EU threatening to cut off supply of vaccines to UK

999 replies

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 17/03/2021 13:24

Because they've not got enough apparently (despite the fact that they've got a shit load of AZ stockpiled because they've mostly stopped using it)

This is really starting to piss me off now, and has someone who is due 2nd Pfizer jab in 8 weeks in starting to worry I won't get it!

They're threatening to stop supply to USA too.

Wankers
@NewYearNewTwatName I have read the full thread. I’ve asked you why you have no issue with the U.K. refusing to export any vaccines and instead using them to vaccinate their own population including now those who are low risk while other countries have their vulnerable still to vaccinate?
Oh, I've missed that. Can you post a link to where we're refusing to export vaccines?

DamnUserName21 · 17/03/2021 19:59

@Haffiana

Did you know that the EU signed their contract with AstraZenica one day before the UK signed theirs?

A good article from upthread talks about this^^

www.politico.eu/article/the-key-differences-between-the-eu-and-uk-astrazeneca-contracts/

EpiphanySoul1 · 17/03/2021 20:01

@MissConductUS the same applies in the U.K. the U.K. are clearly implementing extreme vaccine nationalism.

NewYearNewTwatName · 17/03/2021 20:01

EpiphanySoul1

really you read it all and still think it's that black and white?

Haffiana · 17/03/2021 20:02

@NewYearNewTwatName

Haffiana

it's ok, you keep shouting about EU investing 2.7b

if you don't understand by now you probably never will.

So please explain it to me.
EpiphanySoul1 · 17/03/2021 20:02

@Umbivalent What about UK exports to the EU?

There has been no public announcement of any vaccine exports from the UK, and no evidence that any have taken place.

www.google.ie/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/45877605

And if you think it’s sheer coincidence the U.K. have exported zero vaccines I have a bridge to seek you.

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 17/03/2021 20:06

@buttery81

I have relatives in spain who are 68 and 60. No hint of a vaccination and no clue as to when they will be getting one! They also dont know anyone who has had one yet either.

@pabloescobarselasticband I also have an older family member in Spain and she hasn’t heard a peep Sad

Odd. I have family in Spain:

Elderly - fully vaccinated
Teacher in her 30s - first dose done
60s - appointment for first dose next week

Each in a different region.

Haffiana · 17/03/2021 20:11

Spain have in fact fully vaccinated more people than the UK.

The UK have partially vaccinated more people than Spain.

NewYearNewTwatName · 17/03/2021 20:14

EpiphanySoul1 😂 do you even know how much the UK factories produce?

it fucking tiny in comparison to the EU ones. Plus if you had RTFT you'd have seen UK have exported, and they are the 3rd biggest contributor to covax, it was the main one until Biden got in office and joined then Germany recently joined. The EU has put less in the UK, Germany, and US.

DamnUserName21 · 17/03/2021 20:17

Been following.

It's a damn shame that there so are vulnerable people in the EU that haven't been vaccinated and many low-risk folks in the UK that have been.
I do feel, however, this is the fault of the Commission, the companies (contracts), and the near-constant sabotage of the AZ vaccine by Macron and other parties. I do feel some of the EU States have erred by suspending/banning the AZ vax at a time when the benefits outweigh the risks and with EU vax rates being lower than they should be.
Commission rhetoric on banning exports is clearly aimed at the UK--that AZ/Pfizer has been exporting to date from EU sites is clearly based on their contractual obligations.
I would like to know UK AZ export figures. I can't imagine it's very high but, again, these I attribute to the contract terms it has formed with AZ.

Haffiana · 17/03/2021 20:23

Plus if you had RTFT you'd have seen UK have exported,

I missed that. What exactly have they exported?

What have they given to Covax? Actual vaccines or money?

oh sorry, are you expecting me to scroll back through the thread to the information and links, and then repost it for your lazy arse?

EpiphanySoul1 · 17/03/2021 20:28

@NewYearNewTwatName can you provide a source for U.K. vaccine exports?

Haffiana · 17/03/2021 20:30

Absolutely not. A short precis in your own words will do.
3asAbird · 17/03/2021 20:30

Quite udvl no issues with the states they still exporting components of vaccines.
So is a factory in Yorkshire 4 components for phizer.
We dont have enough vaccine to export.
Usa is not export ing any vaccines to Europe and they have 10million az stockpiled that the fda haven't yet approved.
Yet uk is the bad guys the particular focus on the uk.

Why doesn't she still not understand uk factories were not part of their supply chain.
That we deal with az uk and they deal with az Sweden with contact of best efforts and significantly less investment.

www.wsj.com/articles/eu-threatens-tightening-vaccine-export-ban-11615985024

Its just draining really to see them constantly attacking uk.
I wonder if the brexit deal will collapse.

EpiphanySoul1 · 17/03/2021 20:30

@NewYearNewTwatName so far a link provides information on contributions. Not on exports of actual vaccines

Haffiana · 17/03/2021 20:31
So, money then. Pledges for money. No actual vaccines.
NewYearNewTwatName · 17/03/2021 20:33

Haffiana

Why do I doubt that, you'd accept my synopsis. 🤔

Haffiana · 17/03/2021 20:34

We dont have enough vaccine to export.

So, back to the actual subject of this tread - why do we imagine that the EU have vaccine to export to us?

Haffiana · 17/03/2021 20:34

Haffiana

Ok.
NewYearNewTwatName · 17/03/2021 20:34

keep looking......

it wasn't related to the covax contribution.

NewYearNewTwatName · 17/03/2021 20:37

this is like trying to get kids to sit down and homeschool Grin

Haffiana · 17/03/2021 20:38

@NewYearNewTwatName

Ok. Enough from you. Just insults and nothing concrete. We see you now.

DamnUserName21 · 17/03/2021 20:44

@Haffiana

We dont have enough vaccine to export.

So, back to the actual subject of this tread - why do we imagine that the EU have vaccine to export to us?

They don't. And all countries need it for their respective populations.

But it's about contractual obligations. There is no way AZ would be supplying the UK from EU plants over the EU unless there is something in their contracts that means they should.
