And are then contacted by track and trace, what do we have to do? ie do we need to self-isolate?

I have tried to google, but can't seem to find the answer.

@LouLou198

This is why we have been reluctant or go anywhere. I can't afford time off work and don't want dc to miss anymore school. Definitely won't be now after I have learnt on this thread that you could be traced from someone who came into the same place hours after you left. Absolute madness!!
Except that is completely incorrect, you can't be traced from someone who came into the same place hours after you left. Please read the info in About the app.
baffledcoconut · 11/06/2021 10:19

If you want to skip the checking in you’re much better having the app, turning off tracing and deleting the data than giving paper details.

If you’re that way inclined.

Me and DH went to the pub on Saturday (first time since March last year!) and they told us we didn't need to leave any details/check in as we were sitting outside. We had to go inside to use the toilet though. We thought this seemed odd?

Because when you go the toilet, or any walking around inside, you have to wear mask. You can only not wear a mask when seated at your table

I'm exempt (DH isn't) but I didn't need to give my details when I went inside.

RE false details. Police are doing spot checks here and asking for ID in pubs and restaurants. We were checked two weekends ago.

If you want to go out risk the isolation but don’t give false details and endanger others.

Unless you're likely to be asked for ID in account of your age, who carries ID to go to the pub? We don't have passports/driving licences anyway, and even if we did we wouldn't be taking them on an evening out. Nowhere in any of the guidelines has this been mentioned.

Just don't go to Bella Italia at Castleford. They won't let you go in until you show them the green tick that you have checked in on the app. They also won't let you in unless you give a separate phone number for everyone over 16 in your group. DS is 16 and is autistic, he doesn't have a phone but that's irrelevant to them. I ended up giving a fake number.
A craft beer place near me that me and DH used to love going to are doing this. Different numbers and you have to show them your phone. DH doesn't own a mobile so we can't go anymore. Even though we live together. It's utterly bonkers.

TheVampireswife "Different numbers and you have to show them your phone. "

Please could you explain more about this?

Ostara212 · 11/06/2021 11:23

TheVampiresWife sorry,
I didn't see the quoted bit, ignore me!

And the food sucks in there Grin. I'd honestly walk out of a place that asked for all that.

That's because you sat outside and if someone uses the toilet/walks around inside they would (if not exempt) have to wear a mask.

The reason you have to give details if sitting inside is because you are exposed (sitting without a mask) to a longer time period inside and possibly airborne coronavirus inside. The risk is much higher sitting inside

Our LA has just announced that it is going to do spot checks on businesses from next Monday to check that they are following the rules. We are currently a very low case rate area and would quite like it to stay that way. I know of one licenced premises near me that is most definitely not sticking to the rules - I hope they get a visit.

I agree though that aspects of test & trace are bonkers - although I have never given false details and have checked in if asked to do so. So far I've not had an alert. A friend, however, went out with a couple of friends last Saturday and got an alert to isolate for 6 days on Wednesday. None of the people he was with got an alert and he says he was 2m away from everyone else. He does live in a flat though so told him to check with the neighbours after reading on here that people had been told to isolate following NDNs testing positive.

DuckyMcDuck · 11/06/2021 16:42

Interesting to read that others are as unsure of how it all works.

Just to update, we've decided not to go to the pub; we're going to meet in the park with a bottle (or two) instead.

Have a lovely weekend all. Cheers! Wine

Enjoy OP. So much easier to do that as long as there's a loo!

Presumably not in the UK as we don't have to carry ID here.
