Moving Moderna 2nd Jabs Sooner

I have read that over 40s are encouraged to move their 2nd jabs sooner. Has anyone successfully cancelled and rebooked for sooner? My partner is wary of cancelling and ending up with a longer interval. Thanks!

The system has definitely now opened up to allow earlier second bookings - I tried a couple of days ago and it was impossible but have now secured a second jabs 2 weeks earlier (Moderna). Am in my 40s.

Success! I've been trying for about a week now to move my 2nd Moderna jab forward and I only managed to move it forward by 4 days. But I just tried again around 6.45pm, so after the announcement and I was able to get a 2nd slot for 26th June. My original location was Madejski stadium and a different option at a pharmacy a little closer came up so I went with that. I'm sorry I didn't even check what the availablity was at Madejski as I was so giddy with excitement to find I could pull it forward!

Hoppyfrog · 14/06/2021 19:56

Brilliant - didn't work this morning but it did this evening! Thank you :)

I got brave with all these stories of success (and a glass of wine!) and have moved mine! Only forward by a week but that puts me at 10.5 weeks rather than 11.5 and am going at the same time as my husband so am very happy! That's at Malvern showground and there was loads of availability.

theneverendinglaundry · 14/06/2021 20:06

I'm 41, just managed to move my 2nd dose of Moderna from 16th July to 30th June.

miafeta · 14/06/2021 20:07

Thanks very much for sharing- I was also able to move mine by 3 weeks at the BDC

LifesTooShortYOLO · 14/06/2021 20:32

I had Pfizer has anyone had any luck with this?

Forgottenyeti · 14/06/2021 20:36

Thanks to everyone in this thread, I've managed to move it 3 weeks earlier. 🥳

beggsie · 14/06/2021 20:48

Brilliant news, Forgottenyeti!

WarriorN · 14/06/2021 20:55

Brilliant news!

aibusux2u · 14/06/2021 21:04

Age 45. Just moved mine 3 weeks earlier than it was. Same venue. This is after trying and getting no earlier options for the past couple of weeks.

WarriorN · 14/06/2021 21:08

Well, Dh just tried (based on me reading this thread!) and could get exactly 4 weeks earlier. After absolutely zilch a couple of days ago. He's delighted!

RunAwayNow · 14/06/2021 21:10

Thanks to this thread I've just managed to move mine 2 weeks earlier.

HipHopBanzai · 14/06/2021 21:15

Just moved mine 4 weeks earlier!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 14/06/2021 21:16

I need to cancel my 2nd jab as it falls on my holiday. I think I'll do it now - it may allow me a sooner appt.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 14/06/2021 21:19

Done - was able to rebook for 3 weeks earlier than previous appt.

beggsie · 14/06/2021 21:24

This is all great news! Happy for all who have been able to move it.

notveryrelaxed · 14/06/2021 21:25

I changed my second moderna jab from 29th to 8th July this evening!

Italiandreams · 14/06/2021 21:25

I’m under 40 ( just) but pregnant in my third trimester so ideally would like to move my moderna vaccine forward but not don’t want to end up without one. I know I’m not over 40 so not in the right group but still feel pretty vulnerable.

Chewbecca · 14/06/2021 21:27

Do you have to cancel original appointment to find out if alternatives are available?

SecretKeeper1 · 14/06/2021 21:27

This is brilliant. Having posted earlier that Moderna/ Pfizer friends had been unable to move theirs, they’ve all managed to do it this evening. Hooray! Really pleased for everyone.

TokyoSushi · 14/06/2021 21:27

Mine is AZ but I've just moved it from 19th - 4th July, loads of appointments available!

SquareTo · 14/06/2021 21:28

DH and I have both moved our appointments forwards by 3 weeks this evening. One Moderna and one Pfizer. Loads of times/dates available for both of us.

beggsie · 14/06/2021 21:29

@Chewbecca

Do you have to cancel original appointment to find out if alternatives are available?
I think it has changed for over 40's. Happy to be corrected but when I looked before tonight, it asked if you wanted to cancel your booking. Tonight, it said do you want to cancel and rebook. Is that what others saw?
BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 14/06/2021 21:33

I'm under 40 and mine gave me the option "cancel and rebook". It processes the cancellation first before you can see if there are any alternatives.

If you then only get a place/date which is unsuitable, book it, then go through the process again another day.

Luckily I kept my venue, but was able to move it sooner
