Along with any other unnecessary travel abroad.

@Puffler

Irrespective of the points you raise
It was an utterly morose comment by the poster

Parker231 · 24/03/2021 18:13

@Viviennemary - some of us need to travel in order to see family. Not everyone has their family in the U.K..

Londonmummy66 · 24/03/2021 18:17

Good

It will hack off my DPs and their mates who have all been planning their trips away now they've been double jabbed but I really do think that it is the best way to protect us until everyone has been vaccinated.

TownTalkJewels · 24/03/2021 18:18

@Viviennemary

Good. People move around far too much these days. It's not necessary.
@Viviennemary you sound like an exceedingly boring person.

Well said Puffler...

Chemtrail123 · 24/03/2021 18:34

Well said!

KC934 · 24/03/2021 18:34

Tbh I don't see the point in going abroad this year anyway. Other countries are going to have restrictions in place, a lot of events and places to visit won't be open, plus there's the time and expense of quarantine either side of a holiday.

bemusedmoose · 24/03/2021 18:41

Yes because apparently common sense jumped off a cliff when the pandemic started!

The sensible thing to do is stay home and stop spreading it, not bugger of around the world taking Brit covid out there and their covid back here.

It was previously advised not to travel but due people not giving a damn its had to be made law. Anyone with an ounce of sense wouldnt go anyway.

Everyone wants a break, a holiday, some fun.... But in the middle of a pandemic isn't the time to do it.

lifeturnsonadime · 24/03/2021 18:42

People who don't see the point in going abroad this year or who wouldn't anyway are massively missing the point.

It's a bit like saying I don't care if pubs and nightclubs never open again because I don't use them.

This government can make laws, on the basis of so called 'public health' impunity if nobody bothers to use critical thinking about their efficacy and whether the measures are equally applied to ALL. When they are not applied to all then what is the real purpose of the measures?

lifeturnsonadime · 24/03/2021 18:42

should say with impunity.

cherish123 · 24/03/2021 18:48

I thought it was already. Much as I'd love a holiday, it's a necessity to ban foreign travel. There are actually too many exemptions.

maddiemookins16mum · 24/03/2021 18:54

Several of my travel industry friend have already been warned at work that huge redundancies are coming, they’ve stopped uploading new flights and accommodation to their websites and the complaints department is going from 22 to 7 from 01 May.

KC934 · 24/03/2021 18:54

Of course I'd love to go on holiday, but I also don't have the time or money to waste on fines or being quarantined, I'm not fucking made of money like Bojo's dad.

Angrymum22 · 24/03/2021 18:57

I was talking to a patient yesterday who was redeployed to ICU. After hearing about her experience of the pandemic over the last 12 months it’s hard to believe people are moaning about missing out on a holiday abroad.
I can understand those wishing to travel to se family but to claim it is your right to sit on a beach for a week or two when so many lives have been devastated by this virus which spread rapidly through the world via travel hubs.
Why people assume that this will be over by the end of June is beyond me.

Sadsiblingatsea · 24/03/2021 18:59

Boris the self styled libertarian is the most authoritarian PM ever.
This government are stealing our freedoms and they disgust me.

Lentillover1900 · 24/03/2021 19:03

* Why people assume that this will be over by the end of June is beyond me.*

Check our latest stats in your area.
And that will give you a pretty good idea why some assume it will be
Large SE town here. 0-2 confirmed cases last week.
Not a typo “0-2” confirmed covid cases. In a large SE commuter belt town.

I’m not the last bit surprised!! Grin
Sadsiblingatsea · 24/03/2021 19:05

It’s not left wing v right wing anymore, it’s authoritarians v libertarians.

natsays · 24/03/2021 19:10

Have not seen my parents for a year. They live on the continent. I am forbidden to go. Yet, had I owned a second house there I could go.
Shame I do not own a second house there.

Their exceptions to the rules are only self serving. Bastards.

KC934 · 24/03/2021 19:16

Right?? People are just gluttons for punishment with short memories. They really think that this year isn't going to be a repeat of last year? When we've already been told 1) this Christmas we will see a resurgence, and 2) We'll be hit with a 3rd wave very soon. People just want to hear the good news and ignore the reality of the situation.

Chichiboo · 24/03/2021 19:30

I’m glad personally.... can’t risk bringing it back and having another lockdown ...although I fear that May come anyway ....

bumbleymummy · 24/03/2021 19:31

So you don’t think that having a significant number of immune people in the population - after infection and vaccinating the most vulnerable groups - is going to make any difference?

Mummadeze · 24/03/2021 19:32

I haven’t seen my family since Xmas 2019. I completely understand why. It don’t want to contribute to potentially spreading it around. I am prepared to be patient. It isn’t easy but it is necessary.
