Follow-on to the happy thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4210673-Can-the-40-49-age-group-now-book-their-vaccine.

(I'm jabbed, but just here to read happy news of jabs and try to book DH when it's his time.)

Someone on previous thread asked people to post which vaccine they had. Husband just had AZ - London Borough, booked yesterday morning.

DaisyWaldron · 14/04/2021 18:47

About to turn 46, but no appointments are available anywhere I can get to. I started trying to book yesterday at 10am, and it let me book an initial dose but then all the slots for the second dose were gone, so it cancelled the first dose appointment.

I'm hoping that some more appointment slots open up, but there was nothing available today, so I'm just going to keep trying every day until I get something. When the first dose was cancelled, I got a message saying that there might not be any appointments available this month, but I'm going to keep trying anyway and hope something turns up.

Wakeupin2022 · 14/04/2021 18:50

It's not often I want to be a few years older than I am.

Hoping next couple of weeks I should have been jagged once.

nordica · 14/04/2021 18:57

BBC London news had a brief story about vaccinations and Moderna. Someone asked on the previous thread where to get it in London. They were filming in Islington, looked like a large centre/hall - it wasn't named though but if anyone in N London was keen to get Moderna, you might be able to work out which Islington location it is.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 14/04/2021 18:58

The consideration that astrazeneca isn't recommended for under 30s is likely to mess up the order of the roll out in Wales. Betsi Cadwaladr (all of N Wales counties) has said that they may end up skipping over the older groups to vaccinate some under 30s with the supplies they have, presumable with the pfizer, while they wait for the AZ supplies for the older people.

That's so frustrating! 47, fat, asthmatic teacher. I want it as soon as possible and hope every day that I get a letter with an appt through the post! No possibility of signing up online at all. No reserve list for our vaccination lists that we can volunteer for either. They have automatically allocated people onto the reserve inc the police, but it doesn't qualify what other roles might be in the reserve list.

wintertravel1980 · 14/04/2021 18:58

Islington main vaccination centre is in the Business Design Centre.

I'm 44 and eligible to have a vaccine through the GP. They texted last week. But no vaccines available through the link they texted, and the national system doesn't recognise me as eligible because of my date of birth. Beyond frustrated.

happytoday73 · 14/04/2021 18:59

My sibling is 45 but can't get vaccine as turned 45 in April... System says no.

RockPaperScissorLizardSpock · 14/04/2021 19:04

mumohhey I came on here to say the exact same thing! My husband had his 45th birthday this week, but the system won’t allow him to book his vaccine. I phoned 119 and I was told the system hasn’t updated yet and still thinks he’s 44yrs old.

Tolacar · 14/04/2021 19:11

I had the moderna today...I’m 46, booked Monday morning. All good so far, site was AFC Wimbledon.

LaylaRawlings · 14/04/2021 19:18

@mumohhey

Walthamstow has a drop in on Wednesdays. Not sure if it's every Wednesday but you have to be a Waltham Forest resident and eligible for the vaccine. Maybe some other boroughs do a similar thing?

ilovebrie8 · 14/04/2021 19:20

My partner 49 booked online as found out GP not doing a clinic. We were waiting for a GP text. Only thing is you need to travel to get a sooner date but all good he’s booked.

Squidthing · 14/04/2021 19:24

Someone asked on previous thread about how far behind GPS were, my husband got a text today from our GP and he'd already booked so only a couple of days in his case which makes me think I may wait as GP is a 5 minute walk away rather than a 10 min bus ride.

thekingfisher · 14/04/2021 19:31

Had mine yesterday morning after getting tipped off on Monday night on here ! Felt rough overnight until about 2pm this afternoon now back to normal!

Tealightsandd · 14/04/2021 19:36

@mumohhey
There was a drop in clinic in Lewisham. I don't know if they're still doing it but it's worth checking.

@DrMadelineMaxwell I think that's terrible. They should surely prioritise over 40s, who are at higher risk than under 30s?

I hope everyone here manages to get an appointment booked soon.

MRex · 14/04/2021 20:27

That's awful. Surely they should expect to use Novovax, or just risk later delivery for 20-29, rather than leave late 40s exposed to risk.

Hope you get it soon Dr Madeline

MarcelineMissouri · 14/04/2021 20:35

Here is an interesting tweet about how our supply levels can be worked out

Remmy123 · 14/04/2021 20:37

@BunsyGirl I mean someone with no underlying conditions

Frazzled2207 · 14/04/2021 20:37

@DrMadelineMaxwell
I’m horrified at your behalf. They should be making sure they have their second doses sorted then carrying on with the age groups in declining order (eg with Az) even if that means holding back some Pfizer for lower age groups. Novavax won’t be here before June but will be very helpful and well timed for the younger age groups at this rate.

MRex · 14/04/2021 20:41

In my opinion Pfizer should only be held back for 16-17 yo CV, or any 18-29 newly CV / new healthcare workers. I would think that can be managed alongside second doses. If there's so much more that first doses can be done then it should go to next in line.

Thanks for all the info about future projected first dose supplies everyone. Flowers

mumohhey · 14/04/2021 20:49

Thank you for tips on drop in clinics! Unfortunately not my boroughs but it makes me hopeful. Will keep a look out for one nearer me.

Thecatisboss · 14/04/2021 20:52

Just back from getting jabbed tonight. I booked on Monday night as soon as I read on here that under 50s could (as I'm 47) and DH is booked for next week. Couldn't stop smiling afterwards.

mrsknottschicken · 14/04/2021 20:54

I don’t think the GPs can be that far behind now as I’ve just got my text invite.
