Still says 55 plus but two friends have just done it aged 51. They are always a couple of days late to update the front page. Give it a go if you fit criteria- still not quite at my age range.

@IloveJKRowling I agree, with the knowledge of how fast vaccinations are moving now, I think it would have been better just to send years R-2 and exam years back, and other years after Easter when the 40+ parents and teachers would have had a chance to be vaccinated.

I’ve got one of my children home isolating, and I was thinking how unfortunate it would be if his teacher in her 50s or I as a parent in my 40s caught it so close to being vaccinated

IloveJKRowling · 17/03/2021 10:45

Yes, and it's vaccination day +2 weeks (at least) to get protection. I do think rotas to allow social distancing could have worked really well until after the Easter hols. But obviously anything that sensible is out of the question :(

I know a couple of vulnerable Mums in their 40s who already struggle with health issues who've got it booked for this week. It's just fingers crossed they don't catch it from their kids in school before they get protection.

MrsJBaptiste · 17/03/2021 10:48

DH (52) had his vaccine this morning.

A friend (50) has theirs booked for tomorrow.

We're definitely getting there! Smile

middleager · 17/03/2021 10:50

Or if we get so close but are then put into self isolation, delaying the vaccine.

It's so short sighted to return before adults who work with children, and parents are vaccinated.

TomBarbara · 17/03/2021 10:51

50+ have all been invited in my area. I'm 50 and 1 month and was invited last week. Vax tomorrow

minniemoocher · 17/03/2021 10:55

@phlebasconsidered

Just book online, you don't have to wait for your gp.

Pushkinia · 17/03/2021 10:56

@TheWoollybacksWife Yes I am using the national site but the 119 helpline have tried and they can’t do it either. It’s not gone live in my area yet, despite what the front page says. 119 said to wait 48 hours and then my area “might” have gone live.

TheWoollybacksWife · 17/03/2021 11:14

That's a shame. It does highlight regional differences but I would have thought that if the national site was showing an age range then that would indicate that age group could book everywhere.

KeepWashingThoseHands · 17/03/2021 11:16

2 50+ family members in the North West done this week.

Go vaccinators!

IloveJKRowling · 17/03/2021 11:21

@minniemoocher phlebas has said she is not eligible for the vaccine in her area, and she is under 50 so I don't think she can just go on the website and book.

Iwantmychairback · 17/03/2021 11:31

I booked in last night. Struggled to find a day/ time suitable due to working, so having to wait an extra week, but at least it’s now booked.

ilovebrie8 · 17/03/2021 11:37

Do you have to wait for your gp to contact you? I looked at the link yesterday but it said it was for over 55’s online

ilovebrie8 · 17/03/2021 11:39

Ah I think the link has now been updated since yesterday !

PawFives · 17/03/2021 12:44

Main booking site definitely has been updated for 50+ - have booked for Sunday Smile

Itawapuddytat · 17/03/2021 13:09

A relative ( early 40s) got the text message today too! No health conditions, relative is essential worker but not NHS/care/social worker, living in SE England.

toolatetooearly · 17/03/2021 14:19

I'm 46 and I got the text last night... having the jab at 9.40am tomorrow.

Shufflebudge · 17/03/2021 14:21

I’m 41 and had mine yesterday. No conditions

ilovebrie8 · 17/03/2021 15:25

There seems to be a big variation depending on where you live?!

middleager · 17/03/2021 15:42

It's so varied, even in the same region, I can see from this thread alone.

aramox · 17/03/2021 15:45

I got a GP text this week, I'm in group 9.

ittakes2 · 17/03/2021 16:23

Nhs has officially dropped age to over 50s on the website so if someone over 50 can’t book online they can call 119.

ilovebrie8 · 17/03/2021 16:47

does the website allow you to book with your gp surgery? or is that for booking at the mass centres set up...

Geppili · 17/03/2021 16:55

Southeast here. Got mine tomorrow am 52.

Vargas · 17/03/2021 16:58

My DH didn't get a text but I was alerted by a friend and so I tried the council website which still said 55+, once I clicked through it then said 50+ and I booked both his vaccinations. I've just checked it again and now it says 50+ on first page...

TheOrigRights · 17/03/2021 20:51

So, I was visiting a relative in a care home (first visit since before Xmas and first inside visit since the summer) and they were giving second doses to the residents, had some spare so offered me my first dose.

A very positive visit all told.
