Do you know anyone who has been vaccinated, but subsequently contracted covid and died? *(Title edited)

Just looking for anecdata, which I know is not robust. I was wondering if anyone here knows someone who has died of covid after being vaccinated? Not including people who tested positive a few days after being vaccinated, where obviously they hadn't developed immunity yet. Just wondering really.

@manicinsomniac

OP is asking about death from Covid post vax, not death by side effect.
Sorry yes this is what I meant, sorry if that wasn't clear.

No.

I read an article recently that said there had been cases of people dying of covid after having been vaccinated but the majority had likely either caught covid prior to their vaccination or within 2 weeks of vaccination before the vaccine had time to become effective. I’ll have a hunt to see if I can find the article.

@SplendidSuns1000

Our neighbour's mother passed at 87 just after her 2nd jab. She was very ill (not side effects of jab) and had a fall at home and passed shortly after.
Please could you clarify, did she die from Covid?

That’s quite worrying after two jabs if so.

ChocOrange1 · 27/03/2021 16:32

@HopeClearwater

Don’t you mean ‘died because they’ve been vaccinated? There are probably a few very old people who had the vaccination this year and then died a couple of months later. From old age.
No I meant people who had the vaccine, and later contracted covid and died. Not died due to the vaccine or died from other causes e.g. Old age. This data must be out there somewhere, but I can't find it.

Not not post vaccination of covid, but know several who died of covid prior to vaccination and we've lost 3 post vaccination but not of covid. Occupational hazard in my line of work, I go to a lot of funerals!

@Lovelydovey

My DM is in ITU touch and go with covid. She had her vaccine at the start of March. She’d had a positive covid test at end December, two hospital admissions in Jan and Feb but was recovering and had had three negative covid tests. But she tested positive again 10 days after the vaccine. But then she’s a strange case - she’s immunosuppressed, they weren’t sure if the vaccine would work for her, and don’t whether this is a reinfection or not.
Sorry to hear about your mum, I hope she recovers soon Flowers

No. The only deaths from jabs I've heard of were those that were reported in and by various news outlets.

I did know a few people who died with CV, and know other people whose friends and relatives have died of it, as well as friends whose relatives work in CV wards, and continue to watch people suffer with and die of it.

Also a few people who've had CV, and not died, but who really, *really don't want it again.

Here you go. Hopefully will provide you with reassurance.

No. If you look at the surveillance report you can see outbreaks in care homes dropping and lots of anecdata that fewer people get unwell.
www.gov.uk/government/statistics/national-flu-and-covid-19-surveillance-reports

However, there have been cases including deaths e.g. www.sidmouthherald.co.uk/news/holmesley-care-home-arrests-7852682.

@ChocOrange1 it might be worth asking MNHQ if they can change your thread title to say "..died of Covid after..."

Nannewnannew · 27/03/2021 16:38

@MrsFrisbyMouse

No. But I know two people who painted their front doors yellow. Grin
😂😂😂
dontsaveusername · 27/03/2021 16:38

I'm sure there must have been a couple of 100 year olds worldwide Hmm

SusannahSophia · 27/03/2021 16:39

The Guardian article is about people hospitalised rather than dying, though, sorry.

earthyfire · 27/03/2021 16:40

No. But then I also don't know anyone who has Covid and I have a very big family.

MmeLaraque · 27/03/2021 16:41

This data must be out there somewhere, but I can't find it.

As an FYI, they're only just getting to the end of the over-50s vaccinations in our area. That data may not even be available yet.

The oldies (80+) had their first jabs some weeks ago, and they're not due second jabs until mid-April. Those who believe the vulnerable are vaccinated are deluded/misinformed. Not saying you're either of those things, just making a note.

Agreed, it’s very frustrating seeing posted reply “yes I know people that died” but not saying if they’d been vaccinated or if they actually died from Covid or not.

Saying “yes I know someone who had the vaccine and died 3 months later” is meaningless if they were hit by a car or never contracted Covid or simply died of old age is pointless and only likely to scaremonger.

I have reported my thread and asked them to change it. I thought if people read the actual post it would be clear.

Lucky you. I know/knew several people who had it. Some have died. The ones who didn't really don't want it again. Why is family size relevant?
islockdownoveryet · 27/03/2021 16:44

No and I think it’s pretty unlikely too , if you need convincing the vaccine works dd tested positive with Covid no vaccine . Me dh and dc who have had the vaccine and 10 days in and still negative from Covid. I think it would be quite conclusive that we would all have Covid if it wasn’t for the vaccine.

480Widdio · 27/03/2021 16:44

No.

Fairyfield · 27/03/2021 16:45

My friend's dad (80) got covid after being vaccinated. He is in a nursing home and tested positive but did not have a single symptom. Without the vaccine, I think his chances of survival would have been slim.

Twattergy · 27/03/2021 16:45

Everyone will die after having the covid jab. Eventually.

babbaloushka · 27/03/2021 16:46

InTheseUncertainTimes · 27/03/2021 16:47

Anecdotally I know of one person locally, but she was well over 90 years old, so I wouldn't think it that extraordinary that she happened to die at any particular moment really.
