Lingering fatigue following Pfizer vaccine - anyone else?

I had the Pfizer vaccine nearly 4 weeks ago and am still not right. I had a few days of being shivery and noticeably very tired. I now feel fine sitting down, working, etc, but every time I try to do something active, even a short walk, I am finding that I feel physically very tired, very quickly - like my legs won't work properly and I am wading through mud. I am also struggling at my usual pilates and yoga classes - very low energy. It occurred to me that this could be related to my vaccine - has anyone else experienced this? I am normally in good health, but am hyper mobile which can cause fatigue if I overdo it - I am definitely not overdoing it though!

I was immensely fatigued for about 7-10 days. Also had chills (2-3 days), nausea and loss of appetite (5-7 days). Probably coincidental but I began to feel less tired after indulging in a long lie in (3-4 h extra sleep) although that said I have had to have the occasional nap to make it through the day (50 % of the time now that I think about it). I have tried to make more sleep a priority but yes, a bit lacking in va va voom still.

mamakoukla · 10/06/2021 12:24

Also hypermobile

Justilou1 · 10/06/2021 12:28

I had my first Pfizer jab yesterday. I have slightly enlarged nodes in my neck and my arm is sore. This means my immune system is responding to the medication. I imagine those of you that responded in a more dramatic fashion than me, if you were not immunized and you caught the virus, then you would probably get a really bad case.

I haven’t had a vaccine of any sort since primary school. I missed the vaccinations in secondary school and this worries me. I was always ill in school and had no energy. I’ve not lived my adult life like this and I feel like I’m back in my weak teenage body again 😩

NebbiaZanzare · 10/06/2021 12:34

I had my first AZ two weeks ago today. I feel exhausted, dizzy, with a weird headache... pretty much exactly how I felt in August when I got ill.

I'm going to give another week and then see if it's worth having a chat with my GP about being able to skip the next shot or not. I was ill from August to April, finally felt well and normal by May, now back to square 1 again. I can't face another round of this right before the new academic year if it looks like I tend to lug side effects around for ages.

Am not anti-vax. DH had the same vax as me the same day. He's fine and absolutely should go back for his next one. But for me.., less sure at the moment.

WhyDoIFeelAwful · 10/06/2021 12:36

Me. I'm completely incapacitated. Dizziness, nausea headaches etc etc. It's been 2 months.

SerenaT28 · 10/06/2021 12:57

Me. Thank god for this thread. Coming up 3 weeks and I feel the worst I've felt so far, today. I've been dizzy on and off for all this time, tired, nauseous. Today I feel really fluey and shaky. Family disbelieve it could be the Pfizer but it happened 1 day after and hasn't gone. I keep reading 'symptoms go after a few days', what on earth! I also very much believe in these vaccines, but I'm starting to not want my 2nd one. Would be great if everyone kept this updated, hopefully for reassurance it will go!

Those of you that are suffering with this, have you found anything helps ease it throughout the day? Are you still able to work? I’m trying vitamin c, d , drinking plenty of water etc to cover the basics but didn’t know if anyone had found anything else to help?

WhyDoIFeelAwful · 10/06/2021 13:15

Are a few of us hypermobile?

Northernsoullover · 10/06/2021 13:21

I had my second jab mid march and felt like I was wading through treacle for ages. I'm feeling pretty good now and can't remember exactly how long it lasted.

sociallydistained · 10/06/2021 13:53

Crazy to read so many of you are suffering the same as me and to the poster that said it’s been 2 months. This makes me so sad!

I am working but happened to have a week off week after the vaccine when these issues really ramped up and so am just back at work now I’ve had 3 fine days and now it’s back to this. I have an assignment due at the weekend and am working on my masters and I’m so worried if this continues. My brain just cannot! I tried to study today and there was no chance. I’m so worried and what if the second one does this and it’s around the time I’ll be working on my dissertation... on the other hand I feel maybe our second won’t be as bad?? So much unknown!

Percivalthebabyspider · 10/06/2021 14:07

2 weeks on I’m still tired and have joint pain, though it’s slowly getting better. I also had a very sore arm for two days, the headaches and some dizziness, but the joint pain’s by far the worst.

Percivalthebabyspider · 10/06/2021 14:08

And I am also hyper mobile. I’m sorry to everyone suffering.

NebbiaZanzare · 10/06/2021 15:03

I lie down between lessons. I go to bed as soon as I finish work. I come down the stairs on my bum for safety.

My vit D levels must be high. I've been sunbathing in the portico (sun trap) for a min of 1hour almost everyday since Feb when it got sunny. My normal look is Casper the Ghost and I'm actually golden brown for the first time in my life. So I don't think that is where my issue lies. I just think my body really makes a right meal out of fighting off this particular virus.

Doc put me on anti anxiety / anti depressant meds by late Autumn because I was so down and frightened cos the fatigue and dizzyness wasn't going away. They've been brilliant. I was very chipper before, during and a few hours after the jab. Then my immune system had a hissy fit. Since then been grumpy. But not depressed. Worried, but not anxious.

I know it will go away. It did last time, but ... I've had enough of living "at sea" and it felt so great when my energy levels finally came back. I miss feeling energised and being busy.

The Slug Life is not for me.

Rainydays55 · 10/06/2021 17:59

It’s so frustrating. I’m worried if it is caused by the vaccine it ll never get better?! I’m pro vaccines but it’s made me feel quite worried now.

NebbiaZanzare · 10/06/2021 18:44

I’m worried if it is caused by the vaccine it ll never get better?!

I did a fair bit of crying back in the Autumn cos I was at the point where I was worried sick I was just going to stay slug-like for life. I'm holding on to the thought that wild or vaccine provoked immune system, it should sort itself out at some point. Soonish. Please.

(Except when I get an ice pick headache session. Then I just wallow about convinced I'm going to die of a brain related crisis any minute now. I feel I'm allowed to have a less than positive moment when Thor appears to be whacking lightning bolts about inside my noggin.)

WhyDoIFeelAwful · 10/06/2021 18:51

I am also losing hope. It's 2 months now and I'm getting worse not better. I can barely walk from my bed to the bathroom.

Rainydays55 · 10/06/2021 19:06

Have you been to the doctor?

Lollypop701 · 10/06/2021 19:09

Did anyone else get an itchy rash? On my torso and thighs and driving me nuts

Cocolapew · 10/06/2021 19:29

I got a rash after the first and have came out in itchy lumps now after the second. I'm a catch.
Cantspeakpublic · 10/06/2021 19:36

Me too for 4 weeks, had blood tests which were fine and no one believed me about it being the vaccine but then woke one day to find the fog has lifted and I felt fine! Was like a flick of a switch!
I’m Nervous about my second too!
I had itchy skin and felt like sunburn on my face and achy leg and eye

WhyDoIFeelAwful · 10/06/2021 20:29

@Lollypop701

I was very itchy for a couple of weeks but no rash.
Vicliz24 · 10/06/2021 20:34

I had a really poorly episode three weeks after my first jab where I couldn't move from the sofa all weekend. I'm now three weeks post the second and I've been shattered every day since I had it . Just shattered. My running is suffering because I'm only able to plod along . I really thought it was just me.

Rainydays55 · 10/06/2021 20:40

After your first jab did you find the symptoms eased after three weeks? Hope you feel better soon after your second .

Chasingthesun1 · 10/06/2021 20:45

I had my Pfizer vaccine just over two weeks ago and I am exactly the same! I am exhausted, like others normally very active and have done half the exercise I am normally capable of. My brain is foggy also. Comforting to know I am not alone but also worrying how long it’s lasted for some of you.
