Another anti lockdown protest in London, the police will be criticised if they arrest anyone, they cannot win. Why can't people just stay at home, haven't enough people died.

I agree with you OP

MLMsuperfan · 20/03/2021 23:56

Since this disease appeared I've seen the best of people; medics working round the clock, people volunteering to test the vaccine, and neighbours looking out for the vulnerable. And we've seen the worst of people, like these protests today.

tangerinelollipop · 20/03/2021 23:56

I just feel so frustrated seeing crowds

I agree. I also wish posters would stop egging on others to cause chaos and break the law. It's despicable

MercyBooth · 20/03/2021 23:57

We are supposed to be slowly coming out of the lockdown but we have been told things before then had it whipped away at the last minute The trust has gone.

UniversalAunt · 20/03/2021 23:57

👍@msbehavin

MercyBooth · 20/03/2021 23:58

The worst of people is right!!

tangerinelollipop · 21/03/2021 00:00

trust has gone

I'd rather trust the government who are doing all they can to bring this nightmare to an end, than a mob of protestors who are pulling every trick in the box to put everyone at risk and perpetuate the chaos.

MercyBooth · 21/03/2021 00:00

@MLMsuperfan The worst of people is someone reporting an 82 year old for having a socially distanced cuppa in a communal garden.

MercyBooth · 21/03/2021 00:03

Trust Track and Trace. It only cost 37 billion. They really have earned that trust lol.

And another example of the worst of people. Elderly ppl with Covid being discharged back into care homes.
DNR orders being placed without consent on those with disabilities and learning difficulties.

MercyBooth · 21/03/2021 00:04

But yeah lets trust them What could possibly go wrong.

Up to a third of applications for Covid Bounce Back loans may be dodgy - but police have ruled out investigating, and banks have no incentive to chase up repayments because taxpayers will foot the bill. Full story in the new Private Eye, on sale now.

US health insurance giant takes over 37 London GP practices, adding them to the 22 primary care services it already runs in the UK - and despite denials Matt Hancock's health white paper will make such privatisations by stealth more likely. Full story in new Private Eye, out now.

The amount of times the government lied about considering vaccines passports

MLMsuperfan · 21/03/2021 00:37

My grandparents had a choice many years ago when met with a threat to our wellbeing, They made a sacrifice. We are called on today to make a similar choice. Will we make a sacrifice, and look out for each other, or will we protest in our own interests?

MercyBooth · 21/03/2021 00:49

Well @MLMsuperfan My DM was running a farm during World War 2 at 7 years old. Because my Grandad was conscripted into the Italian Army.

Guess which she says is worse.

MercyBooth · 21/03/2021 00:50

We wernt called on today. Unless you ARE posting from 23 March 2020.

BonnieDundee · 21/03/2021 01:21

But the very reason Boris Johnson was so slow to order lockdown - which he has been heavily criticised for - is because he's a libertarian

Libertarians dont remove the public's right to protest. Johnson is no more a libertarian than I am an astronaut. He might like to portray himself as a libertarian but that's not quite the same thing as being one.

BonnieDundee · 21/03/2021 01:28

I'd rather trust the government who are doing all they can to bring this nightmare to an end

You trust this government? Grin after all the fuck ups and cronyism over the last 12 months?

Oh and @msbehavin well done and well said

MercyBooth · 21/03/2021 01:34

The "all in this together" types tend to forget all about that when it comes to holidays abroad.

rosetylersbiggun · 21/03/2021 01:38

It really concerns me that people are trying to hard to conflate people objecting to the protests horrific and fascist anti-protest bill, with idiot anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theorists who think Covid is all a hoax.

Bundling them all under one broad nebulous heading of "freedom" is so dangerous.

MLMsuperfan · 21/03/2021 02:05

We have a choice, do we stand together to protect the vulnerable, or do we protest for our own interests.

D0ntAtMe · 21/03/2021 02:07

I've been following a few you tubers for months who call them selves journalists and who document these anti lockdown protests. A lot of the comments from their supporters claim it's a hoax, they're on podcasts calling it a hoax and they say masks are for communists and they've been promoting the March 20th event in the comments so when I've seen a massive amount of supporters for these anti lockdown gatherings talk about it like that, that's why I mix the two.

I know many attending don't think like that but a lot of the vocal ones do and it's the vocal ones that get put on the news so I can see why that make people link covid denier with people attending.

I'm worried about covid but I'm also very worried about losing rights so I follow content that covers both and I can see why people want to protest.

MercyBooth · 21/03/2021 02:15

It was vulnerable people who had DNR orders placed on them without consent @MLMsuperfan

480Widdio · 21/03/2021 02:38

I applaud the protestors,I would love to have been in London today.

I have had my vaccine and I wear a mask. But I am scared to death about how our liberty is being taken away and how many people are accepting of it.

So Thankyou to all who protested today.

Selfishnotquitehumans · 21/03/2021 03:37

@480Widdio
I have had my vaccine
Lucky you. That's not the case for everyone. How selfish to support a super spreading event from the privilege of being vaccinated.

I would love to have been in London today
If you're so keen on super spreading, why not do it in your own back yard? Nothing saying it has to be London.

I feel sorry for the NHS workers who'll have to deal with the consequence of these selfish people.
