Sorry to be morbid, but who are the people now dying of Covid 19 in the UK?

Surely all the ECV people (both in terms of age or medical issues) have had 2 vaccines by now and had had them 28 days ago?

I am quite perturbed that our death rates are still so high tbh.

ECV and haven’t had my second dose yet

Marguerite2000 · 05/05/2021 21:57

@fiheka

Hasn't made Boris Johnson lose weight though.
Yes it has. He has lost weight, though he may still be in the overweight category.
wonkylegs · 05/05/2021 21:58

I'm vulnerable (group 6) my second dose is in 3weeks some people with my condition have been unable to have the vaccinations due to the medications they are on - they will still be vulnerable and are relying on a large take up of vaccines to drive down rates of infection to protect them.

HolmeH · 05/05/2021 21:59

Can I hijack & ask - my mum is on steroids for an autoimmune condition that’s not overly well controlled. She & my dad have had both jabs. We are in their bubble as we had a child under one when that rule came in.. so we see them indoors regularly. Should we have had our vaccines as well?! Reading PP seems to imply households of immunocompromised people have been.. we don’t live with them but see them several times a week, including my children who attend nursery.. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Or do bubbles not count?

fiheka · 05/05/2021 22:01

Boris Johnson seemed to lose a bit of weight initially, but he looks to me like he put it back on.

GabsAlot · 05/05/2021 22:07

Dint quote me holmeh but i dont think bubbles count think youve have to live with them

Bluntness100 · 05/05/2021 22:31

Op. I don’t know how people can explain it to you. It’s like no matter what is said you’re sticking your fingers in your ears and singing I can’t hear you

Firstly how many of those were vaccinated. Not every person in every group was vaccinated, some through choice, some due to other conditions. Secondly the data has shown that there is basically no one dying from Covid who caught Covid after they were fully vaccinated and post the three weeks.

@HermioneWeasley

It’s people dying within 28 days of a positive Covid test, so dying “with” rather than necessarily “from”
This x 100
fiheka · 05/05/2021 22:54

About 150000 people who have died have had covid mentioned on their death certificates.
I know the covid deniers like to see the deaths as all people who were due to die at any minute anyway. But the facts do not back this theory. But I find facts rarely seem to change peoples minds.

annlee3817 · 05/05/2021 23:22

My Grandma passed away a few weeks ago, she was a week away from having her second vaccine, caught it in her care home :(

CarrieAntoinette · 05/05/2021 23:26

My relative had covid in February and had been in and out of hospital ever since with low oxygen levels and breathing problems, was never well enough for a second jab, and has recently sadly died.

They won't count in the 28 day numbers reported daily.

Definately · 05/05/2021 23:26

I'm CV and haven't been vaccinated at all yet because I'm pregnant. Lots of people haven't even got their first vaccine yet.

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 05/05/2021 23:36

Some of the very vulnerable elderly people with dementia who I look after sadly haven't been vaccinated

They all lack capacity and we tried to do most of them in their best interests but some are resistive and aggressive and it would not be safe to be waving needles near them that they do not want.

Some people will just never be able to have the vaccine and there is a small percentage failure rate of people for whom it doesn't work too.

LadyWhistledownsQuill · 05/05/2021 23:38

The 7 day rolling average of deaths is 13.

It's not high.

minniemomo · 05/05/2021 23:40

Some of the people dying have been ill for months, others either still got covid despite the vaccine working, refused the vaccine or the vaccine didn't work at all

fiheka · 05/05/2021 23:43

Depends what you mean by ill for months. I have béen ill since I was 22, but hardly anyone knows. Still work full time and have a family.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 05/05/2021 23:50

I've had both vaccinations. I'm ECV. My medication reduces the effectiveness of the vaccine and makes me more susceptible to respiratory viruses. And I have dc at school who obviously aren't vaccinated. It's not as simple as vaccinated = safe.

AdriannaP · 05/05/2021 23:54

I know two elderly people who had one dosis each and died of covid (not in this country though). It can happen.

Appyalpaca · 06/05/2021 00:41

It’s true that some have been ill for a very long time but the governments figures only include deaths within 28 days

Appyalpaca · 06/05/2021 00:44

There are also vulnerable people who are immunosuppressed who despite having vaccines can’t develop immunity. That’s why it’s important that we all get vaccinated.

Appyalpaca · 06/05/2021 00:47

Wrong.

The ONS death statistics show everyone who had died with covid as a cause. Their figure is over150,000. More than 20,000 greater than the gov’s within 28 days figure.

Torvean · 06/05/2021 05:28

The deaths are not high.
Your vaccination expectations are a bit high. The vaccine with the best results cary from 89-93%, none give 99% protection.

Why do you think deaths are high?

What do you think the death rate is atm?

SandysMam · 06/05/2021 06:32

@Gullible2021 I don’t think you are fat shaming and in fact I don’t think this message goes far enough. I work in a hospital and it is common knowledge to staff that the BIGGEST common denominator in younger people who have been in ITU or died is obesity. If two 50 year olds came in, one normal BMI with COPD, one obese with no underlying conditions, it would far more likely be the second one who needed more help. More needs to be made of it in my opinion. Not to fat shame people but to give them the facts.

Death rates are not high!!!! Yesterday it was 7 deaths within 28 days of a covid positive. If you think that number is high, I don't know how you will react when you find out the number of cancer deaths, suicides etc. In the nicest way, you really need to get a grip.
