Oh, that is superb. Somebody very good is in charge of this roll out and is giving all the people below them flexibility to act on good ideas. Somebody has clearly said ‘what’s the easiest way for young people to book? What platforms are they used to using? What kind of framing is going to make them most likely to book?’ and decided to present it like a significant event and put it on Eventbrite.
I wouldn’t dream of suggesting that young people in general aren’t capable of navigating the NHS website or need gimmicks to make them take up the offer, but making frictionless and seemingly unmissable will make even more come. I hope there is good craic in the queue!

TheChineseChicken · 16/06/2021 11:28

Love that!

Wherediditgo · 16/06/2021 11:40

Haven’t been on here for a while but desperately need to be!

My own good news is that my side effects from my jab (Pfizer - had on Saturday PM) appear to have now dissipated Smile

hugoagogo · 16/06/2021 12:06

ds who is 22 has been offered his jab!Grin

Well done Teen’s dd and congratulations Hugo’s ds!

Bordois · 16/06/2021 16:19

Rolling 7 day rate of increase down again - 31.8% compared to 38.8% yesterday. Was 66% last Wednesday!

Cafeaulait27 · 16/06/2021 16:33

That’s good @Bordois

And only 9 deaths, I’m sure we would be seeing an increase in deaths by now surely? It’s been over a month since the delta variant kicked off I think. Xx

Bordois · 16/06/2021 16:36

It was just before the 17th May relaxation - around Eid IIRC as there were concerns over indoor mixing?

Mindymomo · 16/06/2021 17:16

Thanks for the good news thread.
DS 29 and DS 25 now had their first Pfizer vaccines.
Both DH and I have had both despite the online calculator saying I wouldn’t get my first till late June,

Autumn101 · 16/06/2021 18:19

Just managed to change my 2nd jab appointment to 3 weeks earlier! Hadn’t so far as I had Moderna so was worried about if there’d be any but loads of appointment options came up

Cafeaulait27 · 16/06/2021 18:30

@Autumn101 I did that too last night! Also had moderna and last time I tried there was nothing, but this time there’s one 3 weeks earlier. I’m pleased as I’m pregnant and this means I’ll be fully jabbed going into third trimester xx

Autumn101 · 16/06/2021 18:33

Great news Cafe 👍👍

MancyNitford · 16/06/2021 19:12

DS (21) has been trying all day to book his jab with no luck. He's in Brighton and the nearest he can get so far is about 50 miles away. I've told him to try later when the initial rush has died down and hopefully he'll get something close by then.

Fleek · 16/06/2021 19:32

I screenshotted one of the most active negative posters on this board on 4th June, it's on my phone which I can't be bothered to go get now. She was adamant by 21st June we would be seeing 100,000 cases a day every day. I saw her repeat that several times on the board.

Not that I think current numbers are brilliant but the virus is going to have to work an awful lot harder to hit 100,000 a day more by 5 days time. I know some people have started pushing it to 'we'll hit that in mid-July' but I'm still not getting the sense that's very realistic. Absolutely great to see the growth slow down and the deaths stay so low. I've had such a bad month with managing my feelings around the Delta variant, any bit of good news helps.

Bordois · 16/06/2021 19:41

I know the post and poster you mean. I have absolutely no doubt that they will have something prepared proving they are actually right. "Oh, when I said 100k cases a day, I didn't mean just positive cases I meant people who have it but not tested yet"

NormaSnorks · 16/06/2021 19:46

Over two weeks since my 2nd jab and I'm feeling fabulous :-)

My two adult children, aged 18 & 21, both had Pfizer jabs on Saturday, and are both feeling fine now after a couple of days of grogginess/headache.

100k cases a day and 20k hospitalisations !!
Autumn101 · 16/06/2021 20:25

Mancy - I’m Brighton too and when I went to change my jab a couple of hours ago there were lots of appointments for Brighton Centre from end of June onwards so hopefully some will show for him soon 🤞

WaverleyPirate · 16/06/2021 20:26

Vaccines = positive news
Virus = seems to be heading in wrong direction.

None of us really knows which way it will go. I really hope people keep up mitigation measures.

TruelyonelastSchlep · 16/06/2021 20:49

I don't know there are a few nasty witches hanging about the covid board. Maybe one of them has a crystal ball

Wrong picture 😂

But we haven't had a cute animal on this thread yet. So there you go

Autumn101 · 16/06/2021 20:58

Cute kitten!!

Here’s my happy fluffy picture - my Middle Eastern cat who has been most displeased with British weather since she arrived in November finally enjoying some sunshine on a comfy bed

Unbelievable

There’s a couple of posters that are like this constantly
