There is a lot being said on social media but not much in mainstream news which is interesting given how many people seem to have gone to the one in London at least. I understand there were some elsewhere in the country too.

Just curious if anyone took part
and what people think about the protests.

You don't condone it but you would happily march along side it. If there were people there with neo-nazi symbols (which there may well have been) would you happily march along side them too?

vera99 · 25/04/2021 22:57

If you lie down with dogs you get fleas.

Terracotta9 is clearly too intelligent, patient and reasonable to be amongst you bunch of self righteous, virtue signalling, thicktard, bullies. Why don't you just get it over with and stone her to death?
I've never met an apologist for anti-semitism I'd describe as intelligent, and certainly not reasonable

Once again - having a difference of opinion is not bullying. Calling people who think that marching with anti-Semites isn't very nice 'thicktards', however, could be construed as such.
Tumbleweed101 · 25/04/2021 23:00
@Tumbleweed101 do you have similar reservations about blood clots and the contraceptive pill?
I've never taken the pill - and that is one of the reasons why, plus I'm not comfortable with how it messes the natural rhythm of the body. I've also avoided things like anti depressants for similar reasons. However I am not against medication where the benefits outweigh the risks, but I do prefer to know what risks I'm taking. This is a new medication and not so easy to judge the risks fully at this stage so I understand a wariness around it. I also understand why it is considered necessary. I think the government have misjudged the need for social coercion - ie covid passports - and should have continued to make it a positive thing given the uptake has been good.

and here is the age-old tropes wrapped in new age nonsense about 'global elites' who want to control the people - a wolf in sheeple's clothing. The virus is up and running once again.

I don’t think you know what virtue signalling means. It’s inappropriate in this context. They’re have been Jewish posters explaining how offensive it is to see protesters wearing yellow stars. We need to listen.

It’s unpleasant when supposed grown ups use the word “tard”. It’s ableist and in Nazi Germany, people with disabilities were also persecuted.

Barearseloverofthigh · 26/04/2021 00:08

Haenow Oh dear. Are you a bit offended. Bet you were tempted by the stoning option weren't you.

Barearseloverofthigh · 26/04/2021 00:10

TheVampiresWife I'm sure your spotlessly clean and generous mind will construe it any way you like

Northernsoulgirl45 · 26/04/2021 01:01

On another thread someone claimed the vaccination programme was a breach of the Nurrmberg code. Now that is offensive too so not really surprised by yellow star issue.

It’s not about my personal views. I didn’t say I was offended. Your patronising reply says all I need to know though. I should have known better than to engage in a discussion about racism on MN, it ends up the same way.

I wonder if they shot all the protesters, how much quicker we'd be able to fully reopen society.

Terracotta9 · 26/04/2021 17:53

Who wants to live in a society where they shoot protestors?

ineedaholidaynow · 26/04/2021 17:59

I think if they shot all the protestors the people wearing the yellow stars might have had a point. But funnily enough the protestors were able to march without being shot

Who wants to live in a society where large groups of people are allowed to endanger the lives of others without consequence?

I mean what if I organised a protest involving hundreds of cars driving at 60mph through central London without stopping, "protesting" at speed limits and traffic lights?

Does the right to protest trump all other rights, including the rights of others to simply live?

Blubellwood · 26/04/2021 19:36

Looks like pictures of the Brexit protest in 2018 have been used to pretend they were from yesterday. This fuelled the lie about a million attending

The Facebook one comes up with a ‘False information’ warning. Never seen that before!

BonnieDundee · 26/04/2021 21:07

Who wants to live in a society where large groups of people are allowed to endanger the lives of others without consequence?

But the government's own scientists have said that there has been no spike arising from previous protests and gatherings so how are other people's lives being endangered?

Northernsoulgirl45 · 26/04/2021 21:32

@toffeebutterpopcorn I see it lots as I have a relative who shares that sort of stuff.

Taken from the BBC website in case anyone recognises these people

Anti lockdown protests yesterday.
TruelyWonder · 30/04/2021 09:24

Det Ch Insp Nat Norris described the violence against officers as "some of the worst I have seen in recent years", with missiles thrown at police.

Five of the officers required medical attention, the Met said.

“These officers were simply trying to do their job and it can never be acceptable for them to be attacked in this way," Det Ch Insp Norris said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
