I tend to only go on this thread now and not look at any others. I’m not interested in doom mongering ! It was making me feel quite low

PomRuns · 26/07/2021 17:59

24,950 cases today - 6th consecutive day of falling numbers.

Autumn101 · 26/07/2021 18:13

Numbers are looking great this last week aren’t they?? I have everything crossed this downward trend continues……..

lomaamina · 26/07/2021 18:21

This thread is such a tonic. I wonder if any of you clever people know of data which looks at excess deaths for 2021? From the graphs I’ve seen it looks as though we’re back in the normal 5 year range. Is that right?

MRex · 26/07/2021 18:27

Sorry, meant to say ONS is for the UK only, obviously.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 26/07/2021 18:47

It’s so nice to see numbers falling again, especially so sharply. Fingers crossed it continues.

lomaamina · 26/07/2021 19:00

Thanks @MRex!

Professor Ferguson has just said on the Today programme that he is expecting that by late September we will have put the bulk of the pandemic behind us and be looking back at it .

olivethegreat · 27/07/2021 08:37

Considering a lot of us were beginning to feel like this would never end, that was rather amazing to hear !! He's not known for his positivity either .

twinmum86 · 27/07/2021 12:20

OMG that's just what I needed to hear Smile

RainbowCrayons · 27/07/2021 12:49

Hi all, I have posted here before, but name changed.

Does anyone have any stats on the rates of Covid infection from clubs? Are there any stats yet?

herecomesthsun · 01/08/2021 16:57

85 million vaccine doses administered!

twinmum86 · 01/08/2021 20:10

Hello knowledgeable people. Does anyone know what happens if you are on holiday and fall ill with Covid or are contacted by test and trace? In terms of if you're only
going for a week you obviously can't isolate for 10 days, so do you travel home immediately?

twinmum86 · 01/08/2021 20:11

A UK holiday I add!

Mindymomo · 01/08/2021 20:34

@twinmum86. Advice is to return home in case you develop symptoms and may not be able to travel if unwell.

Depends how long you have to isolate for. If someone has tested a bit late, you may not be isolating for the full 10 days. Ideally drive home if you have your own car, stay if it's a property you can stay in... just sensibly try and have the least interaction possible with anyone. Inform the property owner or anyone else using the property so they can be more careful about airing it and wiping down touch-points.

Good news @NannyAndJohn predicted 100k by today in one of her multiple predictions and we’re quite far from it !
Happy that we’re in the positive road rather than the pessimistic one!
