Thanks both. And if you happen to actually get ill and test positive while away. Obviously you can stay longer than your holiday is booked for (Airbnb) so I guess in those circumstances a 2hr drive home would be ok?

I'm trying to think positively about going away, but honestly at the moment I'm fully expecting something to go wrong 🙈

Mindymomo · 02/08/2021 08:54

@twinmum86. We went away last month, a week in a holiday home. I took extra medication to cover us, just in case. The house was booked the week after, so I don’t know what would happen if you were to test positive, not be well enough to travel home, would they cancel the next guests.

twinmum86 · 02/08/2021 18:37

I suppose they'd have to. But then what if you also couldn't afford to pay for the house for an extra week/few days Confused

PomRuns · 02/08/2021 19:12

21,952 cases today.

Visited NT place, was busy which felt odd…but good to see lots of hand sanitiser, SD and masks, really lovely to see DC enjoying activities again and playing with other children.

TheChineseChicken · 03/08/2021 21:07

Does anyone happen to know how PCR tests get from a test site to a lab? If they’re collected or delivered how often per day does this happen? Would an afternoon test go to be processed at the same time as a morning test?

TheChineseChicken · 03/08/2021 21:08

(Can you tell I am impatiently waiting on test results?!)

BessMarvin · 04/08/2021 07:10

Several weeks ago I had one done quite early maybe half 9 and they said the box hadn't been collected yet so hopefully I would get the result within 24 hours. So it sounds like there is more than one collection potentially.

(Of course, despite getting my hopes up, it took around 36 hours.)

Hope you get it soon

BessMarvin · 04/08/2021 07:10

Oh and that it's negative!

TheChineseChicken · 04/08/2021 07:13

Well, it came back at 6.30am (negative!). Which is interesting as all our other tests have been done in the morning at about 8 and have taken around 24 hours to come back. But this one was done at 4.30pm and took 14 hours.

vaccines to be offered to 16 & 17 year olds...(possibly with parental consent)

Autumn101 · 05/08/2021 12:40

How’s everyone doing on here? Have any travels taken place yet?! I know there was a few on here desperate to get to see family x

Feeling relieved here as DHs country has been moved to amber from red which makes our lives a whole lot easier, and cheaper!

EasterIssland · 05/08/2021 13:36

Hi. On my way to airport to fly back from visiting family. It’s been so nice to be able to hug my nephew. Tho hated wearing a face mask most of the time.

amicissimma · 06/08/2021 22:44

Some good news from the Covid-19 Clinical Information Network.

In January few than half of patients had been discharged after 10 days. Now, half are discharged by day 4 and only one in 5 still need hospital care by day 10.

PomRuns · 07/08/2021 10:27

That’s really good info - thanks for posting.

I noticed less people wearing masks when I was shopping on Thursday. Was a bit disappointing to see - understand people have had enough.

Tonight’s on holidays next year ?? I’m slightly obsessed having had 5 cancelled now.

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 07/08/2021 21:37

What do we think is going on with the case numbers?

herecomesthsun · 07/08/2021 21:41

@SaveWaterDrinkGin

What do we think is going on with the case numbers?
F* knows but long may it continue (to be very different to what everyone thought or feared)
SaveWaterDrinkGin · 07/08/2021 21:44

Also, really interesting and positive article here: amp.theguardian.com/world/2021/aug/07/prof-francois-balloux-the-pandemic-has-created-a-market-for-gloom-and-doom?__twitter_impression=true

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 07/08/2021 21:45

@herecomesthsun they’re rising again. That’s what I meant. Do we think it’s a blip?
