Moving Moderna 2nd Jabs Sooner

I have read that over 40s are encouraged to move their 2nd jabs sooner. Has anyone successfully cancelled and rebooked for sooner? My partner is wary of cancelling and ending up with a longer interval. Thanks!

DH has moved his Moderna jab forward three weeks tonight. There was lots of availability and new venue options. He tried last week and was only able to move it forward three days.

Sorry if this has already been asked, I'm under 40 with Moderna, has anybody been successful with this?

Doodle4 · 14/06/2021 22:35

Just an update—I was able to move both my partner (40+) and my (under 40) appointments to roughly 3 weeks earlier than previously booked and there were lots of options for days & more Moderna venues than first jab booking. Thanks for all the comments!

also anyone have any luck with Wimbledon AFC? Not sure how brave I am feeling!

Schulte · 14/06/2021 22:49

Same - I’m really scared I will end up without!

User13243543 · 14/06/2021 22:50

ok I finally plucked up courage and got it moved to the same venue, 2 and a half weeks earlier, feeling pretty chuffed!

brokenhairband · 14/06/2021 22:54

Thanks for this thread. Have been trying regularly (late at night so I can always book the original slot again) but hasn’t worked - even tried yesterday! Just tried now and managed to move it 3 and a bit weeks earlier. Now exactly 8 weeks after the first.

Redcrayons · 14/06/2021 23:01

49 and the only availability is 2 days before my appointment.

brokenhairband · 14/06/2021 23:04

I’m 43 and there were two new venues nearer that didn’t have any closer availability but the large vaccination centre did (madejski, reading). They had lots in the three weeks before my original date.

Schulte · 14/06/2021 23:05

I’ve done it! Moved forward to this Saturday and within walking distance from my house. Amazing!

Justajot · 14/06/2021 23:06

We moved ours to 2 weeks earlier. It offered lots of venues, but we only looked at the one we'd had our first at. Maybe we would have got even sooner at an alternative venue.

QueenofStella · 14/06/2021 23:13

Awesome work you lot! Just managed to pull me and DH (38 and 39) forward 3 weeks so now an 8 week gap instead of the original 11.

Seems to be plenty of appointments for NHS Nightingale Sunderland

Well, given the success stories of bringing appointments forward, I have just tried to cancel and rebook mine, and the earliest it offered me was my old appointment back. Next available one after that was a week later. So I booked my old one back before it disappeared! Bit disappointed really, as I travel for work and have spent much of the last year under room confinement, and this means I will be kept locked in my room for my trips in July too. The vaccination means very real freedom for me - eating lukewarm meals delivered to your room in a paper bag and not being able to go for a walk gets wearing after a while.

My appointment was at the Madjeski Stadium.

Sloelydoesit · 15/06/2021 01:17

I just moved mine from 13th July to 1st July. Super pleased!

I'd ring the help line and query that, or your Gp.

Slayduggee · 15/06/2021 07:04

I’ve just managed to move my Moderna jab three weeks closer. I’m well pleased.

Slayduggee · 15/06/2021 07:05

Managed to move it from 26th July to 3rd July

countdowntonap · 15/06/2021 07:06

Just moved mine from 31st to 10th - similarly to lots of others, that’s three weeks.

Do you mind if I ask when your appt is booked for at Madjeski plz ? Mine is 22nd July & OH 16th July. I've been toying with trying to get earlier appts but so worried they'll be nothing or I'll end up waiting even longer !! Thanks.
Sunny360 · 15/06/2021 07:31

I’m 38 and had tried to move my Pfizer jab forward a couple of weeks ago with no success. I braved cancelling as if you’re booked for 11/12 weeks anyway then they cant offer you later than that. I just tried again last night and managed to move it forward 3 weeks to a different venue. Check all the venues!

Moved my husband in his 40s forward last night too (he hadn't been bothered to change it before) and it was offering me today for his 2nd Astra Zeneca but due to his weekend plans he has picked a day next week. He was originally booked for 4th July.

Doodle4 · 15/06/2021 07:51

So glad we’ve all had so much success! I suppose a silver lining to the delay in ending restrictions, is that so much more of us will have our 2nd jabs on board (which I’m sure is probably the point of the delay anyway...)before everything opens back up fully. Here’s hoping we’re staring at the light at the end of this tunnel!

I was able to bring my Madejski Stadium appointment forward from 21 July to 5 July when I tried yesterday.

Emsmaman · 15/06/2021 10:39

I'm late thirties, just managed to bring my afc wimbledon appointment earlier by 3 weeks thanks to reading this thread!

SmallestInTheClass · 15/06/2021 11:21

Thanks mumsnetters! Just rebooked my moderna from 5th July to 22nd June. There were lots of slots in my area (North West) earlier than my original appointment.

bordersarebest · 15/06/2021 11:54

I've just rebooked mine for a week earlier at Madjeski 😊
