Choosing not to get vaccine

Not looking to start a fight, but interested if you have made the decision not to get the vaccine and have no condition that you know of that would stop you, why not?

Family members abroad have decided not to get the vaccine (Pfizer I think). Vague concerns about it not being safe and/ or tested enough. They both work outside the home and have families. Fairly fit and healthy so unlikely to be seriously affected by COVID, under 50 years of age.

It's not something I agree with but up to them I guess. I'm also unlikely to get ill but had my first vaccine mainly to help stop the spread (and I'd like to go abroad!)

So if you haven't had it, I'm interested in your reasoning if you would care to share.

If you don’t have apple read this.
This is why all must have vaccine unless contraindicated

Justa47 no one must do anything you say. Some of your posts are plain and simple bullying. You insist that people do what you say and call them selfish and tell them to grow up when they don't agree. This is supposed to be a discussion forum. That is not discussion, that's like a 5 year old throwing a temper tantrum Hmm

Completely agree. What gives anyone on here the right to think they can dictate to others about what they put into their own bodies?! Hmm

@NeverForgetYourDreams

DH has a needle phobia. He fainted when having a pin prick on finger once.

He went for the first dose. And he's going for the second.

So proud of him as it's taken so much guts to go

That's brilliant, well done him!

That is brilliant. Phobias can terrible to live with, and some of the comments here about people with them have been shocking.

Authoritarian thinking. It's more prevalent than ever.

BonnieDundee · 09/05/2021 19:00

I agree Xeno. Am really surprised that @MNHQ have allowed some posts to stand.

Justa47 · 09/05/2021 19:02

@PetraRabbit

This is not a normal situation it’s a pandemic
Jesus. And people speak utter BS because they simply don’t understand side effect profiles, public health etc and so forth.

Seems that you really just hate that people have a choice in all this. Well tough.

Justa47 · 09/05/2021 19:05

@BonnieDundee

Yes many of yours .
Being non databased in a pandemic where people are citing because people who can don’t take vaccines. That’s the truth.

Would be fine if you could afford your own island to do what you like but you live in a community and that means behaving like an adult and Doug your duty

From your posts earlier you will not.
You had behind emotional beating and bad data analysis and lack of understanding of drugs and public health.

But you post is a way to legitimise selfish behaviour and then blame other when they point out you should stand up do the right thing be and adult and have your jabs.

It’s sickening

Justa47 · 09/05/2021 19:06

Meant people dying not citing

LondonWFuck · 09/05/2021 19:06

@Justa47 what would be your preference? State-enforced vaccination?

Justa47 · 09/05/2021 19:08

@LondonWFuck

Not hate. I pity them.
They ignorance they have.
The unscientific trash they talk.
And their selfishness
And how offended they get when called to account.

They will have to life with the guilt of in a population public health sense harming others.

It’s shameful. Not tough.

MaxNormal · 09/05/2021 19:08

Jesus. And people speak utter BS because they simply don’t understand side effect profiles, public health etc and so forth.

You mean like you? You're barely coherent.

Suzi888 · 09/05/2021 19:09

I know someone who isn’t anti vaxxer, not having the vaccine as she is young and healthy and has already had covid. Doesn’t drink, smoke, is vegetarian and exercises daily. It doesn’t make sense to her, to get vaccinated.
I don’t have an opinion either way, it’s up to the individual what they decide to put into their bodies.

So what would be your solution to get everyone vaccinated? Take away people's right to bodily autonomy?

Pyewackect · 09/05/2021 19:09

No, don’t know of anybody who has refused the vaccine.

Justa47 · 09/05/2021 19:10

@MaxNormal

Just so disappointed that people are so selfish and hopeless

And no I have a medical degree.
Just don’t have my glasses and typing on phone.

Justa47 · 09/05/2021 19:11

@MaxNormal
So if you don’t understand the bit you copied I suggest you are more so.

Justa47 · 09/05/2021 19:13

@MaxNormal

It’s the same as the BS I suffered calling people out for breaking the rules at Xmas and look what happened then because people did

It’s a pandemic it’s not a normal situation.

Have you not noticed that?
I am sure you have.

LondonWFuck · 09/05/2021 19:14

How do you propose everyone get vaccinated then? Do you not want people to have a choice? @Justa47

MaxNormal · 09/05/2021 19:14

Maybe leave people alone? You've been "calling out" people for months, do you not see how sad and abnormal that is?
Sorry to be harsh but honestly, enough.

Nameregretter · 09/05/2021 19:17

@pinkmagnolias

I've had my first AZ and won't be getting the second. Like a previous poster, I'm still a bit in shock that I got caught up in the whirlwind of being vaccinated and regret getting the first vaccine.

If I'd had a Pfizer vaccine, I'd take the second vaccine too.

I know a couple of people who refused the AZ. They aren't anti vax at all. They are anti AZ though.

Same. My GP surgery had spares and phoned me up and I just accepted it without really questioning too much. I’m 34 and breastfeeding a 5 month old and had horrendous side effects that lasted 2 weeks and ended up in an A&E trip. I seriously regret it now, particularly as my age group will no longer be offered AZ. I’m not having the second.
BonnieDundee · 09/05/2021 19:30

Most of your post makes no sense. Can you point out the post where I blamed anyone? I am simply telling you that I'll make my own decisions and you get no say in it.

By the way for future reference you may wish to bear in mind the saying that you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar Grin

Sunshinegirl82 · 09/05/2021 19:34

@KOKOagainandagain

I'm sorry but most of your post is incorrect. Very few vaccines offer sterilising immunity. The current covid vaccines significantly reduce the chances of both contracting covid and, crucially, being able to transmit covid to others.

So there really is a benefit to society at large when individuals receive the vaccine.

Whether an individual has the vaccine or not is a choice for them but it is not true that choosing not to have the vaccine only impacts the individual concerned.

electricdreamssheep · 09/05/2021 19:40

Just get the vaccine. 🤷‍♀️
