Ohhhhh I do hope so. I so want to see my mum.

MarshaBradyo · 17/06/2021 10:16

Talking about posters who post dodgy maths and who would have leapt on the 7000 figure

This morning I heard in R4 the May lifting was predicted / modelled to result in 7000 in hospital now. We’re at 1000

Great! I wonder what happens with dc

Cafeaulait27 · 17/06/2021 11:00

@MarshaBradyo wow. That’s great. And I guess that’s even before they knew how transmissible the delta variant was.

Really hope we can reopen fully in July, and ditch masks in most settings 🤞

Cafeaulait27 · 17/06/2021 11:00

It’s so lovely to come on this thread, so much doom and gloom on all the others!

worriedmother1 · 17/06/2021 11:21

OMG stumbled across an Instagram account that a family member shared and it's such a conspiracy theorist account!

Made the mistake of reading through the posts - agh!!!!!!!

Camping out here again now

BlueBlancmange · 17/06/2021 13:47

Promising sounding research into improved vaccines that would be better able to fight variants.

Theres an empty shop at our local parade thats opened as a temp vaccination centre this week. Drove past earlier and there were about 100 people queuing patiently in the drizzle for theirs. Must be going soft in my old age as it made me a bit emotional to see it although if you knew how rough my area is it mightmake more sense that I felt that way. 🤣

fadingfast · 17/06/2021 13:50

Just seen it reported that bookings open to 18+ from tomorrow!

MancyNitford · 17/06/2021 17:10

DS managed to get his first jab booked in his uni town in the end. Initially it was only offering him places 50 miles away. His 2nd, when he is home, could only be booked in our nearest city about 40 miles away.

We are literally 2 mins away from one of two big vaccine hubs in our county so I was surprised he couldn't get an appointment there. Anyway I told him just to book it, have the first and then hopefully he can cancel the 2nd and get one nearer home. Just so glad both DC are now booked into be jabbed.

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 17/06/2021 19:45

*I agree with Hamil the next four weeks are the slightly trickier part but after that we will have high enough vaccination

With no vaccine evading variants things will switch markedly*

@MarshaBradyo do you think it’s just a case of us holding our nerve for a few more weeks then?

I’m glad the government have started saying things like ‘this is something we need to learn to with’. We just can’t let our lives be disrupted like this any more.

Thanks. Looks like we could start to overtake Warwick S3 if the climb accelerates
TheChineseChicken · 18/06/2021 11:09

After being a bit gloomy last week, Tim Spector is much more upbeat this week

Cafeaulait27 · 18/06/2021 12:07

@TheChineseChicken agreed! Here’s his latest video -very reassuring!

I knowing am being a little petty but GOOD!

EU loses legal case against AstraZeneca over vaccine supplies

The European Union has lost its legal fight against AstraZeneca over claims it failed to deliver on its vaccine commitments for the bloc, the pharmaceutical firm has said.

EU officials took AstraZeneca to court after it underdelivered on its promise to produce 300 million COVID vaccine doses for member states by the end of June.

They only managed to produce 100 million doses due to production constraints.

The cut in supplies delayed the EU's vaccination drive in the first part of this year, when the bloc was relying on AstraZeneca to deliver the largest volume of jabs.

It led to a bitter dispute and EU legal action to get at least 120 million doses by the end of June.

But the judge today ruled that the company should only have to deliver 80.2 million doses by 27 September, AstraZeneca said.

TruelyonelastSchlep · 18/06/2021 14:08

Plus apparently the judge is saying if anything they supplied more than they needed too🤦‍♀️

I’m not sure those who argued so vehemently on behalf of EC will return to comment on it - there were a few
