Follow-on to the happy thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4210673-Can-the-40-49-age-group-now-book-their-vaccine.

(I'm jabbed, but just here to read happy news of jabs and try to book DH when it's his time.)

Thank you for the tweet thread link, interesting stuff. Typically the lowest supply is predicted just as the booking is likely to open for me (late 30s). Currently the wait feels very, very long... 😐

Wakeupin2022 · 14/04/2021 20:58

We still have ~20 million Pfizer to come. Or else we did do at end of March.

I think we have enough for 2nd doses. We also ha enough Moderna coming through. I think inam thinking we can pretty much scrub J&J - at least for this iteration.

I did originally ponder if they should start giving Moderna to the youngsters now. But we really are more risk of hospitalisation or death at 40 something & that just can't be ignored.

I would she disappointed if Wales did make this change as it does seem non sensical, at least at this time

Wakeupin2022 · 14/04/2021 21:00

Novavax I think may be held back for Booster too! And I think it would be good if that could happen- it would give us a running start for the next lot of vaccination.

whatswithtodaytoday · 14/04/2021 21:04

Checking in, I love this thread 😁 At 39 and six months I'm expecting/hoping we'll be mid to end of May, especially having seen that tweet.

whatswithtodaytoday · 14/04/2021 21:05

I meant to ask - how do people find out about drop-in sessions, spare doses etc? I've never seen anything in any local news or groups.

Crispina · 14/04/2021 21:07

Dr Madeline If GPs are allowed to use their discretion more now could you email and put forward your case?

Crispina · 14/04/2021 21:08

(If you can email via contact form as I can

SilverGlitterBaubles · 14/04/2021 21:17

Is it possible to tell in advance which vaccine you will get at a particular hub or is it just whatever is available on the given day?

SilverGlitterBaubles · 14/04/2021 21:19

Also are all vaccines given 12 weeks apart regardless?

user34254356 · 14/04/2021 21:28

@nordica

BBC London news had a brief story about vaccinations and Moderna. Someone asked on the previous thread where to get it in London. They were filming in Islington, looked like a large centre/hall - it wasn't named though but if anyone in N London was keen to get Moderna, you might be able to work out which Islington location it is.
thank you - that's really helpful.

Also seems AFC wimbledon as someone has quoted above.

Wonder if they are doing spares at these two sites.

Twitter, posted by the centres with spare capacity. Usually retweeted by the local news media too.

Haven’t seen any for a week or two here.

It’s worth finding out who your local NHS health and care partnership is if you have one. Then see if they have a Facebook page. Ours does and today they posted about a drop-in for over 45s that was happening locally.
whatswithtodaytoday · 14/04/2021 21:40

Thanks @JustMeAndWheatley Nothing on Twitter for any of my closest hubs! One is a racecourse and seems to be pretending the mass vaccinations aren't happening, all their tweets are about racing.

mrsknottschicken · 14/04/2021 22:02

Round here it is the NHS care partnership that will post on social media, not the venue itself. So that might be worth a try? Your GP website should say who that is.

Marking my spot!

Proudpeacock · 14/04/2021 22:18

Was a bit disheartened yesterday as I am 45 next month but figured it wouldn't be too long to wait. Was just explaining my slight frustration to MIL this evening when my phone pings with an invite from my GP! The first date offered was 21st April so I went for 9.30am. Fingers crossed for everyone else!

TriSarahTops · 14/04/2021 22:50

I was frustrated earlier at the lack of availability of any second appointments within a 30 mile radius. I checked again this evening and was able to book both appointments at the vaccination hub less than a mile away. First appointment 24 April. DH booked in at the same time because otherwise he’s likely to forget to go. We’re both 45 and booked via the national system. My 33 year old brother is still managing to be vaccinated a week before me though (via a text from his GP - he lives in a completely different part of the country).

DrMadelineMaxwell · 14/04/2021 23:32

Thanks Crispin..sadly, the gps here didnt even get on to doing the 50'-55s and that had to be picked up by the vaccine hubs to make sure they met their target for groups 1-9.

That's how my friends in Lewisham found out. Their CCG posted about the drop ins on twitter. It was in the local paper too (print and online).

Crispina · 15/04/2021 01:45

@whatswithtodaytoday Epsom's moved to Sandown I read on here because of the races. Might be under surrey heartlands

Wingingit15 · 15/04/2021 05:49

Where does the thinking of 3 weeks for 40-44 come from?

WarriorN · 15/04/2021 06:45

Placemarking.

I guesstimated 3 weeks. As some newspaper said 6 weeks till under 40s.

Blessex · 15/04/2021 07:19

Waking morning after AZ. My anxiety has gone down massively knowing my body is now learning how to fight this virus. A friend texted me from Spain who has Covid. He said if he had a gun last week he would have shot himself he felt so ill. Another 50 year old friend is in ICU in Italy. Happy my body is learning how to fight a deactivated version.

MRex · 15/04/2021 07:41

I hope both your friends get well soon @Blessex
