And are then contacted by track and trace, what do we have to do? ie do we need to self-isolate?

I have tried to google, but can't seem to find the answer.

Alternatively read the information within the app about how checking in works and find out that what you read on MN might not necessarily be gospel.

People are reporting how it works in reality, not what it's supposed to do.

Brokenrecord3006 · 10/06/2021 09:47

A lot of places aren't bothering to ask for details, or you can just give them a false number and you'll never get called. You don't have to scan your app. Just go out and enjoy yourself! Even if you do scan the app or give your details it's so unlikely that you'd get a call to isolate.

Jumpingintosummer · 10/06/2021 09:51

RE false details. Police are doing spot checks here and asking for ID in pubs and restaurants. We were checked two weekends ago.

If you want to go out risk the isolation but don’t give false details and endanger others.

valnevavaxx · 10/06/2021 09:57

I hope everyone on here deliberately not checking in/giving false info gets found out and fined.

All your arguments seem to centre around if you have to isolate as a result of someone else in the pub- what if YOU have covid and have unknowingly passed it on to others who won’t be contacted because you haven’t bothered checking in?

I realise everyone is sick of all this now but honestly is it any wonder it’s been going on as long as it has if people act like the smallest of sacrifices is an enormous inconvenience.

A lot of people don't carry ID unless a bank card counts, I wonder if they accept that.

A bank card has your own name on it. I’d be surprised if that wasn’t fine.

Don’t most have a driving license card?

osbertthesyrianhamster · 10/06/2021 09:59

Get a burner phone. Use that for details.

A lot of people don't have a license.

Just tell them you have no ID on you.

The whole thing's a joke.

Are people really that desperate to avoid leaving their details? This thread is so depressing.

Jumpingintosummer · 10/06/2021 10:01

Our table had three drivers licences and one golf membership... they were content with them all Grin

Yes.

I don,kt take my car or licence to the pub, I just walk down.

It gets complicated because my full name is a multi syllable foreign insanity so I use an abbreviation

No wonder people think going to the pub isn't worth it...it so isn't. What happened to popping out for one drink after work with a tenner in your pocket?

rhowton · 10/06/2021 10:04

Just pretend to check in...

I've just realised, thanks to this thread, that we've been to McDonald's twice recently and weren't asked to check in. I'm Confused.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 10/06/2021 10:17

@PurpleDaisies I don't take my bank card with me because I use contactless on my phone, and I don't drive.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 10/06/2021 10:19

I was appalled when I saw my DM give false details, given that she lives with my shielding DS1.

Just say you're getting a takeaway and then sit down with it.

Don’t T&T ask where you’ve been? I don’t think they just rely on venue checking in/details provided. So you can still tell them so others can be alerted where necessary.

Yes but if they’ve all given fake details, they can’t be contacted.

Anyone who does this ought to be sent to a quarantine hotel for two weeks at their own expense.

And if I knew anyone had done it I'd be going NC with them immediately.
