Why is hardly anyone talking about the total failure if track and trace?

I started a thread a few weeks ago saying how angry I was with the government for letting the delta variant in but I’m even more cross now it’s so wide spread in so many areas. With our ‘world beating’ test and trace should we not have been able to keep on top of cases and stop the wider spread? Where has the billions of pounds been spent?
Hardly anyone seems to be mentioning this on any media outlets. Why aren’t we holding this government to account for this?

Many have been shielding for most of the last year.

Obviously more important than T&T at this stage is prioritising vulnerable children for vaccination. But any extra measures that can help would also be good.

Moonme · 10/06/2021 22:21

@ChequerBoard not my job to do that...however if you paid me billions of pounds I’m sure I could come up with positive public health messaging and strategies that would work

@Tealightsandd

Many have been shielding for most of the last year.
Massive Majority been back at school since schools opened and shielding advice ended

And yet still - none succumbing despite no t&t and easing of face masks

My parcels have always arrived reliably under Track and Trace. Test and Trace is what you mean. (Yes, I know it's obvious/get a life/I'm such a pedant/blah blah blah....) It's actually important to get names right. TEST is the critical part of the process.

It's always easy to be wise after the event and at the time it offered another way to ultimately help to prevent transmission and reduce deaths.

Tealightsandd · 11/06/2021 20:40

@Sometimesfraught82

As you would see (if you read the article I linked) lots have remained unofficially shielded.

It's also not just about death. There's the risks of Long Covid (which can effect children). It's now looking like it can cause diabetes. Children are lower risk but low is not the same as no.

Other countries are vaccinating children. The UK might not have enough supply to do every child yet but we should at least be trying to prioritise vulnerable children.

Never got it to work, my phone is full of photographs of barcodes.

Ooh, ooh, make sure you stand for parliament, I’ll definitely vote for you!

copperpotsalot · 11/06/2021 21:16

Sure someone has already said it but I've never had an issue with tracking my mail!

Test and trace however, what a shit show

WuhanClanAintNothingToFuckWith · 11/06/2021 21:23

As for testing - we’ve spent a bollock load on shitty lateral flow tests that only pick up about 60% of cases.

You have to do repeat, regular testing (like in high schools). Due to the incubation period of the virus. That’s how they work. Or we could introduce anal swabs (like China).

NotBot · 11/06/2021 21:24

I admittedly don’t use the app. I did have it but I don’t want to isolate because I sat on a table near someone in a cafe..

I’ve not been asked to scan a QR code anywhere since we unlocked in April. I see them in cafes & softplays etc but no-one has ever told me to scan them. But you do give name/numbers everywhere you book so I guess same thing!

SonnetForSpring · 11/06/2021 21:29

People don't isolate. So track and trace is limited in its effect.

WuhanClanAintNothingToFuckWith · 11/06/2021 21:32

Friend works for T and T BIGGEST problem is people giving false details and wrong numbers who do we blame for that ?

Government 😂
