Less interested in “lying political weasel 1 says lying political weasel 2 is lying”

A brilliant phrase Grin As someone just said to me, "If a liar's lying, does that make it the truth"??

Good luck with any idea of a proper public enquiry though - not when the government (ie: us) wil; be paying for it and deciding who's on it

TeaandHobnobs · 26/05/2021 10:27

@Belindabelle agreed! I am glued...

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 26/05/2021 10:27

@Girlmama3

I don't understand the point. We all know they acted too late but it was over a year ago. Surely we need to move on and leave it in the past?
It’s very much in the present because the pandemic is still here and they keep making the same mistakes.
Belindabelle · 26/05/2021 10:28

Oh he has photographic evidence now!

Spring2021 · 26/05/2021 10:28

Exactly this he is an evil lying b* and my dad was one of the casualties of this cock up.

‘The hypocrisy is astounding. DC flouted the rules, took the piss out of the population, sat in that garden spouting utter crap to journalists with full government backing - while the rest of us were following rules, missing family/friends, losing livelihoods etc. And now he has the audacity to say that other people messed up! He must have an ego the size of a solar system’.

ZNation · 26/05/2021 10:29

Anyone know why Cummings has turned on Boris?
I thought Boris protected him when Barnard castle came out and he didn't fire him, so I'm curious why Cummings throwing Boris under the bus.

IntermittentParps · 26/05/2021 10:32

DC would be more credible if he hadn't broken the rules himself
Yes, I do find it rather rich that Mr Barnard Castle is now a moral mouthpiece Hmm

I don't understand the point. We all know they acted too late but it was over a year ago. Surely we need to move on and leave it in the past?
The government is again backtracking on and fudging guidance (in the areas of Bolton, Hounslow etc) because they're too scared of being attacked by local businesses and other politicians with an agenda to lay down clear guidelines or legislation. We could easily end up in the middle of another Covid surge.

Orf1abc · 26/05/2021 10:32

I can't stand Cummings. But he's a record keeper, he's already said he'll hand over the evidence he has (reports as well as texts, WhatsApp etc). I've no doubt he's doing this with hs own agenda, but if his assertions have texts etc to back them up, then that evidence needs to be looked at.

And he has apologised and admitted that his own actions fell far below those expected of a government official.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 26/05/2021 10:34

He’s a manipulative record keeper too. I’m fairly certain he’ll lie to protect himself and own up to just enough to make it look like he’s sorry but the records he have must be fascinating.

BeastfromtheNorthEast · 26/05/2021 10:35

@Girlmama3

I think they all know they were too slow. I don't think constantly dragging it up helps, it reminds the families of those who lost lives that it could have been avoided.
Well perhaps scrutiny of the events and decision making process could prevent more families from losing loved ones in the future? Perhaps those that lost loved ones would like some accountability from the people who made the decisions?

Have they learnt the lesson about acting too slowly clearly not as they dragged their heels over Indian quarantine?

Really @Girlmama3 you think sweeping it under the carpet is for the best?!

Johnson and Cummings are both neck deep in shite of their own making.

KaptainKaveman · 26/05/2021 10:35

The enemy of my enemy is also my enemy.

Lying lazy corrupt bastards. Don't forget this.

Mygardenisanightmare · 26/05/2021 10:35

If we were a nation of goldfish, run by goldfish, then you might have a point.

He didn't like then being sacked in November after Princess Nut Nuts, chief beneficiary of £££ wallpaper and organic takeaways, won?
Belindabelle · 26/05/2021 10:40

Yes this enquiry will take months. All the major players will be heard at some point.

Myalternate · 26/05/2021 10:45

It astounds me that a person with zero credibility for the truth, has anyone hanging on their every word as if it's gospel. He has a bone to pick at the establishment that sacked him. Providing text messages/reports/graphs, does not equal evidence. It only provides a snap shot of how things were being planned and the organisation needed to control something that nobody had a clue about.

His apology over his own behaviour was made last year but are we now to believe that this second apology holds more weight?

pinkearedcow · 26/05/2021 10:49

One minute he's all mea culpa as though he was in charge, the next it's all I'm not that smart I was in over my head.

He is a slimy, lying, arse of a man who thinks us plebs are thick and can't see through him. He tries present as a cool, edgy, anti-establishement figure when he is the establishment.

BeastfromtheNorthEast · 26/05/2021 10:49

@Lalalablahblahblah I agree. Hunt would have been more cautious / sensible in leadership through this than Johnson who was much too busy writing books on Shakespeare, taking freebie holidays to Mustique, choosing £800 rolls of wallpaper to be bothering himself with a rise in 'Kung flu'

strangeshapedpotato · 26/05/2021 10:50

Nothing new so far - although it's the first time anyone in the media has mentioned the fact that the UK strategy was based on the "wrong virus" - i.e. flu - a plan we followed to the letter through Feb/early March and only ditched it when Ferguson hit the alarm button.

JovialNickname · 26/05/2021 10:52

Fabulous car crash tv, he dropped the f-bomb live earlier for maximum effect too

BeastfromtheNorthEast · 26/05/2021 10:52

Ha ha ha he says he thinks Hancock should be firedfor lying. Back at ya Dom! You should know Boris doesn't sack anyone!
