 13:18

I always register our negative results.

MaloInAnAppleTree · 25/06/2021 13:35

Instructions clearly say “report your result”, not “report result only if positive”. But it could definitely be stated more clearly “report the result even if it is negative”.

Having just done it for my household I agree it could and should be made quicker and easier. Even a button saying “report another member of the same household” to save you retyping the address would help. And scanning straight from the NHS Covid app would seem like a no brained.

Positivity rate (ie number of positive tests/total tests taken) is a really useful piece of statistical data that enables us to keep track of the progress of an epidemic without being skewed by the effect of surge testing. If LFTs are going to be part of the country’s future plans then encouraging all results to be recorded and making that as seamless as possible would make them much more useful.

I report negative results apart from once when the website crashed and when I remembered to report it was too late

Bigassbeebuzzbuzz · 25/06/2021 13:38

I didnt know we were supposed to record anything with them.
If they are positive I would but negative no. What's the point?

candycane222 · 25/06/2021 13:44

Im afraid I'm another tester-but-not-logger. I kind of thought "surely they don't mean negative tests as well" And after the faff involvied in registering pcr tests earlier in the pandemic I decided not to bother enquiring...

candycane222 · 25/06/2021 13:46

But if they make it definitely quick and easy, I promise I'll do better in future as I do kind of see appletree's point

Akire · 25/06/2021 13:54

How are you supposed to do it? I scanned the pixel thing with camera. After many error message I may have got a 6 digit code. I went into covid NhS app. Clicked logged result. Every single time says invalid.

Mine is still remembering everything. I recorded this morning and had no issues. I just log in and then scan the test strip.
trappedsincesundaymorn · 25/06/2021 14:06

Genuine question...How can you prove a LFT is negative if you don't have a smart phone? I know it can be done on-line but carrying my pc around with me if I need to go anywhere that require proof of a negative result, can be a bit of a faff.

If you get a positive result on LfD your child’s entire class will be made to isolate for 10 days. You will be asked to take a PCR test to confirm the result and if this comes back as negative they can release all those students from isolation.

I know of at least 4 cases now where the LFT was positive, whole classes sent to isolate, but then allowed back 2/3 days later when a PCR comes back negative.

No-one can prove a lateral flow is negative unless you are supervised doing it. When recording on the Gov site you just input positive or negative as you read the test yourself so anyone could easily record a negative result without actual taking a test!
OldScrappyAndHungry · 25/06/2021 14:14

Another one that does the tests but doesn’t always get around to logging it. I always log with Zoe though - it’s soooo easy on that app!

UnbeatenMum · 25/06/2021 14:16

The website for logging them is badly designed and takes too long. Plus we also have to log the result with the school, so I've just been doing that.

PurpleyBlue · 25/06/2021 14:16

Santastealer I'm going to see if there's somewhere I can update it. It remembers everything but the school so its a bit of a pain atm.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 25/06/2021 14:21

Santastealer
