I haven’t yet had my second vaccine. I’m too frightened.
I don’t mean “a bit” I mean that I am literally not capable of going to get the vaccine through fear.

My anxiety is so severe I have now been referred to secondary mental health care.

Everyone at work has had one of two vaccines and a few people have had two.

I’m under 40 and really want an alternative to AZ but can’t get one.
I had the vaccine early due to BMI (which I have now reduced)

I’ve lied to my colleagues and several friends to tell them I am fully vaccinated.
I just know if I tell them I’m too scared to get my second dose they will not understand.

How am I going to get around this?
What happens when I can’t do certain things because I’m not fully vaccinated? What happens if my employer asks for proof of vaccination?

I’m in such a mess.

Well done for going along @Louby08, I hope you have a more peaceful week. Use the charity numbers, they will give you good support while you wait for the referral.

glad you logged out op, you are giving it too much thought.

I am 29 and had my first AZ in Feb just as the blood clot statistics were coming out. I was petrified for weeks, way longer than 4 weeks. I made myself go and get my second one in May and again I was petrified, but each week that passes, my fear of a blood clot goes down. Only now I'm worried about being the police turning up at my door and arresting me for breaking Covid rules 😳🤷🏻‍♀️ even though I haven't broke any rules. Or social services coming and taking my DC away because he goes to school in a polo top that's got a paint stain on 😩

And it's not just mild anxiety, every night I went to bed thinking I wasn't going to wake up after the vaccine. Ever car that pulls up I think is someone to seperate me from my DC.

Its just anxiety and your fixating on the blood clot/Covid issue. You won't feel better until you try and deal with the anxiety, you will just fixate on something else.

I called my doctor last week and haven't been prescribed anything because this only started in February really, it's just a build up I think of stress and worrying about the risk of leaving my DC.

I am feeling better though just from mindfulness, keeping busy and shutting down the voice in my head, it's hard though I totally understand how you feel.

Sorry to hear you are still struggling @AliceInCovidland. It's good that you've contacted the doctor and started considering extra help. If the tactics you have aren't enough, it's worth contacting one of the helplines who specialise in helping those with anxiety because they may be able to signpost you to other resources.
There's a good summary here of people who may be able to help: www.mind.org.uk/information-support/types-of-mental-health-problems/anxiety-and-panic-attacks/useful-contacts/.

Thank you @MRex I have been thinking about maybe getting some type of talking therapy.

I've started high dose vitamin D again which the GP recommended, and spending as much time as possible outdoors and it does seem to be helping so I will leave it a few weeks and see how I go Smile

MRex · 21/06/2021 15:11

Good luck!

MRex · 15/07/2021 17:00

I was just thinking about you @AliceInCovidland, how are you feeling now? Have you had any help the last few weeks?

AliceInCovidland · 15/07/2021 17:12

Oh bless you @MRex, I haven't had any help really but I am feeling so much better. I think it's just the combination of keeping busy and making plans to look forward to that has helped the most!

Still keeping up with the vitamin D and we've always spent a lot it time outdoors anyway!

Hope you are okay too!

MRex · 15/07/2021 17:17

That's great to hear, I hope things keep improving for you. If you feel up to it then accessing help at a time when you're feeling brighter can be a really good thing to do, because you might be better able to think through options of what would help. Take care of yourself x

SilverOak · 15/07/2021 17:21

My friend is currently in hospital with a blood clot. She hasn’t been vaccinated - the clot is caused by Covid. In fact the risk of clots from Covid is higher than the risk of clots from the vaccine.

AliceInCovidland · 15/07/2021 17:35

@MRex I will keep that in mind, thank you!

I think it probably would be a good idea as I know it's so easy to slip back into the anxious thoughts. I'm taking control of my diet as I need to loose weight and have been hitting my 10,000 steps a day, they're much better things to focus on.

Thank you so much, you take care of yourself too and enjoy the summer Smile

Just don't have the second vaccine, no one is making you. I chose not to have any vaccines and I'm 70 next year. I wrote to my GP surgery to tell them to stop hassling me as I have no intention of having a vaccination which is in its clinical trial stage and everyone who has it is the guinea pig. In fact, everyone I know who has had covid, has been doubled vaxed!

bg21 · 15/07/2021 17:50

anxiety sucks yes but this whole health anxiety stuff everyone seems to suddenly have now about the vaccines is getting silly now , surely you've had all your other vaccines yes? and you managed perfectly fine then ? if rhe answer is yes then just go and get it done , if you don't want it stop wasting resources by booking appts you have no intention of going to

So double vaccines cause covid? Sure.

Everyone I know who has had CV hasn't had both vaccines.
