Has anyone under 50 been able to move 2nd jab fwd online?

Hi

I gave my 2nd jab booked in for late June- exactly 11 weeks after my 1st one. Booked via nhs site. I'm 47.

I want to bring it forward a week as I'm due to travel for essential work to an EU country 2 weeks after that and I'm hearing that entry may be conditional on having had both jabs at least 2 weeks previously. Plus my employer has advised this and I'd like to be as safe as poss.

119 told me the booking system which they and the public use will not allow the under 50s to book a 2nd jab less than 11 weeks after the 1st. But the 119 Adviser told me anecdotally he knows of some under 50s who have managed to book less than 11 weeks apart on the system- said he thinks there may be a glitch for some people?

I'm just worried about cancelling my 2nd jab and not being able to rebook one sooner than the one I've got at 11 weeks- has anyone tried this?

I didn't move it forward as such as I had my first jab (AZ if that makes any difference) via the GP. I'm 46 and I was able to book my second on the NHS site for 8 weeks time, although I couldn't book the same venue so I may end up waiting.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 24/05/2021 12:56

Sorry, I hit send too soon. When I was booking mine there was loads of availability, although I know that can obviously change

Forgottenyeti · 24/05/2021 12:58

From what people have said, it depends if you had AZ or not. AZ should be fine to move.

Schulte · 24/05/2021 12:59

Friends of mine have done it successfully, in their late 40s.

IndigoC · 24/05/2021 13:09

Curious about this for non-AZ.

Also is it true that people booking first doses now (in their 30s) are able to book their second for 8 weeks later? Because that feels unfair (given relative hospitalisation risk) to the 40-49 bracket who are stuck with 11-12 weeks.

hennybeans · 24/05/2021 13:14

I'm early 40s, had first jab early May. Booking system was showing second appt 12 weeks later. I didn't book as my local centre where I received my first wasn't showing. One day I checked and it was offering me an appt exactly 8 weeks after first, still not at my local centre. I booked that appt in case it was a fluke.

person6743 · 24/05/2021 13:17

@IndigoC No. DH and I both booked for this week in our 30s and the earliest or we could get was 11 weeks after.

Forgottenyeti · 24/05/2021 13:34

My brother just booked his and I specifically asked him about the gap for this reason and it was 11 weeks. Not tried rebooking myself as it's not worked for anyone else and I'm scared I'll get a less convenient time.

It makes sense but it's annoying 😂

Okay, thank you. Website currently says 8-12 weeks, so I wondered. I hope they’re able to reduce the gap for all of us soon.

person6743 · 24/05/2021 13:47

@IndigoC me too, I'm currently only 4 days out being fully vaccinated before my maybe holiday!

Frazzled2207 · 24/05/2021 14:03

Following as an early 40s person. I do think if government manages to get more clarity on vaccine supply it might be easier for us to bring ours forward too but we might need to wait a bit on that.

In the meantime if you try and find out locally where is offering your vaccine once you've got to 8 weeks, I think you have a good chance of getting lucky if you turn up at the end of the day.

Italiandreams · 24/05/2021 14:06

Could only book mine 12 weeks apart, I’m pregnant and ends up being in my due date . Hoping to be able to change it at some point.

Freddiefox · 24/05/2021 14:16

Yes I managed to change mine from 12 weeks to 9.

nordica · 24/05/2021 14:28

One of my friends posted about this on her FB as she was able to move hers, and then lots of of her other friends commented to say they'd just done the same. That was last week and most were coming up to the 8 week point around now. (I was actually surprised so many people in their 20s-40s were already 8 weeks past their first vaccinations when I've just only just had my first, but that's another issue...)

MyHairNeedsASnip · 24/05/2021 14:33

I moved mine, backwards not forwards because it clashed with work, but there were plenty of spaces if I'd wanted an earlier booking.

Rainbowsandstorms · 24/05/2021 14:40

I logged in to try and move mine back, AZ and I could have booked most days from today which is the 9 week mark. I’m in my 30s. Pfizer I think you’re less likely to be able to but I think there are lots of AZ appointments as it’s no longer really being used for first doses now we are down to booking under 40s in.

Missypuff30 · 24/05/2021 15:17

Health worker category and moved mine from 11 weeks to 10 weeks after the announcement recently

Eccle80 · 24/05/2021 15:19

I’m early 40s and have been able to move both mine and DH’s forward, to 9 weeks rather than 11, and could have had 8.

Eccle80 · 24/05/2021 15:20

Maybe try late at night when there won’t be many people booking, so if you cancel and can’t get anything earlier, you should be able to rebook your original one

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 24/05/2021 15:22

Me, I’m 46 my second AZ due on 1st July. Had to change it and it offered me the middle of June so eight weeks. I went for it as I’d rather be done and dusted. It was nearer as well but I wouldn’t bank on that particularly

motogogo · 24/05/2021 15:26

I was texted to move mine but didn't bother because it's soon and the times are back 2 back with dd

capercaillie · 24/05/2021 15:30

We have local clinics with walk in session, including for second doses. They will jab if 8 weeks from 1st dose and not based on age. I've seen them advertised on social media.

Sunnysausage · 24/05/2021 15:44

I brought my AZ appointment forward last night from 11 weeks on 30th June to 8 weeks. For exactly the same reason as you - ie wanting to travel to Europe in July. Not a vast range of availability but I had a choice of 3 days at our nearest centre. I am 49.

Pinotwoman82 · 24/05/2021 15:45

Yes I moved mine it was middle of June at 11 weeks but had it at the weekend and it was 8 weeks

Totallyaddictedtoshoes · 24/05/2021 15:50

I want to do this but I'm worried as the nhs site says you have to cancel and rebook and I'm concerned I'll end up with a later appointment!
