Limited travel list for the foreseeable future

So Boris has said that the number of places we can travel to is likely to remain extremely limited for the foreseeable future

It was very all depressing

The government clearly don’t want us to travel and this gives them the perfect excuse to keep the options of places to go extremely limited

It wouldn’t even surprise me if travel was banned altogether again

Not sure how much more of this we can all tolerate ☹️

This is so depressing. This is being handled so badly.

The Bolton - India thing needs to be addressed locally.

Franklin12 · 14/05/2021 20:29

Tired of. Totally agree. My idea of hell is a UK holiday. That and the rip off pricing. The UK tourist industry (I am looking at you Cornwall) who don’t really want any tourists but DO want to charge ridiculous prices. I hope when it’s pissing down with rain they live up to their silly pricing.

Where were you planning on going?

If I was going somewhere, I wouldn’t mind going to the Faroe Islands. Surely something fun and different.

tiredofthisshit21 · 14/05/2021 20:42

I have a luxury holiday to Corfu booked. A blow the budget type holiday to an amazing 5 star hotel. After the last year we just had a 'fuck it' moment. I thought the Greek isles would be a safe bet. I'm utterly depressed at the thought that we won't be going, and I refuse to be told I'm being selfish about it.

RoseRedRoseBlue · 14/05/2021 20:50

@tiredofthisshit21 it’s not selfish at all. Why shouldn’t people have holidays? I too am bored of the relentless ‘do this do that’ diatribe from the grossly hypocritical, inept Government. I really hope that you get your break and that you enjoy every second of it 😀

Thank you. That's the kindest thing anyone has ever said to me on here 😊

RoseRedRoseBlue · 14/05/2021 21:04

@tiredofthisshit21 my pleasure - it can be brutal on here 🙂

Doomsdayisstillcoming · 14/05/2021 21:07

@tiredofthisshit21

But but the bit about the inept government?

RoseRedRoseBlue · 14/05/2021 21:08

@Doomsdayisstillcoming I take it we have a different view?

PuppyMonkey · 14/05/2021 21:11

It’s almost like there’s a global pandemic or something going on.

tiredofthisshit21 · 14/05/2021 21:17

Of course they're fucking inept. The handling of this variant in very specified localised places could be handled better and nipped in the bud. And don't get me started on the mixed messages.

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 14/05/2021 21:17

Some people have and will never be in a position to have a holiday of any description and would be only to glad to sit in a caravan in the rain I'm sure

I'm well aware. I was one of those people for my entire childhood. Forgive me for wanting better.

If you don't want to do that then just forgo the holiday this year and you can get back to sunning yourself in the Med whenever there's not a pandemic!

And last year, next year, year after that. There'll be enough new varients I imagine.

BTW I've had many holidays in the rain, fun is what you make of it, there is never bad weather just inappropriate clothing

Good for you. Would you like a gold star?

So condescending as if people who enjoy better weather are so thick they can't wear a sodding raincoat. No, we just hate it because that's the weather here like 90% of the time.

tiredofthisshit21 · 14/05/2021 21:20

Abso-fucking-lutely @Getyourarseofffthequattro. I couldn't have put it better myself.

RoseRedRoseBlue · 14/05/2021 21:23

@Getyourarseofffthequattro 👏👏👏👏

Oh gosh no. Can’t stand the Tories.

Not so sure about your new friend though.

I hope not given the price gouging that's going on with those caravans and cleaning demands put on guests who are paying thousands for them. Plenty can't afford a UK holiday at all due to huge price hikes.

I’d start accepting this now OP, the days of free travel here there and everywhere are for now, on hold. It’s not just our government either, other countries have tourism restrictions in place too.

Be grateful the non toleration of travel is the only thing you have to deal with, spare a thought for the people who are losing their livelihoods and careers because of this pandemic.

lljkk · 14/05/2021 21:31

Is covid pandemic 'happening' over much longer period than Spanish flu did precisely because of the strict control measures?

The loudest voices are the ones who want strict & stricter controls, so I guess is probably what majority want.

..and of course a high level of non toleration of travel will itself be the cause of many people losing their livelihoods and careers...

AlandAnna · 14/05/2021 22:55

So, so many of us have close family overseas.
It’s heartbreaking. It’s not about holidays.

It's about whatever's important to people. I'm sick of hearing that people with family abroad should have priority. We all have an equal right to travel.
Coldwine75 · 14/05/2021 23:08

Come on not having a holiday is not the end of the world, i have no desire to go abroad this year and will accept it if cant go next.

Coldwine75 · 14/05/2021 23:09

Anyone going abroad last year , or this is incredibly selfish.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 14/05/2021 23:11

I don't care about having a foreign holiday but we are desperate to go to the States to see Dh's dad. He will be 90 next year, so time is running out.

tiredofthisshit21 · 14/05/2021 23:15

I went twice last year. So shoot me 🔫
